Turtle School Challenge Achievements
"Turtle School Trainee", "Turtle School Master" & "Turtle School Legend"
Complete a Turtle School training challenge and report to Master Roshi, Complete 20 Turtle School training challenges and report to Master Roshi, & Complete 50 Turtle School training challenges and report to Master Roshi.

These challenges are in abundance. You'll most likely get them passively as you play the game normally. You can earn them in battle, by completing trainings, finishing story arcs and many other ways.

If you want to view any you've completed or can complete, enter the pause menu and select "Story" to view all potential challenge achievements. I wouldn't worry about going for any in particular (unless you want the rewards), as there are a plethora of them and going through the main story will net you 50 completed challenges without even trying.

When you've completed any, visit Master Roshi at Kame House to turn them in for credit and rewards; you can turn them in all at once the Frieza Arc is over and probably clear all three achievements just by playing the game normally up to that point.

These challenges are a great way to earn the D-Medals needed for the 100 D-Medal achievement; they pay out a great deal of medals for completing the challenges, making manually searching for the medals kind of pointless in the long run.

Once you complete at least 50 challenges, you'll have unlocked all the achievements needed for this portion of the game.

Training Achievements
"Push It to the Limit"
Complete 10 challenges at a Training Grounds location with any character.
Training challenges are marked in each area of the world by the green arm icon and display a blue glowing spot on the ground when you go there.

You just need to complete 10 training challenges with any one character, which, due to how high you need to be leveled, will be something you probably earn when you complete all the story arcs and are left to your own devices at the end.

"Tough Enough"
Complete a Level 10 challenge in the Training Room.
The training room in question is located inside Capsule Corporation, to the right of the entrance. Speak to Android 21, the "female researcher" to learn more.

In essence, you'll need to upgrade the training simulator to level ten. Each level requires certain materials, zeni and other parts. In total, you need the following for each level:

Most of the materials you should be able to earn enough of during your time through the main story. Make sure to turn in any challenges to Master Roshi at Kame House for the rewards. As I gathered the dragon balls for the achievements, I kept wishing for zeni and rare materials (mostly the materials) so it cut down on any hunting I really had to do for most things in the game.

If you do that, a good portion of side quests and pick up medals when you find them (don't go hunting, as that isn't necessary), you should easily have more than necessary.

Lastly, for the black and white meteorites, the quickest way to gather those is to go to the Land of the Kais. There are two mineral deposits there that always give at least one of each. Once you've collected all the minerals, go to another location, then return once more and they appear again. It makes for very simple farming of necessary material.

Do this as Gohan or Goku and you can easily earn some of the King Kai telepathic messages too while you're at it.
D-Medal Achievements

"Medal Madness" & "Heavy Medal"
Collect 10 D Medals & Collect 100 D Medals.

D-Medals are used to unlock new and more powerful Super Attacks during the game. The achievements require, at minimum, for you to collect 100 medals.

That may sound like challenge to collect so many medals, but you're in luck, because the game has an abundance of medals! There are hundreds of them! Maybe even over 9,000 of them!

No, no, there aren't that many in the game, but there are enough to where you don't need to actively hunt for them to the point of exhaustion like some collectathons you probably played in the past. You should be able to find 100 of them with relative ease.

They show up around the map as glowing orbs that color shift and sparkle. You can also earn D-Medals from progressing the main story and other activities during your playthrough.

The first achievement is for 10 medals and the second is for 100 medals. After that, there are no achievements for collecting more, let alone all of them that the game has.

Super & Mastery Attack Achievements
"Newfound Power"
Acquire a Super Attack or Mastery in the Super Attack Skill Tree.
You'll unlock this just after the tutorial when you first go to Kame House to talk to Master Roshi. Krillin will spar with you and upon winning the bout, you'll unlock this achievement and earn a new Super Attack: Consecutive Energy Blast".

"The Power of Friendship"
Use 10 Super Attack Assists.
Super Attack Assists are available to you whenever you have a party member with you during a fight. You can earn it as early as the fight with Napa during the Saiyan Arc.

Once you finish the Freiza Arc, though, you will finally unlock the ability to have an actual party and can set two additional characters to help fight with you in battle. If you still need it, assign any two and enter the battle. Select the right bumper [RB] and then whatever move is tied to the corresponding button input [X,Y,A, or B].

You can adjust, add or remove members of your party under the "Party" tab in the options; changing the skills or adding them is under the "Super Attack Palette" option under "Party"

Do this any ten times to unlock the achievement.

"Highly Skilled" & "A Super Warrior Is Born"
Acquire 50 Super Attacks or Masteries in the Super Attack Skill Tree & Acquire 100 Super Attacks or Masteries in the Super Attack Skill Tree.
Super Attacks are learned by leveling up your character and then visiting the green workout icons on the overworld map and using D-Medals to enter a battle; upon winning said battle you will either learn a new move or increase the power level of a pre-existing move you already have.

