Null Sector: map
Rule 1: Dont laugh

All path should be included in ashland part.
Can add more cave location if someone comment where are they.

Icesheet is really a sheet so nothing much worth to map.
Some of the cave in icesheet are pretty special. and some cave entrance is filled up with ice instead of stone.
Tunnel in G13G14H13H14 are connected and extremely complicate to explore. The tunnel consist at least 4 exit and multiple cave. Some part of the tunnel doesn't have debuff.

green = no caveworm and safe cave
grey = cave without lava
red = lava+ pit hazard
orange= lava cave require ramp to explore
yellow= cave with lava
pink= multiple layer cave required ramp
blue = ice lake cave
purple= cool ice cave with multiple layer.
white= ultimate large cave

pickaxe icon= not ground level cave/extra floor tile required to reach.
icon with sun = tunnel.
Chicken thigh= cave scanner tell me there is a cave I can't find it.

paint.exe version
Red line = path
Red circle = really wide path.
Brown circle = cave (could be more than )
Brown line = rampable mountains
Star = landmark

Thanks paint.exe for this map.
Dont forget a like if this map helps.
Null sector basics
Skip to map part if you just want the MAP and mission guide , first part was trash talk

How to get there
The legit entrance of Null sector is at cave in grid O6
You need to go to lava biome 1.0 first with
1. cave tunnel at I4 all the way to I3
2. cave tunnel at L3 to K3 in swamp biome.
3. canyon at bottom right grid at L3.
4. canyon at Top right at L6
Then you need to go to lava biome 1.0 then lava biome 2.0 via the only cave in top left corner of M2.
You can find interactive map quite easy so wont go details on that.
Of course you can build until OOB as well to null sector.

Limitation of null sector and how to counter it

Null sector divide into 4 biome and each of them got wide area debuff for character and mounts as well.
Ashland (+500% water consumption)
Icesheet (+50% food consumption and reduced movement speed)
Middle Icesheet (+50% food consumption)
Upper Icesheet (+50% food consumption )

In addition, the deep freeze will NOT produce ice AND you can't use any orbital uplink tech (OEI) and you can't call dropship with the beacon.

There are no water,oxide vowel, tree and fibre in null sector.

How to survive in null sector for short period of time
reference shopping list:

Water 15L(3x Thermos/canteen)
aluminum ramp x40
aluminum floor x20
concrete floor x20
concrete ramp x20
1x1 concrete shelter (if you know what i am talking about, dmm dev about dirt bug fix again)
bedsheet
non-wood hammer
any pickaxe (of course Inaris "Neves" Pickaxe (-50% Over-Encumbrance Penalty) will be the best)
campfire (of course workshop campfire is the best)
10 coal for campfire
knife
bow &arrow OR shotgun& ammo (100 is enough , you will try to avoid combat )
dried food x20 (reduce food consumption)
Some health pots.
concrete armour
torch
i will choose concrete armour over obsidian armour since it gives better cold debuff and u can counter most of the ashland night and icesheet with torch or/and hot drink.

And most importantly a mount (BIRD), you can run with bird without water.

Additional shopping list if you decided to build a base in null sector to avoid going back and forth from your distant base to null sector. Which is extremely useful when u decided to finish all null sector in openworld

3x3 concrete building
300x wood log
water pipe tool
electric wire tool
miasma pickaxe
Electric Masonry Bench (which can make concrete mix and any good building deployable)
Electrolytic Oxygen Synthesizer
Electric Water Purifier
Rain reservoir
Organic Residue Cleanser
deep ore scanner(workshop version one for scanning frozen log node)
ice borer
portable biofuel tank(150L version) x1
biofuel tank (10L version) x1
Electric Dehumidifier
Heavy Heater
Material Processor
electric furnace
Solar Panel x2
Advanced Battery Rack x4
CONT4CT Device with all upgrade
Orbital Exchange Interface+ranching station (place it at entrance of null sector in case ur mount disappear due to bug)

With those item you can explore cave and build rest of the deployable in the cave later.

best base location would be
(at K11 cave between ashland and icesheet)

Although there are so many limitation , you can stay in there forever if u are well-prepare.

