Bailey was among the first to popularize the terms New Age and Age of Aquarius. In 1915, Bailey discovered "Theosophy" - a mystical doctrine which holds that all religions are attempts by the 'Occult Brotherhood' to help humanity evolve to greater perfection. One morning in 1919, Bailey heard a voice instructing her to write down what it told her. This channeled communication led to Bailey writing a total of 24 books wherein she mentions the “Masters of the Wisdom,” a brotherhood of enlightened beings working under the guidance of "the Christ." Bailey wrote that a New World Religion will be promoted and enforced through a geopolitical system. Bailey stated that this political body will be the vehicle for a “new” religious order to achieve “ancient” spiritual goals. This New Age & Occult New World Religion will be build upon the ancient pantheistic ideas of Eastern mysticism, drawing many of their teachings from Buddhism, while containing a public appearance of being "Christianity", with the Roman Catholic Church acting as bridge.

“He, the Representative of the love of God, is asked to work again in the world arena wherein His earlier message has been negated, forgotten or misinterpreted for two thousand years, and wherein hate and separativeness have distinguished all men everywhere. Then His task will be done; He will be free again to leave us, but this time not to return but to leave the world of men in the hands of that great spiritual Server Who will be the new Head of the Hierarchy, the Church Invisible.”

“He has been for two thousand years the supreme Head of the Church Invisible, the Spiritual Hierarchy, composed of disciples of all faiths. He recognises and loves those who are not Christian but who retain their allegiance to Their Founders—the Buddha, Mohammed and others. “Why do such teachings as astrology, numerology and various magical rituals find so many adherents whilst the churches remain empty or are only attended by old people, the conservatives and reactionaries or by those who go there by force of habit, or desperate unhappiness?
