MVC2 Assist Type Reference Sheet
By Katros and 1 collaborators
This guide highlights what each character's Assist Type is and what moves, Counters and Hyper Combos each one uses, so no one has to wonder what the heck the game means by it's Type naming fashion again.

Glossary
In case you're unfamiliar with the acronyms in the table below, I've made this list to remind you what they mean:

  • LP = Low Punch
  • HP = Heavy Punch
  • LK = Low Kick
  • HK = Heavy Kick
  • Cr. = Crouching
  • St. = Standing

*Note: This Glossary, and by extension the table, does not use MP or MK (Medium Punch, Medium Kick) as Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is a 4 button game, and medium attacks are done instead by pressing LP and LK twice, so there are no Special Moves associated with them. Because of that, I refer to Assist Actions that make use of medium attacks as "Second of hit of" to be 100% clear.

Notes
Rogue's Hyper Repeated Punches, Zangief's Hyper Double Lariat and Silver Samurai's Hyper Hyakuretsuto can be performed when the respective characters have 1 bar of Hyper Meter or are the last character standing, by pressing the same command for Team Hyper Combos.

  • The tables above are arranged in the same order of the character select screen, from left to right, top to bottom.

  • The table uses the term "Assist Action" due to the fact that characters can use things besides Special Moves, such as Command Normals or even regular attacks. Some even have moves unique to their assists that they cannot use in regular play, such as Ruby Heart's Power Up Orb.

  • The Special Moves and Hyper Combos use the names taken directly from the the in-game move list, to make things easier. Other online resources tend to use the Japanese names instead or other means of reffering to certain moves.

In case I got something wrong, please feel free to mention it in the comments, so that I may correct it.
