Basic Gameplay

The knight must defeat wave after wave of hamsters until himself defeated or capturing the required number of falling stars. Each wave gets progressively harder and consists of a day and night period.

Daytime
During the day time, the hamsters will go after the King's carrots. Once near a carrot they will begin to dig it up. Once the carrot is dug up it will pop out of the ground. A hamster can then carry the carrot off the map and capture it. If all the carrots are captured, it is game over. If a carrot that is out of the ground is protected long enough, it will go back into the ground.

Nighttime
During the night, the hamsters transform into evil versions of themselves. Stronger and faster than their day time version. They are no longer interested in the carrots, and will chase you around the map. If you die, the game is over.

The Heroes
To help defeat the hamsters, a platform dispenses upgrades that can be purchased by pressing the right bumper button on the controller. You must have enough gold to buy the item. How much gold you have is shown in your health bar. Each knight has two different attacks and one special. The special cost mana (blue bar). Some specials use the full bar, others only use part of it.
Kid's Mode
Kids mode is accessed through the options screen at the title. It is a no-gore, kid-friendly version of the game where kids just play with the hamsters and win.

The game has its own progress but is limited to the unlocked characters for the normal gamemode.

This mode was tested for ages 2-8.
Story
Deep in Sneaky Forest, the King's Templars and an apprentice chase a hungry band of hamsters that are racing off with the King's prized carrots. These magical carrots are known throughout the land and keep the people of the Carrot Kingdom fed and happy. After the Great War, the King's knights have been reduced to guarding these carrots from the pesky hamster horde.

As the Knights raced after the hamsters, the apprentice dreamt of a real adventure and glorious battle. A falling star flashed across the sky and the apprentice made a fateful wish...

"I wish I could battle a great evil..."

The star, was no ordinary star. It was the great wishing star. Like they say be careful what you wish for.

Purchasable Items
Upgrades

These items spawn on a platform. Use the purchase button to buy them. Upgrades last only until the end of a level.

Pro Tip:
Attacking the item will destroy it so a new item will spawn faster. This is helpful if you want to purchase something else and don't want to wait.

Chests

Purchasing a chest will spill out hearts and magic bottles that will recharage health and mana.

Traps

Traps spawn through the map. Purchase them and they will be active for a short amount of time.

Explosive barrel - Explodes after a moment
Ballista - Fire arrows across the screen.
Spikes - Smashes everyone who gets under it

Potions

Once you have collected enough stars the wizard will show up at the castle eager to sell you potions. Unfortunately, he doesnt remember what any of them do. Potions are used during combat to do something really neat.
Strategies
Camping
Camping on high ground is the best overall strategy for early nights. Few hamsters have the ability to break your defenses. Carefully plan when you will break camping to grab coins before Sneaky gets them all.

Back-2-Back
A coop only strategy. Similar to camping high ground allows players to focus attacks in a single direction.

World Wrap
Take advantage of world wrap. The hamsters are not really smart and this fools them into chasing you back and forth. World wrap is also useful for dodging attacks and defending carrots.

Armor Up
Armor reduces damage and important for later levels. An early armor purchase may save money on chests and allow faster upgrading.

Don't forget potions
Potions have lots of interesting effects and can be helpful to later levels.

Defending carrots
Losing a carrot will increase the number of hamsters that invade the level. Protect the using ranged attacks on weaker hamsters to knock them off the carrot then use melee on larger resistant enemies like Tuffy.
