Getting started:
When you create a save file, you will be asked what difficulty you would like to play: Beginner, Normal, and Expert. The differences are simply what starting items you have and whether auto guard and cheaper continues are enabled or not by default.

I recommend picking Beginner or Expert because it gives you 2 items that you normally have to find in a specific stage or purchase, cutting down on item-hunting. You can also enable and disable the assist settings regardless of difficulty and it won't affect your score/achievements at all.

I HIGHLY recommend getting the following items as early as you can for subsequent playthroughs with the other characters:

  • Attack Up Potion

  • Healing Strike Potion

  • Expensive Stock Brave Stone

  • No Revivals Brave Stone

These items will make getting S ranks a lot easier.
General Achievements (Part 1)

Kilo-Gem
Get rewarded with at least 1000 crystals after clearing a stage.

Equip 2 Brave Stones that give at least 25% bonus, do not equip any potions. Head to Zao Land and take your time combing the map for crystals, crystal shards, red petals, and those high striker amusement game thingies with the gong at the top of it. With 2 brave stone bonuses, I think you need at least over 470, but play it safe and try to get at least 500. Assume you will take damage at least once and ignore the 'No Hit' bonus.

Challenger
Clear a stage with a Brave Stone equipped.

Simply equip any brave stone and beat a level with it. Expensive Stocks is one of the best brave stones because it only makes getting extra lives more difficult, if you aren't relying on more than 2 lives this is basically a free 25% bonus.

Speed Hunter
With the Time Limit stone equipped, clear a stage with 300 or more crystals collected.

Equip at least the Time Limit brave stone. Head to Zao Land and briefly comb the stage for a bit and you should get the 300 crystal requirement before 2 minutes have even passed. You have to collect 300 crystals from the stage and can't rely on any of the bonuses to boost you at the results screen. The stage has a par time of 6:30 which is very easy to clear even on your first blind run.

Gate Master
Obtain 75 crystals or more from a Speed Gate

A little difficult because you need to keep your speed going for a good amount during the speed gate, but also just trying to find one is kind of difficult when you are actively hunting for them. Phoenix Highway and Tidal Gate are good maps to try this on as I often blaze through Speed Gates there by complete accident. Equipping the Accelerator or Super Feather potion may help a bit too. Here's a video of me sloppily trying to find one for this guide and getting mostly auto piloted through it:

Tasty Rainbow
Clear a stage with a mixture of 5 or more Potions.

Before starting a stage, equip 5 different potions. The potion icon will have 5 segments with different colors similar to this:

Wu Xing
Collect 5 Charms.

Go to the Town Hub called Paradise Prime. There is an NPC named Florin who sells all 6 charms. The elemental charms all cost 3 gold gems, while the rainbow charm costs 5.

Geologist
Collect 9 Brave Stones.

There are a total of 10 Brave Stones. 7 of them are found in stages while the remaining 3 must be bought from Blake and Balthazar's shop in the Battlesphere Town Hub. If you started your save file on Expert difficulty, you are automatically given the Double Damage and No Revivals Brave stones, meaning you only need to get 7 of them from the start.

Use these guides if you need help finding the brave stones in the stages:

Chain Reaction
Clear a stage with Crystals To Petals and Petals To Crystals equipped.

Equip the Crystals to Petals booster item and the No Petals brave stone, then complete a stage. The description is inaccurate as there is no item called Petals to Crystal.

Late Game Guts
Clear a Bakunawa stage with at least two Brave Stones equipped and no potions.

Equip two brave stones you feel most comfortable using and do not equip any potions. The easiest pair is Expensive Stocks with either No Revivals or Items to Bombs. You must play one of the four Bakunawa stages seen at the end of the game, those being:
  • Bakunawa Rush
  • Clockwork Arboretum
  • Inversion Dynamo
  • Lunar Cannon
I'm not sure if the stageWeapon Core counts but I would not recommend that for this challenge.

Treasure Hunter
Collect 30 items.

There are 31 items in the game. To break it down, there are:
  • 7 boosters
  • 8 potions
  • 6 charms
  • 9 brave stones

Again, use this guide for help with all the items:
https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2866630577

Gem Exchange
Obtain a Gold Gem by exchanging Crystals.

