Important Notes
  • This fix is only for people who have deep fry issue with HDR monitors
  • Alternatively, you could just turn off HDR from Windows, Nvidia or AMD if you don't want to apply this fix

I bought this game a few weeks ago during the Winter sale and it was bugging me that I had to disable HDR to play the game. I did further research online and found out this issue has been going on for nearly a year with no better fix than to just turn off HDR.

Considering my knowledge in Unreal Engine as a game designer, I thought I would do more research on the issue and try to find a fix. Here is that fix and hope it works for you.

Enabling HDR support and fixing the Deep Fry issue
  • Go to your game engine config file
    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\ReadyOrNot\Saved\Config\Windows\Engine.ini
  • Copy the following and paste it at the bottom of the Engine config file

    [SystemSettings] r.AllowHDR=1 r.HDR.EnableHDROutput=1 r.HDR.UI.Level=1

  • Save the file
  • Launch game

Example of what the config file should look like:

RTX 30 series, no Auto HDR and no RTX HDR because I'm still on Win 10. Also no nVidia filters enabled. I added the settings and do have an HDR experience now but some colors are just a tad bit off:
- NVG looks "greeny" and stuff I see kind of "inverted"
- in the department the lights on the walls are white but the shine and their reflections are blue and red
- white surfaces have a very slight pink taint to them

It's overall a huge improvement but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this. I guess HDR is more of a beta feature right now or else it would be configurable in the UI.

Thank you for finding these settings, apart from those small issues it looks so much better!

It did work great for me, until using NODS. Then it just created all sorts of psychedelic artifacts. Is there a fix for this or is that something you'll either have to live with or turn HDR off?
