Owl Has Issues
Dyscalculia (/ˌdɪskælˈkjuːliə/)[1][2][3][4] is a learning disability resulting in difficulty learning or comprehending arithmetic, such as difficulty in understanding numbers, numeracy, learning how to manipulate numbers, performing mathematical calculations, and learning facts in mathematics.
- My Brain

That is a definition of Dyscalculia that my brain came up with just now (citations and all!). You may be asking yourself, what does being mathematically impaired have to do with an acid-attacking, Rice Krispies-loving, Pokemon trainer named Owl? Excellent question (if you weren't thinking that, maybe you should read up on your Owl lore). Well, it is with great pride that I can announce a new Owl lore discovery...

This is The Number Line™. I know people are scared by mathematics (and rightfully so, 7 is a cannibal), but if you stay with me I promise this won't get too complicated. As you can see in The Number Line™ there are numbers. These numbers are used to count things, like the number of times Sekiro dies (in my game it was 0).

What does counting have to do with anything? It happens there's a hidden feature you probably don't know about, which is that Owl actually counts how many times you die when you fight him. The majority of people reading this will be stunned right now, because you didn't even think it was possible to die to Owl, but you can do it if you're bad enough.

This is quite a cool addition, but there is something curious about this feature. Owl doesn't count past three. Owl appears to get bored or is incapable of counting after his adopted child dies 3 times. See for yourself...

A question is raised by Owl's insistence on stopping at 3. Is this intentional? I believe I have an answer to this question. No. In fact, I'm certain Owl has dyscalculia and what we are witnessing is the outer limit of Owl's intelligence.

Of course we all already know Owl missed a formal education on account of growing up in Ninjapan (like Japan, but with less virgins and too many ninjas). This means he struggles so greatly with numbers the only way he can learn them is by counting the number of times he is victorious in battle. Stopping at 3 implies, before killing his adopted son, Owl must have only won 2 battles.

So, we know Owl has won 2 battles, but we also know Owl was a Pokemon trainer with 2 owl Pokemon (read up on your Owl lore if you didn't know this!). It follows that the 2 battles he won were to capture his only 2 owl Pokemon. It's quite an enlightening revelation... Here we all were thinking Owl is too easy to fight, but little did we realise it was part of his deepest lore all along. Fascinating.

This finding means it is now 100% lore-accurate to say that Owl has only ever won fights against owls. Literally every other fight Owl has lost.
Parting Words
This bit of lore was quite elusive. I wouldn't have stumbled upon it if I hadn't accidentally used the bite down tooth during a fight with Owl (I play with bite down on my quick access in order to execute the secret bite down dodge technique). A clumsy mistake, but once Owl said "One" after I had died, it started the gears in my head turning. I knew I recognised "One" from somewhere, and after consulting The Number Line™ I found out it is a number, and shortly after that the lore fell into place.

Now normally I'd make an ironic statement here about not wanting steam points, but I've decided steam points are beneath me. In fact, if you want to thank me for this brilliant guide, I suggest sending me a steam trade with items worth NO LESS THAN £30. Writing guides this detailed requires time and care, something for which steam points sorely undercompensate me for. I figure since you can buy a detailed, well-written, 10,000 word novel for £10, then £30 would be a fair amount to request for my (very hard!) work here.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you have an Owl-rific day (that's a bad thing).

i think he does it because he doesn't want wolf to feel bad for dyeing too many times