You need at least 1000 crystals. Then go to any town that has a Gold Gem Exchange shop like the Royal Palace. I recommend using the quick shop instead of going in the towns as the NPCs who runs these shops don't stand out at all.

Core Exchange
Obtain a Gold Gem by exchanging Cores.

Same thing as the previous achievement except you need 20 cores instead.

Art Restoration
Restore an exhibit in the Gallery.

Patron of the Arts
Restore all museum exhibits.

As you progress through the story, you'll eventually reach a point where the gallery opens near the Royal Palace on the hub. Here you'll spend crystals, cores, and gold gems to restore exhibits of all the bosses in the game.

I would focus on buying all the items first before doing this since you don't get anything but boss sprites to look at and it is really expensive. For crystal farming, Zao Land is a good option. For core farming, the Army of One Battlesphere challenge nets you 24 every time.

Guardless Run
Clear a stage without using the Guard button.

I wouldn't be surprised if many players got this by complete accident forgetting they could guard based on the high percentage of players who've obtained this. Just beat the stage without hitting the guard button, the longer you wait to do this the harder it will become because your muscle memory will make you WANT to guard. Use items like elemental charm, strong shield potions, max life up/petal armor booster if you really need to, but you'll be fine.

Perfect Run
Clear a stage without losing any life petals.

Equip any of the elemental charms + 5 Strong Shield potions which will give you 7 extra hits from the start before you can lose any life petals.

Even without the items, this is not very difficult if you take your time, guard, and use any i-frame moves your character may have. You can also do this on a boss stage.

Photographer
Take a photo through the Photograph menu.

Pick any stage, pause the game and scroll up and select Photograph. Then select Take Photo and admire your somewhat smudged photo in the album.

Group Photo
Take a photo with Lilac, Carol, Milla, and Neera in the frame.

Go to the Battlesphere and select either the Battlebot Battle Royale or Hero Battle Royale challenge, then immediately pause the game and take a photo.
General Achievements (Part 2)

Meet Your Colleagues
Talk to every citizen in the Royal Palace.

People Person
Talk to 40 citizens.

Celebrity Person
Talk to 80 citizens.

There are 101 citizens so you have leeway for this challenge. You can open the pause menu while you are in the over-world map, select the notebook and then citizens to see every citizen you have talked to. If you simply talk to every character you see when you go in the hub worlds for the first time, you'll likely unlock this.

But if you want, the Freedom Planet Wiki[freedomplanet.fandom.com] has a list of every citizen in the game that shows their sprite and where they are located.

Album Aficionado
Collect 88 vinyl tracks.

There are 90 vinyl tracks in the game. Almost every stage has a stage theme vinyl you'll have to find in a treasure chest scattered somewhere. You'll know if you have the vinyl in a stage if the vinyl icon is visible when you walk over a stage on the over-world map. The rest can be purchased from NPCs across the hub worlds for 300 crystals each, these vinyls are over-world and cut scene related.

This video is very helpful for collecting both the vinyls and brave stones:

Memories of the Past
Collect 13 time capsules.

Time Capsules #1 and #15 are given automatically. 12 time capsules are obtained by completing specific Battlesphere challenges. The last time capsule can be found in the hub called Adventure Square. There will be a building in between 2 statues, one of them is a water dragon and the other is nearly destroyed, just being a pair of feet. Go inside this building and go up the elevator where the last time capsule is located.

Battlesphere Baseball Batter
Clear a Home Run map with 10000 points or more.

Best Baseball Batter
Clear all Home Run maps with 10000 points or more.

The Battlesphere has 3 home run challenges. You must obtain 10000 points or more for each challenge. This one is a bit difficult due to the scores being a bit tight and the inconsistency of it. I recommend this post for help.[www.trueachievements.com]

Battlesphere Boss Breaker
Clear all Battlesphere boss rematches.

You'll have to beat the game and get the true ending so every boss is available. This isn't difficult, especially if you use Healing Strike or Attack Up potions beforehand.

Battlesphere Champion
Clear all Battlesphere challenges.

Battlesphere Legend
Achieve a rank of S in every Battlesphere challenge.

Equip the No Revivals and Expensive Stocks brave stones, then just play through the challenges like normal. You can equip 5 of either Healing Strike or Attack Up potion if you want to have that little bit of extra survivability or damage.

