Speed Potion Brewing - Power leveling the Alchemy

WAIT! YOU CAN SKIP THE STEPS!?

This guide will show you how to brew each of every potion without wasting your time.

Since the game allows you to NOT FOLLOW every step to make a potion and you can SKIP a lot of process along the way.

There are NO penalties doing it this way and you will get the same amount of exp and potions regardless of how you brew your potions.

So WHY waste your time doing the tedious steps to end up getting the same outcome?

I had tried and error'ed these so you won't have to do it yourself, enjoy!


You must add ingredients in exact order to make it work!

Speed Recipes
  • Aesop Potion
    Effect: Horses and dogs will love you! Increases your Horsemanship by 5 for ten minutes, and for the same period, dogs will not bark at you.
    : Add spirits, then add 1 Wild Boar's Tusk, 1 Wormwood, 1 Belladonna and 1 Comfrey then boil and DISTILL to finish the potion.
  • Amor Potion
    Effect: Other people will look up to you! Your Charisma is increased by 5 for ten minutes.
    : Add wine, then add 1 Antlers, 1 Marigold, 1 Chamomile and 1 Wormwood then boil and then finish the potion.
  • Aqua Vitalis
    Effect: You feel like Achilles and can withstand wounds easily. For five minutes, strikes will wound you 50% less.
    : Add water, then add 2 Dandelion and 1 Marigold, then finish the potion.
  • Artemisia Potion
    Effect: A bitter herb liquer that will put strength in your blood, but also bewilders your eyes with strange visions. Your Strength and Warfare skill are increased by 5 for ten minutes.
    : Add spirits, then add 1 Sage and 2 Wormwood, then boil and DISTILL to finish the potion.
  • Antidote
    Effect: Cures poisoning, whatever the cause.
    : Add water, then add 2 Thistle, 1 Nettle, 1 Charcoal, then boil and then finish the potion.
  • Bane Potion
    Effect: Consumption causes strong nausea and massive health loss leading to death. Gradually depletes 110 Health points.
    : Add wine, then add 1 Wormwood, 2 Belladnona and 1 Fly Agaric, then boil and DISTILL to finish the potion.
  • Bard Potion
    Effect: Loosens the tongue and lowers inhibitions. Increases Speech by 5 for ten minutes.
    : Add oil, then add 1 St. John's Wort, 1 Nettle, 1 Belladonna and 1 Charcoal, then boil and then finish the potion.
  • Bivoj's Rage Potion
    Effect: Increases Strength and invokes blood frenzy - during combat it will increase the damage for 50%.
    : Add wine, then add 2 Sage, 1 Wormwood and 1 Cave Mushroom, then finish the potion.
  • Bowman's Brew
    Effect: Firms the arm during archery and improves your Bow skill. Increases your Bow skill for ten minutes by 5 points.
    : Add spirits, then add 2 Eyebright and 1 St. John's wort, then finish the potion.
  • Buck's Blood Potion
    Effect: A powerful Stamina potion to increase your endurance. Your Stamina is increased by 50% for ten minutes.
    : Add oil, then add 1 St. John's Wort, 1 Comfrey and 1 Dandelion, then finish the potion.
  • Cockerel Potion
    Effect: Restores energy, wakes you up and keeps the drowsiness away. Increases Energy by 20.
    : Add spirits, then add 2 Mint and 1 Valerian, then boil and DISTILL to finish the potion.
  • Digestion potion
    Effect: Soothes your stomach in cases of food poisoning or overeating. Reduces Overstuffing by 20 and cures food-poisoning.
    : Add spirits, then add 2 Chamomile and 1 Mint, then finish the potion.
  • Dollmaker Potion
    Effect: Your muscles atrophy and you lose control of your limbs. Your entire body feels wooden and you can only move with great difficulty. Your Combat skills with weapons and without are reduced by 5 for ten minutes and your Stamina is lowered by 50%. You can't sprint.
    : Add spirits, then add 2 Herb Paris and 1 Valerian, then finish the potion.
  • Embrocation
    Effect: Eases aches of bones and joints. Increases Agility and Defense by 5 for ten minutes.
    : Add oil, then add 1 Poppy, 1 Valerian, 1 Eyebright and 1 Wild Boar's Tusk, then finish the potion.
  • Hair o' the Dog Potion
    Effect: Makes your mornings easier, but at what price? I cures drunkenness, prevents a hangover and cures alcoholism. Your Charisma is reduced by 2 for one hour.
    : Add water, then add 1 St. John's Wort, 1 Sage and 1 Mint then finish the potion.
  • Lazarus Potion
    Effect: In the space of five minutes adds 100 Health dispels a hangover. Cancels the effects of Marigold Decoction.
    : Add water, then add 1 Valerian and 2 Comfrey, then finish the potion.
  • Lethean Water
    Effect: Drink one mouthful and you'll forget all earthly experience. Obliterates all perk points, so they can be used elsewhere.
    : Add spirits, then add 2 Wormwood 1 Belladona and 1 Fly Agaric, then finish the potion.
  • Lullaby Potion
    Effect: Makes user fall asleep in no time. Energy reduced to 0.
    : Add oil, then add 1 Poppy, 1 Thistle and 1 Herb Paris, then finish the potion.
  • Marigold decoction
    Effect: Within one minute will add 30 Health and dispel hangover effects. Cancels the effects of Lazarus Potion.
    : Add water, then add 2 Marigold and 1 Nettle, then finish the potion.
  • Moonshine
    Effect: A strong alcoholic drink. Watch out for the hangover!
    : Add spirits, then add 1 St. John's Wort, 1 Sage and 1 Mint and then DISTILL to finish the potion.
  • Nighthawk Potion
    Effect: The slightly toxic substances in the potion dilate your pupils, so your night vision is improved. For ten minutes you can see better in the dark.
    : Add water, then add 2 Eyebright, 1 Belladonna and 1 Cave Mushroom, then finish the potion.
  • Padfoot Potion
    Effect: Improves your hearing and lightens your step. Lockpicking, Pickpocketing and Stealth are increased by 5 for ten minutes.
    : Add water, then add 1 Cobweb, 1 Eyebright, 1 Valerian and Boil them then GRIND 1 Camomile and add to the cauldron, then finish the potion.
  • Poison
    Effect: A potion that poisons anyone who consumes it - makes health gradually deplete by 50.
    : Add oil, then add 2 Herb Paris and 1 Thistle, then finish the potion.
  • Preserver
    Effect: Keeps food fresh for longer and can even turn spoiled food into edible ones.
    : Add oil, then add 1 Mint, 1 Nettle and 1 St. John's Wort, then finish the potion.
  • Saviour Schnapps
    Effect: A liquor of exotic fragrance. Drinking it is an experience that can't be forgotten.Saves Game.
    : Add wine, then add 1 Nettle then BELLOWS x 4 and add 2 Belladonna, then finish the potion.
  • Tiredness Potion
    Effect: Drugs you to a comfortable state of inner tranquility.
    : Add oil, then add 2 Poppy and 1 Chamomile, then finish the potion.
  • Witch Potion
    Effect: he user will lose control of himself and will even sell his soul to the Devil. His hallucinations, delusions and anxiety will be more intense.
    : Add oil, then add 1 Herb Paris, 1 Marigold and 1 Belladonna, then finish the potion.

