I often find myself thinking, "is this item used as an ingredient, or should I just sell it right away?"

To alleviate my brain capacity a little bit, I thought I'd make a list of things to sell immediately and things to hoard for later crafting.

in general, I'd advise keeping some of every crafting item on hand in case you need them for random quests or jobs.

Currently, these items are not used in any recipes:

• Cauliflower
  
• Dragonfruit
  
• Eggplant
  
• Fairy Fruit
  
• Honeydew Melon
  
• Rockmelon
  
• Sourberry
  
• Square Watermelon
  
• Turnip

That means their only purpose is selling them right away.

For all other crops, fruits, foraged mushrooms etc., I'd advise using them in cooking recipes as it generally increases their monetary value.

Except for the Golden Chicken Egg (which you'll need 3 of for a quest), all produce is processable into other products.


Processing them not only increases their value but these processed items are also used in many other recipes. I'd advise keeping a stock on you for future crafting needs, and selling whichever overflow you may have.

The only fish used in any cooking recipes are:


All other fish are marked to sell immediately, or to end up in your aquarium!

Generally, any tree sap is worth turning into syrup or essence, its value will (more than) double.

The only exceptions are Pine Resin and Box Resin. Separately worth 40 and 60 gold respectively, but when crafted into Super Glue, worth only 60 gold (thus losing out on 40 gold when crafted for selling). If you don't need Super Glue for any crafting recipes, you're better off selling them separately.

Smelting 5 ores into 1 bar (more than) doubles its value, so generally speaking, don't sell ores as they are, stock them up to smelt them.

Selling bars is a quick way to make money, though I'd suggest stocking up on a few of them for later use in recipes such as spheres and orbs.

Selling shards isn't a good idea, you're better off hoarding them and crafting them into spheres and orbs.

Gems are generally just selling fodder, though some recipes use some gems, so you'd better hoard a few of them just to be sure.

Crafting 5 iron ore into a glass panel or crafting 3 quartz into a quartz panel decreases the mateirals' value. Not profitable, so only craft them if you need them for recipes.

Spinning 5 grass into a rope makes no change to the materials' value, so since you'd be losing time, not worth it unless you need rope for a crafting recipe.
