Introduction
Pickpocketing, that dirty little trick, is a rather infamous skill in Star Ocean 2. While it can get some good stuff fairly early, it's held back by lots of things. Namely, you first need to buy an expensive item, the Thief's Glove. This thing costs a cool 40k! You can craft an upgraded version of it through Machinist, but that's not really feasible as it requires taking it all the way to level 9, and with that sort of investment your character's Pickpocketing skill is going to hurt!

The easiest and most straightforward way to get this money is to get Purity up. While it may take a while, it's a fairly inexpensive skill and raising it to level 7 on a single character should be enough to get the required money. Though, this does have the unfortunate side effect of diverting skill points away from potential Pickpocketing levels. A less intensive, though slower way, is to craft a bunch of Gold Idols. This is pretty easy to do - get Celine to alchemize a bunch of gold ores, then have Rena craft them. Note though that she has 1/4th odds of making the idols, and will often make a lot of other stuff instead. Thankfully, each Gold Idol made will more than offset these results, they go for 1442. Each. And with Group Appraising unlocked, even at a low level, you can get a fair bit more. Further, the crafting process itself can trigger a bunch of challenge missions, netting more money and speeding up the glove acquisition.

Reader Note:

Almighty Boof brings up another way to acquire the money:

I wanted to mention another good (and quick) way to make money for Thieves' Glove would be fishing outside Harley. Harley Marlin sell for 3640 FOL, so you only need to sell 10-12 of them to buy the gloves. You can cheese it by casting your line and reeling it in until the screen goes dark when you cast the line (this means either a rare fish will bite or you will pull up an enemy).

Following so far? Good. Now that you have the money, you can get the glove from Harley. That's this town here, alllll the way to the east:

You could technically get here the moment Celine joins as a guest, but in practice, it's advisable to complete Krosse Cave for some levels and skill points first. You'll also probably want to not trigger story events at Kurik or Marze, as both of those take away some theft opportunities.
Problems
So with glove in hand, and some investment in Courage and Poker Face to get a level or two in Pickpocketing, you may think you are set for starting your life in crime. Right?

WRONG!

Most pickpocketing opportunities offer fairly little, often just providing things you could get from shops, as random drops, or by engaging in a little item creation. Sure, you don't have to pay for them...but rolling the dice on them is quite cumbersome, and you only get three chances before needing to reset them with Relax Perfumes or reloading your save. When do you get the perfumes? Oh, after the Marze abduction quest. Which comes after a bunch of story events that alter your stealing targets. And on top of all that, steal chances are partly based off item rarity, so the really good stuff takes a while to get. How much of a while?

Oh, like 13% chance even at level 4 Pickpocketing. And while this item is quite good, many rare items aren't. And your character MUST have the Nimble Fingers talent, else they will never be able to steal anything. You can teach them this by making them Craft(aka using the Crafting skill) stuff, though it can take a while. On top of ALL this, pickpocketing is also saddled with a relationship penalty, though thankfully it's fairly easy to manipulate them and they don't matter too much in gameplay.

That said, the skill still has its fair share of applications. There are items that, while not necessarily game changing, do greatly help a run. There are items that offer interesting and new approaches. And lastly, there are items which are so powerful as to be sorely missed in their absence.

I shall highlight every such item in this guide, explaining where you find it, why it is valuable, and how much effort it warrants. Let us begin!
Items Part 1
Important Note: Only the character who leads your party engages in Pickpocketing, so if you want to get the best chances at it, invest into the skill on the character who has the most targets to steal from. For the most part, this means your main character, either Rena or Claude, as you only control them during Private Actions, and some targets are exclusive to those. Try getting the skill to at least level 4 before engaging in any serious theft.

The first item of note is this Rainbow Diamond, found on Elmyra, the newlywed wife in Arlia. Now, what's so great about this rock? Sure, it's an advanced mineral you can't really create till Energy Nede, but so what?

Well, the Rainbow Diamond has a special, hidden property.

When equipped, it boosts all your skills and specialties by a level! And yes, that does mean all of them. Unfortunately(or rather fortunately for balance's sake), it doesn't directly affect super specialties, but this is still quite a powerful accessory for item creation. Just remember to unequip it before heading off into the overworld, it offers little in the way of combat benefits.