    DLC Potions
  • Musk of Infinite Allure
    Effect: Strictly for men - those who haven't take a vow of chastity.
    : Add water, then add 1 Sage, 1 Marigold, 1 Comfrey and 1 Cave Mushroon, then finish the potion.
  • Fake blood
    Effect: Turns water into blood. Or at least something that looks like blood.
    : Add wine, then add 1 Poppy, 1 Thistle and then GRIND 1 St. John's Wort and add it to the cauldron, then finish the potion.
  • Chamomile brew
    Effect: Adds 200 Health over a 5-hour period. Can be used together with Marigold Decoction and Lazarus Potion.
    : Add water, then add 2 Chamomile and 1 Sage, then finish the potion.

I did some independent study using Saviour Schnapps, brewing using the book with Bundle Alchemist will give you 4 potions, with the fast way, 2 potions, ALTHOUGH, it still gives you the same amount of experience regardless if you do it the intended or the fast way. Using Trial and Error, you can skip the boiling process completely and still get 2 Schnapps and the 40 experience. If you're grinding for experience, use the fast method

The problem with this guide, is that skipping all the ingredient grinding heavily reduces the number of potions created, example with the Trial and Error perk:
- Add oil, then add 1 St. John's Wort, 1 Nettle, 1 Belladonna and 1 Charcoal, then finish the potion -> 2 Bard potions
- Add oil, then grind 1 St. John's Wort, grind 1 Nettle, add everything, then finish the potion -> 4 Bard potions, 2 times more! And I believe this is the case for all potions

PS: same result if I boil, the boil doesn't matter with Trial and Error perk, but the grinding does

Do not follow this guide. When it comes time to AUTOBREW you will be screwed - even if you do the recipes correctly you will not get credit and the game will insist that you haven't done it before.

Also, the recipe for PADFOOT is incorrect. To be fair, the recipe in the game doesn't work either - I had to go sleuthing on youtube in order to get it to work.

Just follow the steps as laid out in the game and don't try to take shortcuts. This is my 6th run and I've never had issues with alchemy until I followed this 'guide'. I'm kinda pissed.

ARTEMISIA POTION DOESNT NEED BOIL ADD EVERYTHING THEN JUST FINISH AND IT WORKS

Not sure if they changed things, tried this for Nighthawk and didn't work (got unknown potion). Did exactly this:
Add water, then add 2 Eyebright (not grinded), 1 Belladonna and 1 Cave Mushroom. No boil, finish right away. Got unknown potion. I did however tried the 'optimized recipe' from the wiki :
Pour water into cauldron
Add listed ingredients in order into cauldron:
Belladonna
Two handfuls of Eyebright (do not grind)
Cave mushroom
Pull the bellows 3 times
Distill immediately

And it worked instead. Haven't tried the others.

There are some problems with the first time you make the Saviour Schnapps or when your alchemy is too low that will make the speed recipe not working.

I've changed the whole process of making Saviour Schnapps that should work regardless of your prerequisites.
