How to install the Umineko Project
By 🌸 幻 | Valinypse
Umineko Project aims to port most of the content from the PS3 edition published by Alchemist to PC, to make the experience way more engaging. It is not a mod, it's just a port and here's how to get it.

#1 ・ Please, read this!
Unlike the 07th-Mod, Umineko Project is not a patch, it's an entirely standalone port of the PS3's edition of the game.

If you're interested on patching this Steam version of the game into the 07th-Mod, try this other guide:

https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3442843599

And, please; even if you're not patching the Steam version, support both Ryukishi07's work and MangaGamer's illustrations and translations by buying the game!
#2 ・ Nyaa mirror.
In every link I'll use middle dots (・) instead of regular dots, because Steam gets angry if I post links to external websites. Just replace them with regular dots and it should be fine.

If you're on Windows 10/11, you can simply download the already compiled game from an unofficial Nyaa torrent. Here's a link to a compiled version of Umineko Project from 31st December, 2020 (v8.2b), published by user Ruben2505.

Then you'll need an Archive Extractor like WinRar or 7zip to extract Umineko.rar, which will contain the following files:

The game will be playable by clicking on "onscripter-ru.exe". It'll verify files for a few minutes and then it'll ask you if you want fullscreen or windowed, which resolution you want and which language. And that's it, you'll be in the main menu already.

Installing Scripts into this already compiled version is as simple as replacing them into the game's root folder.

#3 ・ Manual instalation.
If you're not on Windows 10/11, it didn't work or you want to tweak its files a little, here's the manual way of installing Umineko Project.

Here's the official website of Umineko Project, remember to replace middle dots (・) with regular dots:

  • umineko-project・org

To get into the download process, simply click on the "Downloads" section in the top side of the page. There, you'll see the minimal system requirements and a list of everything you need.

  • Game resources.
  • Resource updates.
  • Scripts.
  • Game engine.

This first step is the most tedious one. The Resources, which are divided into 12 parts that you'll need to download separately.

Now download the Resource updates.

Now download the Scripts.

Now download the Game Engine (Depending on which operative system you're running):

And if you want, you can get various different Language Packs.

Keep in mind that the Umineko Project is still in development, so Scripts are still being updated to this day (March 2025) and the steps are subject to change, as they did before. These downloads required a password a few years ago, I remember that you could get it by following a few simple steps on their website, so if anything change, just search on the "Downloads" section.

Now extract all these files into the same folder, on Windows it should look like this.

To play it you just need to run your respective Game Engine, in my case is is "onscripter-ru.exe".

And voilà, there it is. The unofficial PC port of PS3's Umineko When They Cry!