If you end up failing, you simply have to restart the challenge which is not a big deal. And if i'm not mistaken, the 2 final boss rush challenges are not required for either achievement.

Good Sport
Clear Kalaw's Challenge in the Battlesphere without pressing the Attack, Special, or Guard buttons.

Equipping 5 Accelerator potions makes this challenge a lot easier. Only take the upper path and and make sure to jump during the one incline, you can (and should) use each characters double jump ability. I think Carol and Milla can do the challenge really easily, while Neera and Lilac have it harder. Here's videos of me doing it with all 4 characters with 0 potions:

Globe Completionist
Activate all 9 power plugs in Globe Opera 2.

Pretty straight forward. After activating the first 3 plugs in the stage, you'll be stopped by a big door that requires going into rooms with mechanics from previous stages and activating more plugs in them. You normally need to go to at least 4 rooms to progress. But for this achievement, activate all plugs in all 6 rooms.

Impressive
Defeat Merga in Palace Courtyard.

This is actually kind of difficult. I highly recommend equipping either Healing Strike or Attack Up potions to either increase your survivability or decrease the amount of hits you have to land. Depending on which character you play, this can be fairly managable or pretty rough. Lilac can cheese with her dragon boost and guard parry. Carol can kind of cheese with her jump disk but it has more start up, otherwise she has to get in which is rough. Milla can deflect Merga's projectiles, but can also abuse her flight to hit her safely for the most part. Neera...well based on the clip I have with her, you can tell I'm pretty bad with her. Here's videos of me beating her with potions equipped with each character.

Morning Workout
Complete all training challenges in Gong's dojo.

Just beat all 3 challenges, dodge ball is the only kinda tricky one, but even then you just need to beat it, rank and time do not matter.

Sparring Buddy
Defeat all sparring opponents in Gong's dojo.

Your Own Worst Enemy
Defeat your own character in combat.

There are 6 opponents, the blue Pangu Hologram is your clone. They are all very easy, Lilac might be the only one that can be kind of difficult.

True Love
Clear the game with all 13 time capsules collected.

If you got the Memories of the Past achievement, you will get this after you beat the game.

Classic Mode Unlocked!
Clearing Adventure mode with any character allows you to play Classic mode.

Congrats :)
Character-specific Achievements
There are 6 achievements specific to each character: 3 involve speedrunning, 2 involve combat, and 1 for beating the game with them. (Assuming you dedicated 1 save file to doing the general achievements, you'll only need to worry about these for the remaining 3 save files).

Dragon Power
Clear the game as Lilac.

Dragon Boost Finish
Defeat a boss with Lilac's Dragon Boost.

Lower the boss's health until you know its going to die in 2-4 hits, then just dash through them. Any boss with a large hitbox is a good pick for this.

Dragon Powerhouse
Inflict 40 base damage with a single (use of Lilac's) Dragon Boost.

You'll likely get this by accident just trying to hit the boss with the dragon boost. A good way to get it is if the boss is moving away from you, dragon boost towards them so you move alongside them. I did it on my first attempt against the Syntax Spider.

Call of the Wildcat
Clear the game as Carol.

Jump Disc Finish
Defeat a boss with Carol's Jump Disc.

Lower the boss's health until you know its going to die in 2-4 hits, then just toss it through them. Any boss with a large hitbox is a good pick for this.

Flying Cat
As Carol, inflict 40 base damage without touching the ground or walls.

Actually a bit tricky, but you will likely get it by complete accident. The game doesn't teach you that the faster Carol moves, the faster her claw strikes are. Basically you want to run at a boss or somehow an enemy really fast then jump and attack them with your melee swipes and throw your jump disc/bike at the last moment to keep yourself attached to your target.

How do you run really fast? Simple, jump forward and hit down + attack, Carol will do a like a horizontal divekick which increases her speed like crazy if you keep doing it.

Spirit of the Hound
Clear the game as Milla.

Super Shield Burst Finish
Defeat a boss with Milla's Super Shield Burst.

It is by far Milla's strongest attack and my preferred way to do basically everything with her.

Pacifist Pooch
Defeat a boss as Milla using only shield reflections.

Easy to miss, but not hard to do. Load up the map Snowfields and fight Serpentine. He has multiple projectile attacks that you can easily deflect back at him.

