the whole dang thing
Stoneship age solution is: Leaf, Snake, Beetle
Mechanical Age: 2:40 and 2.2.1
Channelwood age: Head for the wooden hut. Go round to the right hand side and find the tall tree. Go back into the hut. Note the furnace, pressure gauge and the large red wheel. Turn round and open the safe using the Key.
Strike a light and ignite the furnace. Turn the wheel fully to the right and wait - it takes a little while to heat the water. When there is enough pressure (and the machinery starts banging away) go outside to the tall tree. Look what has appeared. Back into the hut, close the wheel and rush back outside to the tree. Jump in the lift and keep going down to the bottom.
Top Tip: If the lift comes down too quickly, leave a bit of pressure in the system. Channelwood Age: 7, 2, 4
Spaceship age solution is: 4, 7, 8, 9
THE FINAL SOLUTION
By now you should have retrieved all of the red or blue pages and found the two halves of the message. Now copy the pattern from the correct page in the half burnt book (the page number was given to you by Achenar or Sirrus).
Carry out the instructions given on the message - if you need reminding then it was to turn on all the Marker Switches except for the one on the dock which should be off - pick up the page from the pedestal and return to the library.
Climb into the fireplace and press the button. Replicate the pattern on the screen (an X means press here):
XXOOOOXX
OXXOXOXX
XOXOOOXX
XOOXOOXX
XXOOXXOO
XXXXXOXO
SAVE YOUR GAME NOW! The rest is up to you - you can decide to Trust Achenar or Sirrus or go for the green book.
If you got it right Atrus greets you and asks for the page. He enters the linking book and returns a short while later. He offers you the chance to return to Myst and since there is little else you can do here, leave.
MYST
In the library you will see a book on the floor, pick it up and flick through to the illustration. Note the changes that Atrus has made. He has also destroyed the Blue and Red books so no return for his sons. Go to the dimensional imager and set the controls to 40 and power up the machine. Round the back of the imager is another button. Press it. Now look at the control panel - this place is full of hidden things. Press the button and the ring rotates. It seems that you need to go to the spaceship. Walk down to the left of the path to a new doorway. Go inside and at the end is a control unit hanging from the ceiling. Enter the code: 2735 and press the button. Head back to the library and Taa Daa - another book.
THE RIME AGE
It's cold here. head for the hut and go inside. The other door is frozen shut - try lighting the stove, it sparks but there is no gas. Go back outside and turn on the gas. Now light the stove and the ice melts. Open the door and walk down the tunnel to the end. Click on the door and get into the elevator. Press the up button. At the top is a control unit - pull the lever and enjoy the show. The little lever changes the colours. Pretty.
Turn round and you can see a red switch on the wall which rotates the elevator. Read the journal then get back into the elevator. Press the down button and there is another tunnel. At the end press the green button and at last you can see what he was talking about. On the table is a note from Catherine. Note the shapes and colours of the crystals. Go to the linking book and click on the five disks. First thing to do is match the crystals to the drawings. Then pass your hand over each one to changes the colours:
Rime Crytals
Note the center crystal is turquoise not blue
Now press the red button and you will be rewarded with an image of Riven.
And that's it. Except to ask, who was Ti'ana?

Thanks for the guide (had to remind myself about the tall tree, which was right pain in the аss to locate in this pre-rendered version of the game)
Just would like a clarification: does the normal Myst end just like that: with you going back to Myst island, with no fanfare or credits for completing the game with ostensibly good ending?

thanks for the correction @Degradoid.

I should note that there is no Rime Age in Myst: Masterpiece Edition.
This Age appeared in RealMyst only.
