Update
The latest version of Rain World added an in-game backup manager. You now only need this guide if you play on an older version or the in-game backup manager doesn't work properly for you, which can happen sometimes.
Step 1: Find Save Location
Simply copy the following text:
%appdata%\..\LocalLow\Videocult\Rain World
Then open the search bar, paste the text there, and hit Enter

Now you should be in a folder with contents that look a little like this:
Step 2: Find Backup
Now open the folder named "backups". It should be full of folders with a bunch of numbers in their names. Those are the backups!

Sort them by date modified so that the most recent ones are at the top by right-clicking empty space in the folder, going to "Sort by", and clicking on "Date modified".
Make sure "Descending" is selected!

(This step may look different on Windows 11, I don't use it and don't know what the menu looks like on that system)
Step 3: Restore Backup
Now look at the dates under the column named "Date modified" and choose which backup you want to restore. You'll likely want one of the most recent ones, like the first or second one from the top.

Be careful which backup you're trying to restore! Depending on how much you've played and when the last backup was created, you could lose hours of progress. Pay close attention at the dates of the backups to make sure you're not going back too far into the past.

Open the folder of the backup you want and copy all of the files inside. Then, go back up two folders until you're in the one you opened the first time:

Finally, just paste the files you copied earlier and replace any existing files.

That's it, the backup is restored! Whatever mistake you made is now likely undone!
Disclaimer
I'm not responsible for any loss of progress. It's up to you to choose the right backup to restore based on the date of its creation. If you're not confident you can follow the guide correctly or choose the right backup on your own, you should not do so.
