Download this file below; it's an xbox controller emulator. You will only have to do this once.

This is a tool created by VJocys, last updated in 2015 but still works very well with games requiring 360 controllers - but has detection issues.

Firstly, you need to go to the game's properties from the steam library.

Make sure "Disable Steam Input" is selected for the Override for Insane 2.

Open the zip file I provided and extract 'x360ce.exe' into the game's directory. Make sure your controller is plugged in and work, then launch 'x360ce.exe' as administrator and you will see this screen. Hit "Create" so the tool can generate the necessary DLLs.

Next screen you will have two choices; automatic setup and manual. I recommend automatic so as long as your controller is a common one. Hit "Search Automatically for settings"

Next screen you should see two green ticks, confirming the controller being detected and automatically set-up. Hit "Finish".

Last screen you will see, you'll have a chance to spam all your controller buttons to make sure it's reacting accordingly. Especially test the triggers as they are known to malfunction across various controllers. Once you are satisfied with everything, make sure to hit "Save" and close the tool.

Once you're in-game, you should see Xbox button prompts as soon as you press any button on your controller. If so, everything is working well. Game on!