That said, stealing this particular Rainbow Diamond isn't especially necessary, you can get a few others even in Expel and you do eventually get the capacity to mass produce it. Still, finding one this early can only help, and at level 4 Pickpocketing, which isn't too intensive on skill points, it shouldn't take too long to get it.

Personally I don't like this accessory as the hefty attacking penalty can really cripple a character, and offensive strategies are far more effective than defensive ones in this game. That said, there's a Ring of Sadness on Allen here, and it can be paired alongside the one found in Harley to make a spellcaster quite tanky without much loss in killing power. Note that if you want to use it on fighters, the Blue Talisman eventually obsoletes it. And that "eventually" isn't too far if you make Rena or Celine craft a bunch of Sapphires.

The Illusion Doll is a powerful item, raising evasion by a whopping 64 points! With it, and the right setup, you can laugh at even the attacks the final bosses throw out. The boy in the house close to the entrance holds this understated, yet powerful item. Normally I am wary of recommending consumable items as thefts, you can often craft them easily and they are of momentary merit, but this one is just that good!

Finally, a good equip! The young man walking around Krosse's market square holds a Shield Ring. This ring reduces all(and I do mean ALL) physical damage by 90%. That's a really powerful defensive effect! However, it does have a 10% chance of breaking per hit taken, making it have limited application against multi hit attacks. You may want to replicate it before using it, but it's not really necessary. You will eventually get the ability to craft these, and even make better defensive accessories, but this early on, they are pretty powerful, especially when equipped on a low defense character, like a spellcaster.

The blacksmith in Krosse holds some good armor, as you would expect. That said, this armor is good for its time, and is also available in Harley's store, so don't worry much about getting it.

The fighter has another copy of the shield, if you want it.

A pretty crucial pickup! The young man wandering around Krosse Castle's reception hall has a Magical Camera. This camera enables replicating items, which is a fairly powerful tool. However, keep in mind that it uses up magic film, which isn't cheap, and that replicating itself requires levels in Replication to be effective. That all said, getting the ability this early is quite useful, and if you plan to replicate stuff, it's better to start early. The camera shouldn't take too many attempts, just keep trying.

He does also have an Angel Statuette which is fairly potent, but not essential...the camera is far more important! It heals 30% of the max HP to the entire party, if you choose to acquire it.

The maid in the castle's barracks has this nifty item. Star Earrings raise the effective level of Hasten Speech by 3 in battle. This is quite useful for spellcasters, letting them get their spells off a fair bit faster. Note that this bonus applies even without any investment into Hasten Speech, letting your spellcasters save some crucial battle points for later. Unfortunately, it won't raise the level of Hasten Speech beyond 10, and even at max level many high end spells are quite slow to cast, but I digress. There are better accessories for boosting this skill, a fair number of which can be crafted, but this isn't a bad pickup at all.

Princess Rozaria holds two helpful accessories - the Princess Ring boosts MP by a cool 100, and the Star Necklace is basically a better version of the Star Earring, raising Hasten Speech by 5. Your spellcasters will like these, and while there are better accessories, getting these can't hurt.
Prioritize one of them depending on your taste.

Celine herself has some cool stuff in Krosse. The Cinderella Glass lowers all shop prices by 25%, and the Rod of Jewels, while having slightly lower Intelligence than her base rod, has a nifty attack and defense boost over it, and can be customized into a far more powerful wand with a Star Ruby. Definitely try for these, and go for the rod first if you plan on using her.

Items Part 2

If you plan on using Celine long term, you might consider stealing this. This ring, held by the innkeeper in Kurik, boosts the damage of all wind spells by 30%. A fair number of Celine's spells are wind aligned, and its boost often contributes much more of a damage boost than most intelligence boosting accessories. That said, her top tier spells are either fire or light aligned, and no other wizard really specializes in wind elemental spells, so this isn't a particularly important pickup.

Milly holds a Ruby Wand, a decent straightforward upgrade to Celine's starter rod. It's not too much more powerful, but it's nice to have. That said, you can get one through "normal" play fairly quickly, especially since it's sold in Harley's store, so don't sweat this one too much.

A lady who's alongside her boyfriend in Kurik's market square has some interesting items. The Ring of the Accursed is even better for defense than the Blue Talisman, arguably. It has a bonus 30 defense on top of its 30% defense boost. However, it's held back by two significant drawbacks - it has a 10% chance of doubling your damage taken, and it makes its wearer weak to no less than four elements!

The Benefaction Card, meanwhile, randomly offers an item from a pretty wide selection. Thus, it can either be quite good, or quite bad. I'm personally more interested in reliable rewards, and I find the ring's drawbacks to be too intense to make it worthwhile. Still, they can be useful, and if you are willing to abuse savescumming, the Benefaction Card can in fact be far more profitable than anything else listed here.

Now THIS is a great find! The angry sailor at Kurik has a fitting accessory to his name - the Berserker Ring. These rings permanently buff their wearer with the Rage status, which doubles all their physical damage. Note that this is a buff to *damage*, not attack - this is important because every buff in this game scales off base stats, not off the buffed result. Thus, there are scenarios later where you will want to swap it out for either a Ring of Might, or an Earring of Frenzy. But, this is still a great ring to obtain. Definitely try going for it.

Celine at Kurik doesn't have as exciting rewards as Krosse, however the Cinderella Glass is still worth picking up.

Philia, the doomsayer in Kurik's singular Private Action, has some good stuff on her. The Sprite's Bracelet gets random items while walking. And these are items, not just item creation ingredients, unlike Survival. It even gives stuff when equipped on a benched member, so you don't have to waste an accessory slot on it. Now, the items from it aren't *too* exciting, barring the rare opportunity to get a Forged Medal, but they do help.

The Moonlight grants a hefty boost to both HP and MP, and is good as a general purpose accessory, when you don't have a specific role in mind. I personally find the Sprite's Bracelet a better choice, but a strong case could be made for stealing this. Anyhow, Philia is a time limited target, so pick ONE thing to steal and focus on it. Try for it, but don't sweat it - you can eventually craft Moonlights and get a better version of the Sprite's Bracelet.

In an amusing touch, Ketil himself has a Thief's Glove! I don't recommend stealing it of course, it's just a funny detail.

The guard at the front of Mountain Palace has some good armor, if you're willing to go there. However, this is good "for its time", once again, and is also available from Harley's shop.

Marze is, in many ways, a thief's paradise. We begin with this extremely potent item held by a lady in the middle of its roads, the Faerie Card. It heals all your party members by 50% of their HP! Normally this would require getting Art allllllll the way to level 10 and then drawing a bunch of cards, but you can just grab it here! Well, okay, maybe not "just" with those odds, but it's much easier than leveling up Art. Normally I am a bit wary of recommending stealing consumables, but this one is just that good!

Bart, the boy on the streets has another powerful consumable item. The Megabomb does half of the targeted units' health as damage, rounded down to fit the damage limit. And it works on EVERY target, including and upto the final boss himself. Granted, against most later enemies it's not too powerful without raising the damage limit, as HP climbs far beyond the thousands, but this early it basically guarantees cutting either of the Snow Ogre or Azam Gille short. Just remember that this boy is gone during the Marze kidnapping event, so try visiting the place before Kurik sinks. It's a lot less useful after the event.

The lady strolling near Marze's northern exit has the Angel Statuette. It's like the Faerie Card, but weaker - it heals 30% HP on all party members. It's worth a mention, as it can be handy, just not as much as the card. Getting Art to level 8 will let you make these, but that's fairly SP intensive, and doesn't allow creating these reliably.

The man next to Marze's northern exit continues the trend of amazing consumables, bringing an Illusion Doll with him. Another easily recommended steal. You can also make these with Art level 8, provided you account for the earlier mentioned caveats.