Masteries are located in the "Characters" option and viewable by selecting the character you wish to see and selecting the "Super Attack Skill Tree". Unlocking new moves or leveling them up through "Masteries" require both Z-Orbs and a base level requirement that will be indicated by each icon within the skill tree.

Unlock any 50 across any characters to obtain this achievement, then unlock a total of 100 across any characters to obtain the final achievement in this category.
Substory Achievements
"Helping Hand" & "Do-Gooder"
Complete a sub story & Complete 10 sub stories.

Sub-story missions appear on the map as soon as you visit the Kame House in the very beginning of the game. In fact, you'll have one available right away if you speak to Turtle.

You can think of sub-story arcs as side missions or side quests that are in most RPGs. They are scattered around the map and become available as you progress the main story.

They appear on your radar and above certain NPC's heads as a blue exclamation point and offer short side missions for various rewards, D-medals and other goodies. You need only complete one for the first achievement and ten for the second achievement for sub-stories.

Much like other milestones in this game and collectible items, there are far, far more sub-stories than what you're required to complete. In fact, there's 92 sub-stories in total, so completing them is a breeze.

Instant Kill Achievements
"Not Worth My Time" & "Can't Touch This"
Get an instant victory on an enemy & Get 50 instant victories on enemies.

Instant kills are battle victories where you are much stronger than an enemy and blast right through them, killing them instantly.

You don't need to be that far along in the game to be considered "much stronger" than some of the enemies Around level eight or so you can start insta-killing low level robots from the Red Ribbon Army.

When you sense an enemy in the wild, you'll see a distance marker and when they spot you, a golden eye marker over them, concluding the fight instantly and being given experience, rewards and a rating to indicate you've beat said foe.

When they get close, use your super boost to blast right past them. You can either let them get right next to you and then use your super boost, or if you're already boosting, simply fly into them to auto conclude the fight.

By default, it is done by pressing down the left thumb stick if you're using a controller to play. You only need to do this once to unlock the first achievement, then a total of 50 times during the course of your play time to unlock the second achievement tier.

You can farm instant battles during the course of the main story, so I wouldn't farm them unnecessarily unless you want to. Just take the opportunity when they arise to get one here and there and you shouldn't have any issues.

If you're looking to knock these out quickly, travel to the Kame House region; flying enemies are everywhere and make racking up instant wins extremely simple.
Z Combo/Super Finish Achievements
"Z Combo Zealot"
Perform 10 Z Combos.
Z-Combos are synchronized group attacks when you're partied up with one or two additional characters. This isn't available all the time, as you can't always select a party during the main campaign at certain intervals, but when you can (or at the end of the game), I recommend selecting just one partner.

The reason being, is that both partners (if you select two) have to have their meter full to use the attack and I just found it substantially easier with one person.

During the fight, have the AI controlled character use their attacks to boost the meter. You can see it on the lower-right side of your screen as shown here.

When you fill it, you'll see instructions in the lower-left corner of your screen indicating you can use your Z-Combo ability. You need to do this 10 times at any point during the game to unlock the achievement for this.

You can increase the amount the meter starts at when you first enter battle by increasing the Z Warrior Community Board under the "Community" menu when you pause the game. Maxing it out will start the support gauge much higher, making pulling off these combos quite quick.

"Flashy Finish"
Win a battle with a Super Finish.
A Super Finish is accomplished by finishing a battle under a specific number of circumstances. First, you need to fill your "Surge Gauge" with any Saiyan character that can transform (Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan Level 2..etc).

Transform into whatever transformation you want and finish the battle with the final blow being either a Kamehameha or Spirit Bomb. The easiest way to do this is during the Frieza arc when Goku first turns into a Super Saiyan, as the surge meter is full and does not drain during the entire battle.
Z Encyclopedia Entry Achievements

Z Encyclopedia Entries are little snippets of information about past events from the massive amounts of lore circling around Dragon Ball Z and more. The collecting of these little bits of knowledge follow the same route as D-medals in that, there are far more available than the achievements require you to earn.

In total, the game boasts over 900 entries (984 in total to be exact), but the highest achievement requires only 400 that need to be collected, which is roughly around 40% of the total entries available.

Listen to Gohan and don't stress about collecting them all (unless you want to)!

"Tell Me More"
Unlock an entry in the Z Encyclopedia.
This achievement, while not guaranteed as part of the opening introduction, is practically impossible to miss. When you first arrive home after fishing with Gohan, the tutorial will tell you to "Explore the house" and this encyclopedia entry will be inside said house.