-You can get ice from icesheet by using Rain reservoir which will fill up when snow weather comes, combine it with Electric Water Purifier , you can always shovel for ice in icesheet as well.
-Get oxygen by using Electrolytic Oxygen Synthesizer ,if you want to get oxide ore directly, there is always deep vein in the caves.
-Obtain wood by using ice borer on frozen log deep vein in icesheet and smelt them with furance.
-Obtain fibre by crafting ropes with leather and destroy them
You can even build a "greenhouse" and farm fibre or wheats urself.

Ref:
1. water. 15L of water is more than enough to survive for a mission with map.
Closest water source near null sector was lake in O3 grid, which highly toxic and require purifier.

Portable water tank(150L):
use heavy G slot
has glitch currently (march2025), you canNOT drink with it in inventory unless u deploy on the floor and it will always give RAIN water no matter what you fill with

Water tank(50L) :
use heavy G slot, probably the best container for hot drinks which work pretty well in icesheet.

2. Milliions of building deployable(mainly ramps)
You need those to counter the terrain in null sector.
Aluminium : light weight, cheap, and relatively resistant. (use for temp explore or in caves)
clay, scoria : stay pretty long time, downside is quite heavy.
concrete: you want those if you want ur bridge/ladder become perm. definitely use those on major route (across the lava lake at K11 cave between ashland and icesheet)

Null sector : Ashland
This mission divide into 3 parts
1. Craft 100 trail beacon, and beacon tool (not sure if this is skippable)
2. deploy beacon to find the outpost (quite sure this is skippable as you can finish it by directly rush to star at Top of L13)
3. locate the evidence

Recommend method to finish the quest:
craft a beacon tool, mount a bird, and ride it to L13 without deploying any beacon by using the map, grab a the damaged audio device and 100 beacon inside the building.

Red route: Require no ramp(except very beginning part) and it is shortest path ( fastest if you just want to finish the quest) E
Green route: Require at least 10+ ramps to counter terrain marked with brown line
(you might need that shortcut for other quest if you dont want to build base in ashland later on)

After quest finish you can loot whole base (including but not limit to trail beacon ,nice looking bed and lockers)

if you decided to build a base in null sector, best to accept "icesheet" quest and After ashland quest complete go to blue route to build it in the cave and you can mine via cave in K11 to J11.
I post that in the base shopping list in basic part.

Null sector : icesheet
Null sector: null sector
Null sector: Crisis
Null sector: Stranded
Null sector: rescue
Null sector: composition

Thanks for this guide brother, me and my cousin are on the struggle bus on the first null sector mission haha

@Rei No Biggie thanks for the reply, i had only figured out how that unlink beacon feature worked (like, unlinking one does not return the link to the previous one but rather let you choose which beacon to link as the last "breadcrumb") until the very last part of Ice Sheet when it was no longer needed since Null Sector mission does not use those and i was only trekking there for the 3 talent points. So long Ashlands!!! not gonna go back there like ever! Anyways thank you so much for the very detailed guide! :steamthumbsup:

@AlecRockstar too lazy to make another map atm. However , you can long press "R" to unlink beacon. After the unlink u can place a new beacon anywhere u want including icesheet entrance. The final destination should be somewhere near F12,
From icesheet entrance,follow the route and you have to ramp over the mountain at H12.

What about the rest of the guide? :moth_veronica: i just arrived to the Ice sheet but mofo beacons say "too far" and cant place one anywhere not even at the beggining of the ice sheet like quest log says, does it mean i have to trace back all the fucking way to the ashlands to my last placed beacon and make another chain from there to the ice sheet entrance? (open world mission solo player) :moth_cfc:
