EGO ENGINE MULTICORE FIX

Does F1 2015 refuse to launch in your amazing new system? You've tried every Windows 8, 7, Vista, 98 and even MS-Dos compatibility mode and nothing seems to work? Worry no more! Here's the fix you've been searching for.

As some of you might know, EGO engine on its first iterations was not good detecting cpu cores, and by "not good" I meant crap. And by "crap" I meant "sh*t". And the release of F1 2015 is no exception. As Codemasters won't even let users to tinker with the files (which you could do on EGO 1.0 and EGO 2.0 engine) to fix this, the only thing that you can do is follow these steps:

1-Check the number of CORES that your CPU has
And I mean cpu cores, not threads. You can check this into the Task Manager / Performance / CPU page. For instance, a Ryzen 9 5950X has 16 cores, 32 threads. So 16 Cores it is.

2-Try to boot the game at least once
We need this step for the game to create a config file.

3-Modify the config file (first time)
Go to "%UserProfile%\Documents\My Games\F1 2015\hardwaresettings\hardware_settings_config.xml" open it with your file editor of choice (I recommend Notepad++) and change the line:

<cpu cores="32" hyperThreading="false" hyperThreadingProcessorStride="1" />

to your CPU number of cores. In this instance, a Ryzen 9 5950X had 16 cores, so the line will be:

<cpu cores="16" hyperThreading="false" hyperThreadingProcessorStride="1" />

And save the file.

4-Boot the game and setup your graphics and options, and then close the game.
Use this step to set your graphics properly, resolution, postprocessing... as the game will break the fix as you save your settings.
Then close the game.

5-Repeat step 3 again with a little twist
Repeat the 3rd step: open the file and correct your cpu core number. And save the file, and close it again. BUT, this time, you have to right click the file, press properties and check only read for the game not to be able to change the cpu core number each time you enter the game.

6-Now you are good to go!!
Just boot the game, forget any "Windows 8 compatible mode" and all that nonsense, and enjoy F1 2015!!