The old lady near Marze's northern exit has yet another great consumable. Seriously, what's with Marze and good consumables? Regardless, the Revival Card is an absolute keeper. It essentially replicates the Sacrificial Doll, reviving the buffed character on death. But unlike the Sacrificial Doll, it revives them to full HP! And since it doesn't occupy an accessory slot, and is applied via using the card in battle, it can allow any party to get past dire battles, especially if you replicate it. Now keep in mind that the battle formation bonuses do not get preserved this way, so while it might revive the party, they'll be considerably weaker afterwards. But that's a small price to pay for effective immortality. Art at level 10 can craft these too, very unreliably.
Items Part 3

The last and definitely least among notable targets on Marze's streets is this old man on its side road. He has a Goodie Box, which is essentially just the Benefaction Card, but better. Better in the sense that it grants three random items instead of one. Guides everywhere seem to mention him because the box has a chance of dropping some late game weapons. However, in my experience savescumming for them is too time consuming and tedious to be worthwhile, and to be rather frank I hate relying on meta exploits like these anyway. The game isn't hard enough to warrant so much effort into breaking its difficulty curve. Either way, if you really want to rely on rolling the Goodie Box, you can get it earlier by crafting it through level 4 Art, though note that getting it is rather unreliable(sounds familiar, doesn't it? Yeaaahh, Art is kind of unreliable for anything besides making paintings). Steal it if you really must, but don't fret it if you don't get it.

If you missed getting the Angel Statuette from the lady near Marze's northern exit earlier, you can try getting it from the bartender in its inn. I've already covered what it does, twice.

Celine at Marze has a robe upgrade alongside her requisite Cinderella Glass. The upgrade is good, but much like Claude's armor upgrades, it's "good for its time". Now it does take a while for this robe to show up in a shop, but even with it on, spellcasters have fairly poor defense. I personally would rather go for the Cinderella Glass.

Marze's elder in its town hall has an interesting accessory. The Faerie Tear heals MP through spell damage taken, converting about 10% of it. Needless to say, taking damage itself is rarely ideal, but this is a reliable way to keep a character topped off in spell heavy fights. Especially once spells start hitting the entire battlefield. That said, I personally prefer accessories that provide either strong defensive or offensive effects, and this does neither. And the fire weakness on it can be rather nasty, many enemies love using fire spells, including a late game boss. It's good for now, but there are far better accessories later.

Rena at Harley surprisingly has a Faerie Card on her. You know how good it is, so dedicate looting effort to it accordingly.

The lady at Hilton's harbor has quite the ring indeed! The Ring of Absorption is essentially an upgraded Shield Ring - rather than merely block physical damage, it absorbs it completely, healing the character! It still retains the 10% chance of breaking per hit, but by now you should be able to make copies of it via Replication, though at a rather low success rate. This goes well on spellcasters, but can also make a fighter quite tanky!

The man outside the weapon shop has a really cool ring on him. The Meteor Ring is an amazing offensive accessory, doubling the number of hits delivered per swing. It only applies to regular attacks, but quite a few characters have strong or fast regular attacks. You will be surprised at how far regular attacks can last in this game! And obviously this raises your killing power for the Lacuer continent considerably. Definitely snag one of these, even if you aren't getting any of the sidequest related fighters - it's good on Claude(as long as you control him or set his AI correctly) and on Rena too, who can be a surprisingly potent fighter with this.

This fighter in the pub has some good armor. However, this is good "for its time", so steal accordingly. In fairness, it takes a long while before this shows up in shops...but enemy offense scales up quite fast in this game, especially on Universe difficulty, and its defense isn't enough to outdo them, not for long.

Another fighter in the pub similarly has a shield that's good "for its time". Evasion, by its very nature, ages better than defense...but it's not that big a boost in evasion. Steal it if you want, but don't fuss much over it.

Celine has an interesting set of accessories here. The Velvet Tear is pretty much the Faerie Tear's sibling - convert 10% of all spell damage taken into MP, but this time it resists fire and is weak to water instead. This is technically a better accessory than the latter, but frankly you could do a lot better.

Rena has a pair of shoes that are "good for their time". Well they do provide a fair amount of defense, amusingly almost as much as the Amber Robe. But defensive upgrades, at least these ones, are boring and don't scale very well. By now you should have Blacksmith, and it should be able to do better than these thefts. Now, to be fair, these boots are a bit of an exception, as they are spellcaster exclusive, and that speciality is a bit short on their gear, but you get my point, don't you?

