Map Editor and a new S.W.I.N.E. (English version)
By Spiderfish989
The purpose of my old guide has been changed.
First of all, I'll show you the Editor. What I tell you here might feel little, but there is a lot more to know.
Imagine a nut as an example. A nut's shell is hard and takes time to crack. The shell is what I can show you here. To crack the nut to get the inside is lying on my Discord Server. With the help of the community and assets, you can understand the game in a deeper level.
Secondly, I want to pour hope as a burning fire into the souls of the gamers that there is more than what you saw in the vanilla game.
Only staying between the four walls of the swine.exe, we so many options to choose from. With some creativity, you can create TowerDefense games; Rabbitania and Titapig can swim again (as a unit, even in multiplayer); rocket launching stations, fuel stations and even factories are possible with some creativity.

"There is no impossible but hard to get."

Opening the Editor
I'll show you where the editor.exe is found. (for the ones who haven't discovered it yet)

1. Search for the game "S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster" which appears on the left side of the screen among your other games inside your library.
2. Click on it with your RIGHT mouse button.
3. Choose these in order:
- Manage
- Browse local files
- (inside your files click on): "editor.exe"
Choosing filepath for the Editor (Navigation & Map Opening)
After opening the editor, you'll see a large black screen. This is because there is no map loaded, you need either to load or create one.

There are two options to choose from on the top: "File/New" to create a new map, or "File/Open..." to open an existing one. You can also click on the black screen to open an existing file. The first time you try opening a map, your File Browser won't know from where you want to load your maps, so you have to navigate through your files.

Search for the "Steam" folder, then in the following way you open "steamapps", in it you open "common" and "S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster". (the editor.exe won't be seen in it, because the editor can't open itself)
Possible filepath: "Steam/steamapps/common/S.W.I.N.E. HD Remaster"
The easiest method to find files to open, use the filepath you used in the File Browser earlier. Copy the path from the top of your Browser, then you get to the same destination.
From here: "gamedata/base/multimaps" to see the multimaps.

---> In case you want to place your files into a different folder for your newly made maps, ensure that you don't harm the contents of the "multimaps" folder or else you won't be able to play on those maps in multiplayer until you download those maps back. Or you might not be able to play on multiplayer at all (the second option isn't occurring frequently but may occur so be aware)
The top buttons and basic stuff (First Steps)
Now that you have an opened or created map, you should know how to modify it, right?

Check out the top buttons where you can access the basics of the editor and some main options to choose from.
(the picture is just illustration, no map had been opened, also some buttons have been cropped out)

1. File ---> All stuff related to files
2. Edit ---> You can make edits or reverse some mistakes you have made...etc.
3. View ---> This panel is where you can access panels helping you to edit a map.
4. Mode ---> All about effects, units, and other elements to insert or modify.
5. River ---> To create a river/modify (don't know much about this)
6. Help ---> to ask for help, but for me, it wasn't helpful though... (didn't work)
7. !Test in game! ---> For testing purposes, although you can also play your single-player maps here.

Under these, you find buttons with pictograms. These are mostly the quick buttons from the options accessible via the main buttons.

The other buttons using pictograms are to create, move, rotate, and more.
My current, broadly speaking experiences
The Hungarian version of my guide was created years ago, but since then I discovered a lot more than I can say here, also the Editor itself is just a small experience than what's lying there still.

I stated, that there is no way to play single-player missions you made in the Editor in the past, but now I discovered it is only half true. Using modding tools, you can put your maps into the missions folder and play your custom maps in single-player mode, but it doesn't stop here.

Of course, this isn't the modification of the exe itself (because it is compiled and decompilation is a pain, but I'm working on it), but I could create an almost different game just by unpacking and repacking its game pak. It isn't an easy thing to do, but because I spent hours making this unpacking easy, you'll get the files you need to make the game working by using your modifications.

Interested? There is more information on my Discord Server [discord.gg] I'm glad there is somebody interested in seeing the new face of the game.
