How to beat Eigong & read her parry patterns

Making this guide because some people struggle with Eigong so I'm compiling patterns and thinks you should know

Why I create this guide.
Because holy f*ck Eigong is like Consort Radahn. Edit: Ok she isnt that bad. And we all know Radahn is bullsh*t. Despite Radahn can be cheese using bleed, this boss actually requires you to git gud.

And for those who are in despair, it took me roughly 6-8hrs ( or 3 days in and off because I wasnt in the mood ). Also sleeping helps because if you beat phase 1 and sleep, the next time you play, your brain will recognize patterns . You can brute force it if you are "lock-in" but if that doesnt work, just push it another day
OK, why should I trust your guide rather than others?
Well... I mean I'm not the best like OngBal nor am a hitless player but this means that if I do struggle and get hit and die multiple times, then this guide kinda caters to a lower skill level.

You can, by all means, go Youtube and look for better guides. I'm just putting this out here.

What Jades should I use?
Sooo here is where it gets interesting. From what I've seen on YT, there are technically 2-3 different ways to play it.

1) You can go the "hitless" parry counter dps way

or

2) You can go the "charge hit dodge" way.

or

3) Randomness ( i.e dodge, hit, parry everything )

I cant give you an answer for no 2&3 because I didnt went for that. I went for the "slowly dps from counter" method. The Jades we choose are
Why these? Here is the fundamental reasoning: IF you are spend 90% of the time parrying and not hitting (because you dont know the timing to attack or your respond time is slow), you are basically fighting against the clock + luck (luck as in whether your decision to dodging, parrying or timing is correct). Therefore, if parrying = free damage to Eigong, then all you have to do is cast talisman to proc damage.

Hedgehog for Red Counter Damage
Reciprocate for small instances of small damage reflected back. Over time, it adds up
IronSkin for if you miss timed and get hit, at least its internal damage, therefore parrying = heals back
Revival = 2nd life.
What skills should I pick?
For arrows, anything you prefer. I went with the basic one. ( FYI, if your corpse is on the floor, you get a free arrow shard so you can shoot 1 ahead of time )

For Transmute, well... there is only one choice

For Spell Type, I went with Water Flow because

1) I tried using Full Control, while it is the best DPS, it always leave me vulnerable to Eigong attacks so after trying it 20 times, I dont think its worth trading huge dps vs Eigong HP as its 3 phase while my heals are limited

2) Qi Blast is good but well.. you have to hold it for 3 charges and again, it leaves you vulnerable. Its bad DPS vs Full Control and bad usage vs water flow

3) Water flow is, imo, is the best because you just throw and thats it. Free talisman damage. More focus on fight, less chances of getting grab.
Phase One
The grab or blast attack

This moveset is one of the hardest to predict because both the grab and the blast is a hand gesture moveset. It takes awhile to get used to it. It will always be 1 grab + 1 blast, 2 grab + 1 blast or 3 grab / 3 grab + 1 blast afterwards.Weirdly I have notice that if you are literally near Eigong, she will always do a grab. I dont think there is a blast moveset near her. I might be wrong but thats what I've notice

The Thrust

The best or most annoying moveset. The best because this is where you can heal up by reflecting parry, annoying because the parrying timing is sometimes weird and instead of parrying, you get internal damage

The 4 hit combo

Simple basic move. I believe if you hold charge right from the beginning, she will always do this. Again, my assumption.

The Overhead Dash

Whenever she disappear, chances are, she is doing the overhead dash. Counter by dashing to 1 direction twice. If you go behind her overhead, you get less chance of getting hit vs dashing on her blade

Phase 2
Startup

Eigong will start with this 90% of the time. It will always be fire, slash, slash, fire. Look for her eyes, when she opens it, thats the time to release your unbound counter, then parry, parry, then unbound counter

The FireSlash that 4th attack could be fire or dash slash

When this happen, unbound, parry parry then unbound because if its dash, just unbound counter it 3x.

The "sike" move

When she does her blast in phase 2, there is a 50-50 that either she follows up with a dash attack or she allows you to hit her with the talisman. Too many times I got baited by it so just play safe and assume its always a dash

The most important pattern YOU MUST LEARN

Whenever Eigong tries to grab or EVEN missed the grab, she will follow ALWAYS follow up with 2 dash into the air and do a red blast. Even in phase 3, she still does this move.

To counter this, when she grabs, jump counter, parry parry unbound counter OR jump counter, dash, unbounded counter / dash away far.

If she missed her initial blast, she will ALWAYS do a follow up blast so countered that

Phase 3
The anime attack 1

Ok, you made it phase 3. Holy sh*t phase 2 was hard. What am I expecting now?

Well.. anime lol. What is anime? Anime is when she dashes through space and time

Anyway I'm going to categorize it as 4 anime attack. This is her first. It should always start with this moveset. I emphasis should because there are times she doesnt.

Anyway the order is parry parry jump, parry parry parry, jump counter parry unbounded counter.

The min she disappear on the screen and right as she appears on the other side, start pressing parry. Good rule of thumb for me is the min she disappear, I started parrying.

Problem is that if she changes to dash attack, then just 3x parry it

Assume everytime she disappears, its anime

Whenever she disappear, its anime

Lastly, the 4 swing attack that is a mixed up

Whenever she does the 4 swing combo, its a 50-50 of whether she throws the fire on the 4th or she will anime. As my vod says, assume its anime as anime does more damage than 1 fire damage.

Final Thoughts
Eigong is a hard boss. Nine Sols itself is a hard game. Google it and many people complain on its difficulty.

How I feel about Eigong as a final boss? Just like Consort Radahn or Radiant from HK, difficult final boss are a given. But here's the thing, she isnt BS like using after images lights that stagger your heals or does 2x HP damage to your character though. She is, equivalent to Saint Isshin where its fair but hard

I do however want to say 2 things. Firstly her phase 3, 90% of the time is anime so just parry it. Counter + Unbounded Counter Jades is wonderful here. The other thing is that it took me roughly 6-8 hrs ( around 3 days because of my mood ) to beat her. I'm not the type that hyper focus spend 6-8hrs on 1 go to beat a boss. I'm the type that plays around phase 1, enter phase 2, loses, look at YouTube for what is going on, analysis it and then try again the next day.

Why? Because its kinda a** to play and struggle to phase 3, only to anime and lose and not learn anything from it . So take your time and just dont get frustrated on it. Learn the parry pattern, stay cool and eventually you will get it!

Lastly, the normal ending is way better than the true ending.

Good luck, hope my guide helps!

Probably worth noting that the finisher of the Fire Slash combos are predictable. In Phase 2, she always alternates the last hit being another fire slash, or the dash slash. In phase 3, the sequence is "anime" attack > dash slash > fire slash.