If you are using Celine, you might consider stealing this rod from her at Lacuer. This can get customized into better rods with relative ease, eventually turning into either the Silver or the Holy Rod. However, the Rod of Jewels can be forged more readily into the Ruby Rod, and so I prefer it still. That said, a Silver Rod is hardly bad, and if you can't get her Customization to level 8 for whatever reason, this is still a good steal.

Now THIS is an armor upgrade. The guard guarding the laboratory in Lacuer's castle holds this beauty of a shield. You know all the "good for their time" armor upgrades I mentioned earlier? This handily blows them all out of the water. What does it do, you might ask?

In addition to having oodles of evade, the Crested Shield hurls back loads of fireballs for every hit its wearer blocks! It's like a Star Guard, only with fireballs instead. Claude could easily go through the rest of the game with this equipped. Just mind any fire absorbing enemies, there this shield would do more harm than good!

This soldier near Lacuer's arena's entrance has an Angel Statuette. By now it's a little less exciting, as your party is likely more robust and so needs it less, but it's still useful.

A tourist lady in Lacuer's throne room has a Cinderella Glass. It's as good as usual, but by now your party's Group Appraising should be decently high enough to not depend on these anymore.

The Lacuer arena's receptionist has a Revival Card, which is worth grabbing.
Items Part 4

Visiting Bowman's shop before getting thrown out of Keith's house lets you steal from Ninay. Her Evening Gown is quite worthwhile, it gives a hefty 100 extra Intelligence, which is extremely useful for your female spellcasters. Its defense is a little lacking, but it's not too difficult to keep them out of danger.

The Rune Cap off a wandering scholar in front of Linga's university isn't a bad pick. It gives decent defense for a spellcaster helm and cuts MP consumption by 33%. Of course, there are accessories which grant that effect too, but you generally want better effects out of them.

If you couldn't steal Celine's Rod of Jewels back in Krosse, or need another copy of it for whatever reason, you can get one in Linga. She's in its library, located just to the university's left side.

During the Armory Contest, an old lady on the bridge leading to Lacuer's castle has a Magical Camera. You can steal it, but you can also buy one from Linga at this point so it's not really that relevant anymore.

During the Armory Contest, one of the guards in the corridors leading to the arena has a spiffy shield for the casters. While a bit lacking in defense, they provide oodles of Evade and block Paralysis. Definitely steal this!

The guard in the OTHER corridor has the exact same inventory, down to the Rune Buckler itself! Double the amazing shield, double the fun!

There's also a fighter here with a Crested Shield. You probably don't need two of them, but the shield itself is still great, and if you need a copy it's still worth stealing.

Gamgee's Veil Piercer is worth stealing. Not only is it a very potent sword by itself, it also customizes readily into the Soulbreaker, which is a powerful sword that can instakill enemies. It can further be customized into even more powerful weapons, though those do require significant investment into Customization. Another definite grab!

If you didn't make it through Customization, the Maiden's Aria is worth stealing too. It's a fairly strong sword, and, more importantly, eventually customizes into the Gemini, one of Ashton's best swords(that doesn't involve minigames or the postgame dungeon).

Bowman, during the herb fetching quest, has a cool pair of gloves on him. The Blazing Knuckles have an innate Meteor Ring effect and high attack power. If you're using Rena as a fighter they're pretty great, and they're also good on Bowman, if you recruit him. They will eventually be obsoleted, but it will be a long while before that happens, and with the innate effect and their element they can have niche uses even after that.

If you recruit Welch, you can steal this powerful defensive accessory from her at Krosse. The Sacrificial Doll not only resists all elements, it also revives the character from death. However, it breaks after that, so be careful if you're relying on it for its resists. Claude can craft these out of diamond, but getting extra copies of it can't hurt, especially against a tough foe.

She also has it at Harley.

A man near Lacuer's Castle's entrance during the Hoffman Ruins sequence has a Faerie Card. Still worth stealing and worth saving up on for difficult fights.

During the same sequence, you can also find a man in Lacuer Castle's library holding a Sacrificial Doll.

The king of Lacuer himself has a nice little robe. The Silver Robe doesn't just have some actual good defense for this point, especially considering it's a spellcaster robe, it also grants a strong boost to Intelligence. Definitely snag this if you're using any spellcasters.

