Amalgamation: Farseer Primary Spec

Description
"By the time we understood what they meant with 'Farseer', they were quite attached to their Sniper Rifles. These Psionics have greater vision than our normal troops and learned a few tricks under their special training, albeit they don't know how to work with Spotters."



General

Farseer is a primary spec that is a mix of a Sniper and a Psionic, relying on its extra sight range, instead of squadsight, to dish out the pain in a semi safe position. It has lower base aim than probably any other spec in the game, but it's made up by it's Farsight skill, which gives temporary bonuses to aim, more sight radius and crit chance, but it's capped in charges.


Skills

Squaddie
  • Farsight: Increase aim by 30, crit by 40 and sight radius by 2. 2 turn duration, 2 turn cooldown, 3 charges per mission.
Psi deck(Corporal & Major)
  • Blink: Teleports a very shot distance, free action.
  • Evil Gaze: A spell that uses this unit's Psi offense versus the target's will to determine if it hits. Deals acid damage and might panic. Ends turn.
  • Delayed Blast Fireball: A spell that uses this unit's Psi offense versus the target's will to determine if it hits. Ignites on hit and sticks the target with a psionic homing mine. Ends turn.
  • Tet Mamak La: A spell that uses this unit's Psi offense versus the target's will to determine if it hits. Inflicts Blood Curse, 1 action, doesn't end turn.
  • Lightning Bolt: A spell that goes in a line, dealing electric damage and applying electroshock, more damage to electronic and foes vulnerable to this type of damage.
Sniper deck(Sergeant & Colonel)
  • Damn Good Ground: Gives +10 aim and defense against enemies on lower elevation.
  • Soul Harvest: +5 crit per enemy killed, up to 20.
  • Psychic Reload: reloads 1 ammo after using a psionic skill.
  • Blood Grapple: Cost 2 HP to grapple to a higher elevation. Free action, 1 turn cooldown.
  • No Mercy: Fires another shot against target that are flanked, works on overwatch. Passive
Weapon deck(Lieutenant)
  • Impetus: A shot that deals more damage the further away this unit is.
  • Out for a kill: Uses all ammo on a shot, but reloads fully if it kills.
  • Burial Shot: A shot that refunds action if it kills
Farshot Deck(Captain)
  • Farshot: Damage: Fires a psionically infused bullet that deals damage in a line. More psi = more damage. Doesn't affect cover & terrain.
  • Farshot: Shred Fires a psionically infused bullet that shreds armor in a line. More psi = more shred. Deals no damage.
  • Farshot: Damage: Fires a psionically infused bullet that deals devastating damage to terrain & cover. Deals no damage to units.
Brigadier
  • Mind to mind, Eye to eye: Fires a psionically charge bullet that overcharges the target's critical systems on contact, dealing more crit damage based on your Psi offense.

Balance and Ideology

This spec is on the 'strong' side, albeit it's different than most specs and calsses out there. It takes a few missions to take the hang of it, being a mix of psionic and mobility sniper whilst not having mobility is weird. But while playtesting it deffinitelly opened my eyes, no pun intended but welcomed. This spec is intended to play with either PEXM and/or other psionic classes, but not required. Numbers can get really high with those two together, and I quite have fun seeing the big numbers. Like most of my specs, I had a blast playtesting this one, I had so much fun! But also had so much pain, skills not working properly, discovering it was something simple, and learning. This spec started with 9 + 3 sight radius here and there, up to 15... Was too broken, discovered that base units have 27 sight radius, reduced to 6, +2 with Farsight when I finally got to make that skill, am happy with the result.

Oh wow, it's been... months since I started working on this spec. I had a very silly idea: A psi sniper, there was only Adversary and Sharpshooter then! With original names being "Soul seeker" or "Spirit Sniper", I thank XpanD for this glorious Farseer name, playing on 3 different fronts: Magical, guy that sees far, and the fact that you need to play a turn in the future to use Farsight to its finest. It's... glorious. Enough rambling, this spec is probably on the strong side, but it requires a few missions for you to get the hang of it.

Wow, this one was intense. Am playing in and out with it for the past couple weeks, and am very happy with it.
