How to create and upload your mod to Steam Workshop

A. Creating Your New Mod
  • To create a new mod:
    1. Launch the game.
    2. Click "Mods."

    3. Click "Create."
    4. Enter your desired mod name and click "OK."
B. Adding Files to Your Mod
  • To add files to your mod:
    1. Navigate to mods folder
      C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Soldiers Heroes of World War 2\mods
    2. Locate your mod's folder.
    3. Open the folder and add your desired files.
C. Uploading Your Mod to the Steam Workshop
  • Before uploading, ensure your mod files are located in the correct folder:
    1. Navigate to mod folder
      C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Soldiers Heroes of World War 2\mods
    2. Locate your mod's folder and open it.
  • Add mod preview image:
    Add a 512x512 JPG image to your mod folder. Set the file name to "preview.jpg". This image will serve as the workshop preview image for the mod.
  • Prepare the mod.info file:
    1. Open the mod.info file with a text editor like Notepad.
    2. Edit the following fields and save the file:
      Parameter name
      Parameter description
      Name
      Your mod's name
      Desc
      The detailed description of your mod's content, features, and functionality.
      Version
      Update the version number (e.g., "1.0.1") if you've made changes to your mod.
      Note: The "Id" field in mod.info is automatically assigned by the game for the Steam Workshop. Don't modify this field.
      mod.info content example:
      {Mod
      {Id "Mod ID Number - DO NOT CHANGE IT"}
      {Name "My Awesome Mod"}
      {Desc "This mod adds new units and abilities to the game."}
      {Version "1.0.0"}
      }
  • Upload your mod:
    1. Launch the game.
    2. Click on "Mods."

    3. Find your mod in the list.
    4. Activate your mod by clicking the checkbox next to it.
    5. Click the "Apply" button.
    6. With your mod selected, click the "Publish" button, then click "Ok.
    7. Wait for the upload process to complete.
    8. Click "Workshop" to open your mod's Steam page.
    9. Scroll down and click "Change Visibility," then select "Public."
      Congratulations! Your mod is now visible to the community.
D. Updating Your Mod
  • To update your mod:
    1. Launch the game.
    2. Click on "Mods."

    3. Find your mod in the list.
    4. Activate your mod by clicking the checkbox next to it.
    5. Click the "Apply" button.
    6. With your mod selected, click the "Update" button, then click "Ok.
    7. Wait for the upload process to complete.
    8. Click "Workshop" to open your mod's Steam page.
    9. Scroll down and click "Change Visibility," then select "Public."
      Congratulations! Your mod is now visible to the community.

Ahh there it go. I didn't know had to rename the file as 'preview', that step I was missing. Thanks for updating. I have updated the modification and the thumbnail seems to be working now. Going to need to wait till Steam analyze the preparation setup.

Is not working as should. I had to delete the modification locally and at the workshop as well because info.mod got corrupted for trying to make thumbnail be visible.
There must be a ''best way'' to fix this complicated method to upload onto Steam workshop with all images visible otherwise I had enough for today.
