Introduction
Uru: Complete Chronicles, in its current state, lacks proper widescreen support. The official beta patch (v1.1.4 Beta) added widescreen resolutions to the launcher but didn't fix the game's broken FOV, resulting in everything appearing shrunk, similar to a 21:9 image on a 16:9 display. The Universal Widescreen Patcher has the same problem.

The procedure outlined in this guide addresses the FOV problem and restores correct proportions to the game, ensuring widescreen Uru looks as it should. Fullscreen 2D images will remain stretched to avoid garbage graphics.

The only downside of this method is that the FOV occasionally resets and stretches the image during certain camera switches in 3rd-person view. However, it can be quickly rectified by changing to 1st-person view and back. 1st-person view itself is unaffected by this issue.

Please note that only 16:9 resolutions are supported by this method.

Preparations
The tools and files we will need:
  1. jPortable[portableapps.com]
  2. Java Portable Launcher[portableapps.com]
  3. Drizzle 32[www.dropbox.com]
  4. Uru CC Official Beta Patch[community.pcgamingwiki.com]
  5. Offline KI[www.the-deep-island.de]
  6. Widescreen cursor fix[www.dropbox.com]
  7. Windows 10 mouse fix[www.dropbox.com]
Download all of the above.
Patching
  1. Place jPortable and Java Portable Launcher installers into the same folder where you want them to be installed.
  2. Install jPortable and Java Portable Launcher without modifying their installation paths.
(If you've done everything correctly, you will end up with JavaPortableLauncher and CommonFiles folders next to each other.)
  3. Extract the archive with Drizzle 32.
  4. Run Java Portable Launcher and open Drizzle32.jar from the folder where you've extracted Drizzle 32.
  5. In the UruAgeManager(UAM) tab of Drizzle 32, at the UAM Settings section in the top left, press the Select... button next to the Pots folder: and select your Uru CC installation folder.
  6. Switch to the Uru Widescreen tab.
  7. Press Change game aspect ratio, click Yes, and wait for the patching process to finish.
  8. Extract the dat folder from the archive with Offline KI, browse to that folder, sort all the files inside by type, select all the SUM files, and copy them to the dat folder of your Uru CC installation folder, replacing the existing files.
  9. Extract the archive with Uru CC Official Beta Patch and copy UruSetup.exe to your Uru CC installation folder, replacing the existing file.
  10. Extract the archive with the Widescreen Cursor Fix to your Uru CC installation folder, replacing the existing file.
  11. Extract the archive with the Windows 10 mouse fix and copy Win10MouseFix.dll to the ModDLL folder (create it) within your Uru CC installation folder.
Conclusion
Now all that's left to do is open the game's launcher, choose a widescreen resolution, and press Play.

When you launch the game for the first time, everything will appear stretched. However, if you followed the guide correctly, switching to 1st-person view and back should restore proper proportions. You'll need to do this switch whenever the game decides to reset the FOV, but it takes only a second.

Should you decide to use Steam overlay and have Steam count your game hours, once you complete the introductory desert level, right-click Uru: Complete Chronicles in your Steam library, choose Properties, and add the following launch option:
-iinit To_Dni
This will launch the game directly, skipping the launcher.

Enjoy your widescreen journey!

Great find, thanks, I will add this fix to the guide.

With the cursor fix, my first person view jumps back to the center, when i look around with right mouse key, but FOV is correct.

When i use the uruexplorer.exe from beta patch, i get the shrinking problem, but no aim/camera problems.

How to fix both?

I think your best bet is to use the Windows virtual machine to install and patch the Windows version following this guide, then replace the files of the Mac version with the patched / updated ones. I read the Mac version was made using a Wine wrapper, so the file structure within the virtual drive C folder it creates should (hopefully) be the same.

I find these downloads don't work on an iMac. Have you got a solution? I love the game but it's annoying having the screen as it is.

Actually, it seems to work with HTTPS as well, so I've updated the link. Shouldn't trigger any warnings now.

Yeah that might be it. It says the connection isn't secure but the download went through.

I just checked the Offline KI link and it works fine. It uses HTTP, check if your browser is not set to only allow HTTPS.

The Offline Ki links are all broken I've noticed. I tried downloading all the versions in the archive.

Thank you for your input, found the problem.
You can actually install it into any folder, but to do that you have to run the installer from that folder. If you change the installation path during the installation process, the CommonFiles folder is not created for some reason.
Edited the guide to address that. :)
