How to install Moguri 9.0/Memoria engine on Steam Deck (no yapping)
By ☆ Esse ☆
1) Install FF9 as you normally would.

2) Go to the game's properties on Steam and set compatibility to force Proton Experimental, then launch the game once and exit.

3) Go to Desktop mode and download Memoria.Patcher.exe from here https://github.com/Albeoris/Memoria/releases

4) Put the downloaded .exe file inside the game's folder (If you don't know where it is, go to the game's properties page, click "Installed files", then "Browse game files".

5) Add the downloaded .exe file inside the game's folder as a Non-Steam game and force its compatibility to Proton 9.0-2 (other versions might work just fine)

6) Run the patcher.

7) Run the game. A new launcher should appear with an included mod manager from where you can just download Moguri 9.0 and many other mods, as well as various engine tweaks.

Step 2 is not necessary, for step 3 you can also download it directly from the moguri website and for step 4 you can access it also by a right click, manage and browse game files.

Works like a breeze!
It's just insane how good it is, better then any remaster square enix could ever made. It's just stunning.

i recommend in the advanced settings to put 'realistic' on both off an on battle characters.
I recommend also playstation sounds and Psx buttons mods.
Also the options playstation font and remove the bubbles.
