Base gameplay
You play as a dude who can push snowballs.

To complete each of the 30 levels you need to turn snowballs into snowmen.

Move with WASD/arrows. Undo one step with backspace. Restart the current level with R.

Snowballs have 3 different sizes. When you push a snowball onto a tile with snow, it uses up the snow to grow to the next size. The biggest size snowball can't grow, so it just clears the snow.

You can push snowballs onto other snowballs of bigger size. If you stack 3 snowballs, you've built a snowman, which is your goal.

Benches and other scenery are functionally just the same as walls.

If you push a stack, only its topmost snowball will fall onto the next tile. This is only allowed if that tile is free.

Find one of the two telescopes to zoom out.
Hugging a snowman just zooms in.
Achievements
  • Best friends forever
Hugged a snowman for a long time
Walk up to a snowman and hold the arrow key in its direction for about 30 seconds until the achievement unlocks.

    Completed the game
Complete all 30 levels (see Normal levels)

  • Dreamt a beautiful dream
    Completed the dream world
Complete the dream world (see Endgame)
There are no missable achievements.

For hardcore achievement hunters:

If you want to get all the achievements and insist that you want to do as little extra work as possible, read the next sections right away.

Playing the dream world means replaying the same levels in a mirrored layout, and you must rebuild the snowmen in particular locations. Because all the changes in normal world are reflected on the dream world and vice-versa, it is possible to predict the locations of snowmen to not have to restart any levels, by looking at the layout of the normal world of someone who has completed the dream world. Such a screenshot is at the bottom of this guide.

Keep in mind that very many of the solutions for dream world require "cheating" (see next section), so you definitely won't be able to get both the butterflies and dream world without restarting any levels. Besides, these weird solutions will often block exits, making things a lot more difficult. I recommend just playing normally (getting butterflies) at first. Or you can do this only on levels that don't seem a big nuisance and then finish the rest later.

Butterflies
It is possible to complete every level without leaving its area. If you exit a level in one place and enter it from another, it's considered "cheating", because you can push snowballs in ways that would otherwise be impossible. Butterflies will appear only on levels that you completed without cheating. But don't worry, you can restart the levels to properly complete them, just press R.

There is one butterfly per level. They can't leave their designated area.

You don't need to do anything with the butterflies.
Endgame
After you've completed all the levels, you can exit at the top and see an overview of the world, followed by a message telling you to sleep. Press Esc to interrupt this.

Now, when sitting on a bench, you can press the direction key again to go to sleep. You will find yourself in a kind of a quick-travel world. Walls don't stop you. Going very far to one side just wraps you around. Sit on any bench and you will reappear in the corresponding location in the "real" world. Or press Esc to return to the original bench.

You can also exit at the bottomleft, where you started the game, to go to the mirrored world. Locations of snowmen here are the same as in the normal world, but the rooms are shuffled around.

If you sleep on a bench there, you will be in a dream much like the previously described quick travel world.

You are presented with a puzzle where you need to build a snowman out of snowballs that actually lose snow if you roll them on the ground that isn't snowy. The locations of the snowballs in this dream puzzle are the same as locations of snowmen in the mirrored world. You need to restart levels and rebuild snowmen in locations that will allow you to build a snowman in the dream.

That's just the first trio. Next you will be presented with the whole map, without a clear way to distinguish which snowman should belong to which trio.

So yeah, have fun! Or refer to the guide: http://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=401029769
Here is a layout of a completed mirror world and the corresponding layout of the normal world. It is exactly the same as in the guide above.

The Pett guide uses a cheat on Helen, so that solution will not work if you are trying to get all the butterflies.
Really helpful and clear, thank you for tips:steamhappy:

Nice guide, but you've missed the two secret achievements:

Gotta hug 'em all
Hugged all the snowmen
Self-explanatory. You do NOT have to hug them all again in Dream World. If it didn't unlock, you missed one.

Best friends forever
Hugged a snowman for a long time
Give a snowman a looong, continuous hug (about 1 minute, I think, a bit after the camera stops zooming in)

Wow, this game is harder than it looks. More than 5% of the players have completed the mirrored world, that's insane!
