Guide Contents
This is just a simple guide I put together to display, break down, and simplify all the negative information of the new update. I did some basic calculations and found some reviews best explaining whats wrong with the update.

Purchasing Ammunition
Average Cost of supplying ships

For these calculations I did cargo missions for one hour and earned 28,524 reals. Round up to 29,000 for easier calculations.

Column #1 is the ship used in the calculation
Column #2 is the amount of cannons the ship can carry
Column #3 is the Cost of 100 volleys for the ship
Column #4 is how many hours of cargo missions it will take to afford to stock your ship with enough ammo to fire 100 volleys

Ship
Amount of Cannons
Volley Cost
Hours of Cargo Missions
Cerberus
40, 8pd
196,000
7 hours
Trincomalee
50, 18pd
495,000
17 hours
Implacable
90, 28pd
1,341,000
46 hours
Santa Ana
110, 32pd
1,850,000
64 hours
Santisma Trinidad
138, 32pd
2,322,200
80 hours
Crafting
Crafting was added in the new update, one of the major perks of crafting is the ability to craft powder and shot which is cheaper than purchasing it from a port.
However, in order to unlock the powder crafting recipe you have to spend hours leveling up your crafting level to gain access to the powder recipe. Once you unlock the recipe you have to go and collect the necessary resources to craft your powder and shot, which again takes alot of time most people dont have. In the end crafting is just another mundane time filler mechanic with no real purpose except to waste the players time with more mindless grinding.

*Notes*
Notes on Ammo Calculations:
I know that these calculations are slightly inaccurate but they are a close estimate to the exact costs.
I also know that I could craft ammo or join a large clan, however these calculations are intended for solo players.

thanks for this, you know a game has issues when advice and guides reference needing a large clan/group

Yah... you may craft your own ammo...
There are only 2 things that you can do in this new "game":
-> 1 buy ammo;
-> 2 craft ammo.
That's all...

@Reiver67 yes crafting is cheaper, however just to start crafting you have to rank up your crafting level. That alone takes hours to achieve, and once you do, you have to go and find all the ingredients and craft your ammo, so it may be cheaper yes but it still takes an equal amount of mundane sailing through the Caribbean.

If you craft your own gunpowder it costs 1.44 reals per unit and similarly a cannonball costs 2.20 per ball.

A 9lb cannon requires 6 gunpowder + 1 ball per shot at cost of 10.84, times by 4000 (your hundred volleys) your cost is 43,360. You will use nothing like that to kill a 5th rate but you will loot about a 1000 dubs, which can be sold for 32k.

Similarly with your Trinc figure 5000 shots would cost 68,600.

If you use 1000 rounds to kill a 5th rate (and thats generous) you will be well ahead money wise.
