Prerequisites
There are just two small things that you will have to complete in order to take advantage of this system of generating gold.
  • You need to have at least 35 gold. This should be easy to get if you don't have it - Just sell whatever you don't need - you can buy it again after you make some gold with this method!
  • You will have had to helped out the farmer and his wife at the northern Farm map in their dealings with the Mill owner so that all three of these people will have their shops open for you.
Locations
I suggest using the map to quickly travel between the three locations - it really saves a lot of time!

Method
1. Go to the Farm

Talk to the farmer himself. You will want to purchase his grain. You'll probably want to buy as much as you can afford, but...

Be sure to leave 5 gold per grain you purchase in your pocket. You will need to pay the miller 5 gold each time you use his mill. You can always cancel the transaction if you clicked too many grain sacks. The screen will show you a preview of how much gold you will have after buying them, so multiply the sacks by 5 to know how much to hold back for the miller.

2. Travel to the Mill

Using the miller, convert all of the grain you purchased into flour. This will cost 5 gold each time you convert a sack of grain, which is why I added the caveat to the first step regarding saving this fee.

Unfortunately, the miller doesn't let you convert in bulk, so once you are converting 30+ sacks, it gets a little annoying. The big bucks at the end will be worth it, though!

3. Head Back to the Farm

This time, you want to talk to the farmer's wife. She will let you turn all of the flour you just got from the miller into 6 loaves of bread for each sack. Let her bake it all - she doesn't even want any gold!

4. And Now, the Mountain Pass

Travel one last time to the Mountain Pass, where a farmer's wife will happily buy as much bread as you can throw at her. They must be filthy rich, because she never runs out of gold!

5. Repeat

Just keep making the rounds, and as your wallet gets fatter, the more bread you can create at a time, making each trip worth even more money than before!

While I used the mill in my playthrough as well since it is the most obvious gold generating engine available, it is not the fastest way to make money. I did some math and checked some methods - apples, fish, arrows, vegetables->healing potions, apples->healing potions, all other potions and alchemy supplies. The most time efficient method I've found so far for multiplying gold with the most gold per time and click is the following:
Town: Buy poison from smuggler (85G)
Secret meadow: Sell poison to master hunter (90G)
While the difference in value doesn't seem that big on first glance, that's 2.5 G per click and is faster than all the other methods I've found in the guides so far. If you don't believe me, try it yourself.

Downside: It's quite late in the game when this is available and you should have some gold to begin with (otherwise you'd have to factor in the 4 clicks for changing locations via the map). It's still useful for the second gold achievement (earn 5,000 gold).

If anyone is interested in the formula, here it is:

T > $35G

Where T is the amount of $ in your inventory, and G is the amount of grain you should buy at the Farms.

For example, if you have $1000, you would do 1000 > 35G, giving G < 28 (rounded down). Therefore, buy 28 sacks of Grain.

The exchange rate has changed I think, now it is $30 for Grain, $5 for Flour (For a total of $35 Cost), while Bread sells for $9. You Sell 6 Bread per trip, making $54, giving you a Profit of $19/Grain.

That's nice!, just a tip before doing that, catch all the resource remaining and make as much potion as you can, then sell them all, maybe you might get over 5k :lunar2019coolpig:

You really don't have to work hard for gold at all... my final gold tally was 9503... and that's after completing the building construction quest in town which gives access to the Jeweler who will buy all your treasure (crowns, pearls, etc.)

The same mechanic also exists for fish, you can buy the fish cheap from the fishing village once you do a mission for the fisherman's wife, then sell it at +2 proft per fish in the town.