The Triangle Flask is obtainable off Leon's mom. It's a handy piece of equipment that conserves iron ores during alchemizing. Now this isn't very essential, but it sure is convenient. Definitely try for this if you aren't developing Machinist.

If you recruited Ernest, he has this nifty piece of armor at Krosse. The Magic Armor provides resistances to fire, water and earth, on top of having pretty good defense. By now, your Blacksmith speciality should be getting quite powerful, but it's still convenient to get it this way, especially if you are running a fighter heavy party.

Ernest also has two strong pieces of armor in Marze. The Battle Suit has one of the highest defense values of any body gear in the game. That said, it can be a bit of a trap - it doesn't offer any resistances to elements, and those tend to be more important in this game. Enemy attack just scales up too fast for raw defense alone to manage. The Gauntlet of Air is a neat shield that anyone can use. You probably have better shields by now, either found or made, but if not, getting this can't hurt.

He also has a Sacrificial Doll at Harley.

If you return to Linga during(or immediately after) the Hoffman Ruins arc, a soldier stationed here has a Rune Buckler.

Ernest has a battle suit in Linga too.

This soldier near Lacuer's Front Line Base's entrance is loaded for bear, carrying both a Soulbreaker and a Crested Shield. You should have a better weapon by now, as well as the shield, but if not, help yourselves.

The soldier selling stuff in the base's armory has a neat suit of armor. The Blessed Plate Armor grants a free revive if its wearer had 25% HP before dying. It's not defensively better than the Battle Suit, but the effect itself is quite useful for those tense, tight fights, especially if combined with Revival cards. Try getting it if you like its effect.

A guard overlooking the waterfalls has a cool glove. The Dragon Claw is essentially a sidegrade of the Blazing Knuckles - less attack power, but more Intelligence and no element. Definitely snag it if you're using Rena.

A guard in the fort's entrance room has another Blessed Plate Armor.

The injured soldier at the end of the sick room has another Crested Shield.
Items Part 5

The lady right before the elder's house has a Sacrificial Doll.

On the Calnus, the officer overlooking the central monitors has a Survival Kit. This permits Survival to roll high end materials, greatly increasing its value. Get this if you aren't investing into Machinist. Note that this steal is only available to Claude - Rena never visits the Calnus.

A guard near the Calnus' command room's left exit has a Battle Suit. This is the most commonly cited source for this piece of armor. So you can basically get three of these in every game that recruits Ernest! Like I said though, they're a bit of a mixed bag, though certainly valuable.

Note: Energy Nede, at least past the Arachnovias, is where the game really opens up. Therefore, your party can grow so strong as to not need some, or even most of the stuff here. Still, for the sake of completion and convenience, I've noted the steals I found worthwhile.

Mayor Nall has a spiffy cloak. The Holy Cloak isn't impressive stat wise, but it allows its wearer to absorb light damage, which actually comes in handy in quite a few fights. Particularly the Gabriel fight. Get it to give yourselves the option, in case the fight turns out too difficult. The Silver Charm does grant light absorb too, but you might not want to use an accessory slot just for that.

His secretary, fittingly, has a great accessory. The Earring of Frenzy boosts attack by 200%. Yes, you heard that right. A character with it attacks thrice as strongly as their baseline! Its only drawback is the hefty 50% accuracy penalty, but there are ways and means to get around it. Oh, and it can only be equipped by female fighters. So definitely snag this if you're using any, but leave it alone otherwise. And no, Rena doesn't count, for some reason.

An editor in the left room of the Nedian newspaper floor has this amazing camera. The RIRICA is essentially the Magic Camera, but better. It has good odds of not using up film while replicating objects, regardless of success or failure. Yet another definite catch, at least if you're not investing in Machinist.

One of the receptionists on the Centropolis' city hall's reception floor has three Angel Statuettes.

Centropolis' shopkeeper has a Goddess Statuette. This is the MP equivalent of the Angel Statuette, restoring 30% of max MP to the whole party. Good for if your party uses a lot of special moves or expensive spells.

