Generals Evolution is a mod for Red Alert 3.
Where modders have recreated Generals zero hour within Red Alert 3, but kept the rule set of red alert.

Go to https://www.moddb.com/mods/command-and-conquer-generals-evolution/downloads and download the latest version, as of writing Generals Evolution Beta 0.32 is the latest version.
Click on the download button that is marked in the picture, make sure you click that one as Moddb is know for having a bunch of ads all over the page, best way to view the website is with an ad block.

A pop-up will appear and after a couple seconds the download will start.
When done extract the contents to your desktop.
For extracting you can use winrar or 7zip, but most PC/Laptops come with one build in.

Open the folder GenEvo_Beta032, you will find 3 sub folders:
Extras
GenEvo
Tacticus
Only GenEvo and Tacticus are important for us.

Go to the folder Tacticus and copy d3d9.dll.
Now locate where your Red Alert 3 is installed, you can do this by going to your steam library and going to Red Alert 3, then click on the cog on the right, go to files and then browse local files.
Go to data and paste d3d9.dll.

Now go to ''C:\Users\(your username)\Documents\Red Alert 3\Mods'' if there is no mods folder then create one and copy and paste the GenEvo into this folder.

Now start up GenEvoLauncher in the GenEvo folder and click play, for first time modders a message will pop-up and tell you that the game requires 4GB patch, just click yes and it will install the patch for you, now relaunch the mod and it will fully work.

The mod is now installed, you start it by using the GenEvoLauncher.

But we can make it easier to launch the mod within Steam:
Click at the bottom left ''+ Add a Game''
Add a non-steam game
Browse
Find the GenEvoLauncher application and accept it
Add selected program

Now you can launch it from Steam
