You ever wanted to make Portal animations on SFM but there are not that many maps Portal related for SFM? Dont worry, because in this guide i will teach you how to import the Portal or Portal 2 maps in SFM. First, you will need the Portal content pack installed (make sure that both Portal and Portal 2 is installed in the same drive as SFM otherwise it wont work).

With the portal content pack installed you will explore the internal files of Portal or Portal 2 by right clicking in the Steam Library and 'manage', then 'Browse local files'. (This part is for Portal 2 maps.) once youre there go to:
\Portal 2\portal2\maps then copy the files that you want to import (dont copy any other file that is not a .BSP file!!) if you dont know the name of the map file just search on Google the map name. After you finish copying the files, open Steam, go to the Library, right click on SFM, click 'manage', then 'Browse local files'. And go to: \SourceFilmmaker\game\portal2 and create a folder called 'maps'. and paste all of the maps you have copied inside the 'maps' folder you have created. And done! Now to load the maps in SFM just go to the map browser and go to 'portal2'and you will see the maps you pasted!

Now for the Portal 1 maps is the same as the Portal 2 maps but instead of going to the Portal 2 directory, youre going to right click on Portal in your steam library, click 'manage', and 'Browse local files', now youre going to this directory: \Portal\portal\maps after this is the same steps!

FAQ

Q: why portal content pack not working/not showing up on map browser?
A: right click on SFM in Steam Library and click 'launch', in the launch window click the 'Launch SDK' option. When a small window appears click in 'Edit Search Paths For Selected Mod', check all the contents packs and make sure that: portal2_dlc2; portal2_dlc1 and portal2 are checked and in the order i just showed. (top to bottom).

Q:why props not showing up?
A: SFM can't load some props like doors, laser catcher and emitter for some reason, but you can create an animation set for model and select the model you want and youre good to go!