Slightly Defrosted
Clear the game as Neera.

Frost Art Finish
Defeat a boss with one of Neera's Frost Arts.

When Neera has full meter (below the health bar), you can press the special button to unleash one of her Frost Arts. The easiest one to use is her up + special button which sends out a whirlwind of ice upward and hits multiple times.

Focused Warrior
As Neera, inflict 50 base damage during a single activation of Focus.

Activate focus and then just hit the boss rapidly with attacks before the meter drains fully. You have a lot of time to do this, and successfully using the guard button against enemy attacks give you focus back.
Speedrunning Achievements (Part 1)
Back Before Breakfast
Complete the game with a total best stage time of less than 4 hours. (Excludes Battlesphere challenges)

Speedrunning Freedom Planet 2? Sounds stressful, don't worry its really not.

  • Every character has great mobility, you can still beat all the stages with every character 1 or 2 whole minutes below the par time without too much effort.
  • This is not a pure speedrun from start to finish. You don't have to beat the game in one sitting in under 4 hours. Your total stage time for all levels added up needs to be under 4 hours. If its over 4 hours, you can simply replay stages to get better times. No need to make a new save file.
  • 4 hours is extremely generous. Across all 4 characters with me not being super optimal and not knowing the layouts very well, I beat the game in under 3 hours with every character.

  • You can bring items like boosters and potions, I recommend using 5 Attack Up potions so you can melt the bosses really fast.
  • Skip all fights when possible. There is no reason to fight enemies when you are trying to speedrun. Only fight when said enemy is blocking your forward progression like the spiders.
  • The only stages that might give you problems are Ancestral Forge and Nalao Lake. Ancestral Forge is one gigantic and poorly laid out puzzle stage that overstays its welcome and will simply require you to just memorize where you need to go. And Nalao Lake's par time is actually quite tight considering the amount of stuff you have to do in it.
  • ABUSE your characters mobility options. This will allow you to skip and zoom past sections incredibly fast. See below for more info.

Each character has 3 achievements related to speedrunning, those being: Runner, Speedrunner, and Master.

Dragon Runner
Beat any stage's par time as Lilac.

Dragon Master
Beat the par times in all stages as Lilac.

  • Lilac overall has the most versatile mobility with her dragon boost, cyclone double jump, uppercut, and even the guard parry.
  • If you need to move fast, use dragon boost often and also dive kick into cyclone double jump into dive kick. Try practicing this in the outdoor area in the Royal Palace.
  • When it comes to combat, I personally think Lilac actually has it the hardest because she does not do a lot of damage instantly, she hits quite rapidly but all those attacks need to land to match the damage the other characters can do in fewer hits and less time.
  • Try using her dragon boost directly on top of bosses, the initial windup spin she does hits enemies for quite a bit.
  • Using her uppercut into divekick allows her to stay in the air and kick much longer due to the uppercut slowing her descent a bit. Combine this with a cyclone double jump, and you can really maximize her hits.
  • Her guard is unique because if you hold it down, she dashes forward to do damage. At times its really awkward but it can be used in a pinch to readjust yourself to land on a platform just a few inches away. Its also good at cheesing bosses.

Wildcat Runner
Beat any stage's par time as Carol.

Wildcat Master
Beat the par times in all stages as Carol.

  • Carol has good mobility and great offense. While her jump disc doesn't have the greatest coverage, its still good for reaching just out of reach areas when combined with her incredible jump height, wall jumping, and pounce.
  • If you need to move fast, jump forward and use her dive kick which will propel her forward, keep doing it in quick succession and she will zoom forward extremely fast. Try practicing this in the outdoor area in the Royal Palace.
  • When it comes to combat, Carol can easily shred through boss health bars when she's swiping them at a stand still. However when she swipes while moving really fast, her attack speed significantly increases making her already strong offense even stronger.
  • Use the jump disc for invulnerability and also for offense. Just toss it a boss and watch it shred their health bars.
  • I personally don't like the bike for combat, but for mobility its amazing. Use the guard button to get a nice burst of speed while on the bike.
Speedrunning Achievements (Part 2)

Hound Runner
Beat any stage's par time as Milla.

Hound Master
Beat the par times in all stages as Milla.