Easy stuff!

"Thirsty for Knowledge"
Unlock 200 entries in the Z Encyclopedia.
Now, 200 entries sounds a bit daunting, but it really, really isn't. From the start of the game, up until you complete the first story arc (Saiyan Saga) where Goku faces off against Veget, you'll earn enough to unlock this achievement.

If you focus on the blue side quests as they pop up in conjunction with the main story, you'll unlock 200 by the time you start the second story arc.

"Fountain of Knowledge"
Unlock 400 entries in the Z Encyclopedia.
The final achievement requires the collection to grow to 400 entries. When you finish the Freiza Arc and start the third arc, you'll visit enough new areas to unlock this achievement. As mentioned above, there are so many entries that these will come naturally as you progress the main story.

I believe I unlocked this achievement at the beginning of arc three; at that time I maybe only gathered 10-15 unique entries that are scattered around the world. The rest came with my normal progression.
Villainous Enemy Achievements
"A Dark Omen", "Evil All Around" & "Evil All Around"
Defeat your first Villainous party, Defeat 20 Villainous parties & Defeat 30 Villainous parties.
Villainous enemies start appearing when Gohan goes through his training with Piccolo, specifically when he returns home and runs into Puar when they're out searching for ingredients for Yamcha.

Your first encounter is scripted as part of the story, showing Puar getting attacked by two robots engulfed in a deep read aura. Any enemy classed as "Villainous" will be significantly stronger than their regular counterpart.

Defeat the first par as part of the story to unlock this achievement. There are subsequent achievements for further destroying 20 and 30 of these types of enemies.

Make sure to scout them before engaging them, as their levels can be imbalanced (kind of the point of them) to the level you're on. When you first unlock them, they are typically +20 levels higher than you.

As you progress the story, the enemies you face will increase in level and be in teams of up to three people, making the battles rathering challenging. You can always over-level if you're finding them too difficult.

By the time you finish all four story arcs, though, you shouldn't have much trouble cleaning them all up; you'll be much stronger than the remaining villainous enemies on the map.

As you defeat more and more of these enemy types, you'll notice they get stronger and stronger, even having you face off against old rivals. You might even see a mysterious girl summon more of them as you defeat them.

To unlock the final achievement associated with these enemies, defeat all the ones you find on the map to summon Mira to the Land of the Kais. Defeat this being to unlock the final achievement for this section.

"Down with the Demon Realm!"
Win the battle against Mira.
Telepathic Message Achievements
"The Voice in My Head" & "Who Needs a Phone?"
Receive a telepathic message from King Kai & Receive 20 telepathic messages from King Kai.
After completing the Saiyan Saga with the return of Goku, King Kai will, on occasion, send you messages telepathically for doing certain activities.

Some may be story based, but others can be for simple activities like collecting a bunch of Z orbs, hunting animals, collecting minerals. You can start earning this achievement as early as the second story arc when you take up playing as Gohan.

Some users reported that they had issues getting the achievement to count if they were playing as other characters like Vegeta, so keep that in mind if you're experiencing difficulties. I can confirm it counts as Gohan and Goku during my playthrough, though I only ever received one initial one with Gohan, then the rest with Goku & Gohan (nobody else), as they seemed to occur more frequently with the pair instead of not at all with any other characters.

If you're having trouble getting King Kai to send you some, I found he does frequently when collecting minerals with Gohan or Goku.
Full-Course Meal Achievements
"There's Nothing Like a Home-Cooked Meal!" & "Only the Finest"
Make a full-course meal & Make 5 full-course meals.

After the conclusion of the Sayian Saga arc, you'll return home and be instructed by Chi-Chi to go on a simple fetch quest to pick up a recipe and you'll be given the ingredients to make a "full-course meal".

The first meal is story-based, so you can't miss it. The second tier of this achievement is to make five full-course meals in total. What that means is five different meals, not the same one five times. Most are obtained by just talking to certain people in particular areas of the game, while the others are unlocked doing the blue side quests. Each full-course recipe only counts once towards the achievement.

