That's the Ruby *Rod*. Easy mistake to make, but it's a big difference lollll.
Actually, there's still quite some space for a good SO2 PS1 guide. I'm currently running some experiments on that version, and by god, many of the guides on GameFAQs are either incomplete or outright unhelpful when it comes to minutiae like mechanics or special effects. The only problem is, writing a guide for it in this day and age would look weird, most people are happy with the remake and it is arguably a better game in almost every way.