  • Milla's ability to fly for a brief period and her ability to propel herself in the opposite direction using her Super Shield Burst opens up her mobility a ton.
  • If you need to move fast, use her Super Shield Burst backwards while jumping. As soon as you blast it, you'll propel forward. Keep doing this in rapid succession to go absurdly fast. This technique is actually quite difficult to do consistently due to having to quickly look in the opposite direction you are moving. To be more consistent, as soon as you blast backwards, DO NOT press forward, just let go of your movement button for half a second, THEN hold forward.
  • Sometimes you should tap spam Milla's flight when you need that little extra distance horizontally.
  • When it comes to combat, I personally really enjoy using strictly the Super Shield Burst combined with her flight because it has decent range, a big hitbox, and does so much damage in a single hit. I'm not the biggest fan of deflecting projectiles nor shooting the little rapid fire shots.

Frost Knight Runner
Beat any stage's par time as Neera.

Frost Knight Master
Beat the par times in all stages as Neera.

  • Neera is a strange character for me. She has a double jump which is nice, but her ice attacks are a mixed bag.
  • If you need to move fast, spam her forward stab attack on the ground and in the air. She accelerates like crazy when you do this, and if the stage is open enough, you can skip huge chunks by just flying horizontally.
  • When it comes to combat, I don't really like her here because her attacks feel rather clunky. I primarily just used her downward cryo staff spike for the damage and her upward tundra ray metered and meter-less. Ice Lasso is okay, its a simple albeit slow projectile that does good damage.
  • Her upward tundra ray when used with focus will actually propel her upward if you jump and do the move before you hit the tip of her jump arc, combine this with her double jump and you can move vertically a good amount.
  • The sniper drive is way too slow and forces Neera to stand still, focus makes it shoot faster which does help a bit. I know you can jump to move and shoot but it doesn't help much. The spike trap projectiles are way to awkward to use due to the trajectory. It does offer good mobility if set up right.
  • One really annoying thing about Neera is how she activates her focus when you guard, there will be times when you want to guard to avoid damage but don't need to use your focus attack just yet. This may lead you to wait sometimes for her meter to refill all because you tried avoiding damage. Successfully guarding an attack will give back some focus gauge to sort of offset this.

Dragon, Wildcat, Hound, Frost Knight Speedrunner

Beat any stage as Lilac/Carol/Milla/Neera in less than half of the par time.

If you are having trouble speedrunning a level in under half the par time, you can play Diamond Point and easily get it. The par time is 3:00 and the stage is just a boss fight against Askal. You can easily beat him in under 1:30 with every character once you learn his attack pattern. Equip 5 Attack Potions to guarantee it.
S rank Achievement

Perfection
Achieve a rank of S in every stage.

There's a lot of confusion about how S ranks work, and the game doesn't really tell you how it works so here's the easiest method I've used to get S ranks.

You must get at least 125% bonus. In order to do this, the easiest way is by meeting the following requirements:

  • Do not lose a single life. (I know there are circumstances where it is okay to, but simply not losing a life is the simpler and easier way to do it)
  • Equip 2 Brave Stones that are worth 25% each. The two best brave stones as mentioned earlier in the guide are No Revivals and Expensive Stocks . These affect specifically revives and extra lives which are completely useless because we are not allowed to lose a single life anyways. This basically means the game remains unchanged unless you really depend on extra lives and checkpoints to beat a stage. As you play the game more, this should be less of a problem.

That's basically it! Time and damage taken have no impact on you getting an S rank. So long as you meet the two conditions above, you will get 130% bonus every single time. So don't blindly run into every enemy/trap imaginable, and pick up shields and red petals when you can.

A nice thing about this method is that you are allowed to bring potions. They will only deduct 5% off which means you'll have exactly 125% bonus. If taking damage is a big problem for you, I suggest 5 Healing Strike potions. If not, 5 Attack Up potions if you want to nuke the enemies and bosses which helps with par times.

There are Rainbow S Ranks but they are completely optional and don't unlock anything, just bragging rights. In order to achieve one, you have to get 200% bonus. The only way to do this is by taking the One Hit KO brave stone and any 25% brave stone. Since you always have 0 health, you are relying on either truly never getting hit or finding shields in the map to give you some protection. By beating the level, you'll get a 25% bonus for not taking any petal damage.
End
4 save files later, and Freedom Planet 2 should be 100% completed.