There are a total of 14 different meals you can find:
  • Meat Course Recipe - Given as part of the main story.
  • Ramen Course Recipe - Speak to a "Foodie" west of the Central Plains Area in Blake Bog.
  • Pasta Recipe - Speak to a "Calm Man" sitting on a log to the Southwest of the Central Plains Area in Gizard Wasteland. You can find him near the southwestern-most apple icon by a ship.
  • Seafood Course Recipe - Complete the "Attacked Villager" sub-story during normal gameplay.
  • Ramen & Rice Recipe - Talk to the "Gourmet" at Satan City. You gain access to Satan City in during the fourth story arc.
  • Deluxe Meat Recipe - Complete the "Frequently Attacked Villager" sub-story.
  • Deluxe Seafood Recipe - Talk to "Fisherman" just outside of West City.
  • Deluxe Pasta Recipe - Talk to the "Sweet Old Woman" at Satan City. You gain access to Satan City during the fourth story arc.
  • Special Meat Recipe - Talk to "Gentle Old Woman" at the World Tournament Arena during the fourth story arc.
  • Special Ramen Recipe - Talk to the "Kooky Cook" in West City.
  • Super Deluxe Meat Recipe - Complete the "Anxious Android" sub-story.
  • Super Deluxe Seafood Recipe - Talk to the "Gentle Girl" at the World Tournament Arena.
  • Premium Meat Recipe - Complete the "Buu the Bottomless Pit" sub-story.
  • Premium Seafood Recipe - Complete the "Continually Attacked Villager" sub-story.
  • Heavenly Ramen Recipe - Complete the "Perpetually Attacked Villager" sub-story.
Dragon Ball (Shenron) Achievements
"Wish Maker", "Getting Greedy" & "Shenron's Favorite"
Summon Shenron from the Dragon Ball menu to make a wish, Summon Shenron 5 times from the Dragon Ball menu to make a wish & Summon Shenron 10 times from the Dragon Ball menu to make a wish.

When you finish the Freiza arc and return to planet Earth, the dragon balls will have returned with the resurrection of Kami and allow you to search for them to make wishes.

The dragon balls will appear randomly around the various areas you have unlocked and be marked by a dragon ball icon next to the area in the overworld map. Simply go to said location and mark the map where the dragon ball is and pick it up.

Multiple dragon balls can appear in one location and, if in the same area marked on the map, the image will rotate between the ball and whatever other icon of interest is on the map. Once you have them all, go to the pause menu and select "Dragon Balls" and you'll be able to make a wish.

For all my wishes, I just wished for rare items to cut down on having to find them for various side quests, full-course meals and other oddities, though it is up to you. I wouldn't bother wishing for orbs since you will be overflowing with them as you play; money is marginally more important, but not really necessary.

Once your wish is granted, the dragon balls will vanish and reappear in 20 minutes of gameplay.

Boulder Achievements
"Excavator" & "Demolition Artist"
Destroy a boulder blocking a cave & Destroy 10 boulders blocking caves.
Boulders are available during almost the entire game and can be broken at certain levels. Typically, boulders are found near mineral and ore deposits that are marked on the map. Not every mineral location will be in cave with a boulder blocking the entrance.

You'll need to be a certain level to be able to broken certain boulders, so waiting a bit until your strong enough is advised before hunting for them.

You need only break one for the first achievement and then ten total for the final achievement. If you're having issues locating some of the caves, below are ten needed for the final achievement in this area, indicated by the blue star. There are far more than ten in total though; this is just a list of enough to make quick work of the achievement if you don't feel like searching.

Machine Building Achievements
"Let the Building Begin!", "Robot Rider" & "Get out of My Head and Turn into My Car"
Build a machine part, Build a Bipedal Robo Walker, & Build a hovercar.
The ability to build, upgrade and use machines comes during the android arc, which is the third arc of the game.

You'll eventually have a gravity room built for Vegeta and a series of requests from Bulma will come up while you're playing as Goku. You'll then have access to her building skills when you visit Capsule Corp. in West City.

You just need to build a machine part for this first achievement, which can be done with the scrap metal you've been accumulating for some time now.

Use it to create the components for the walker or hover car to unlock this achievement. You should have all the parts by now if you've been collecting during your travels.

There's a lot of spare components around the outside of Capsule Corp as well if you happen to be short on supplies.

Once you make all the parts for the walker and the hovercar, have Bulma put them together and you'll unlock the achievement for each respective unit.
Story Achievements
"Former Foe"
Win the simulation battle against Piccolo.
This story achievement will be the first one you unlock in the game as part of the opening tutorial.

"Worse For Wear"
Complete the Saiyan Saga.
This story achievement unlocks after finishing the first story arc at the end of the battle between Goku and Vegeta.

"Emperor No More"
Complete the Frieza Saga.
This story achievement unlocks after finishing the second story arc at the end of the battle between Goku and Frieza.

"Earth's New Champion"
Complete the Cell Saga.
This story achievement unlocks after finishing the third story arc at the end of the battle between Gohan and Cell.

"Bye-Bye, Buu"
Complete the Majin Buu Saga.
This story achievement unlocks after finishing the fourth and final story arc during the final battle between Goku and Buu.
Completion Achievements
"Dragon Ball Master"
Obtain all achievements.
Once you've earned all the above achievements, you'll unlock this final one. You're done! Congratulations!