Centropolis' guildmaster has another Triangle Flask.

Amusingly enough, Welch has a Lezard's Flask in Centropolis. You should easily have the money for it, though.

North City's blacksmith's assistant has a suit of Wizard's Armor. This is essentially defensively oriented spellcaster gear, giving a ton of defense for this point of the game. It doesn't grant much of anything else though, not even Intelligence, so I don't really recommend it. Get it if your spellcasters are dying too much to melee enemies, I guess.

North City's guildmaster has an Angel Statuette.

His advisor has an Illusion Doll.

Rena has a set of high end knuckles at North City. The Magic Knuckles buff her spell damage by 50% and have good Intelligence on them, but they can be customized further into her ultimate weapon, the Emprezia. If she doesn't have a high enough Customization to forge it, they can still turn into some really potent knuckles. Worth stealing if you are using her.

Celine here has a Mithril Dress. This is an interesting piece of armor, having pretty low defense but a prodigious amount of intelligence and evade, along with resistances to both wind and light. It's a worthwhile equip as long as you don't drop defense too low. This can't be stressed enough - evade ages better than defense in this game, especially on Universe difficulty. Definitely snag this.

Princebridge's inn's sentry has the Ingredients of Yarma on him. I don't really consider Cooking a useful skill in this game, but I'm pointing it out since the only other way to get it is by excelling at a cooking contest, and this is far more convenient.

Marianna at L'Aqua has some cool headgear...in theory. The Tiara of Isis provides good defense for a spellcaster helm and boosts spell damage by 50%. Unfortunately, the high end damage spells are so slow as to be impractical. The defense can still help, but you know what I said about enemy attack scaling really fast in this game. Get this if you want.

A soldier in L'Aqua's sick ward has an Illusion Doll on him.

The soldier guarding L'Aqua's harbor has a Revival Card.

A girl near Fun City's food shop has a RIRICA.

Fun City's bartender has a Goddess Statuette.

A guest in Fun City's inn has a Faerie Card on him.

The fortune teller of relationships has a Goddess Statuette.

A customer in Fun City's fanfic shop has an Illusion Doll.

Another customer in the same shop has not one, but two cards worth grabbing!

The bunny customed guy right outside the bunny race track has two interesting pieces of gear. The Bunny Shoes are a convenient way to speed up combat movement, although Haste, Ointment of Vedas and Godspeed fueled dashes can all achieve the same, in varying degrees. Although those do also stack with this, so in case you need to seriously outspeed enemies, this is still very useful. The Cat Fang is an interesting weapon - it has an innate Ring of Lightspeed property. So it gets three hits per swing. This amazing power is sadly canceled out by its utterly terrible stats - it has only 120 attack! Not worth it for anything besides the novelty, although at extremely high levels this is likely Rena's most damaging weapon. Funny thing, that.
Items Part 6

The pitiful fighter in Fun City's arena's waiting room has a Goddess Statuette.

A child in Fun City's arena stands has an Illusion Doll.

A guard in the same arena's left corridor has a Crested Shield.

Opera at the Fun City has an Earring of Frenzy.

Armlock's blacksmith has both a Mithril Dress and a Goddess Statuette! An irresistible offer, indeed.

Armlock's guildmaster has a Magician's Glove. This is the Thief's Glove, but better. Too bad this upgrade comes rather late in the game. Grab it if you aren't investing into Machinist.

Those are all the useful and interesting steals I could find. As you can see, theft is profitable, though it may be cumbersome. But, thankfully, this game is open ended enough that you don't really need it much, or even at all. After all, not everybody likes stealing things, and looking through everyone's inventories can get quite tiring!

I hoped you enjoyed reading this guide, and found it useful for your playthrough. If you have any suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments. Cheers!

You're welcome! I definitely agree about those being generally the best hauls, though I see merit in stealing the Earring of Frenzy and the Mithril Dresses too.

I also cleared up some minor errors just now, sorry about those.

This was something that needed to be done. Thank you! I had started a list like this a while ago, but got bored of it.

To me, the best things to steal are the Battle Suits, Meteor Ring, and the Lacuer Front equips as soon as you get to Hilton. The crafting enhance items go without saying.
