How To Get Unlimited Lamp Oil

Here is how to get an unlimited amount of lamp oil. I have poor vision so I find the game to be a bit too dark for me to be able to see anything properly. I have noticed many comments from people saying that this "ruins the experience" or that they have found plenty of lamp oil, however I personally have struggled to find it in certain areas and I'd rather not have to worry about it. If you do not wish to have more lamp oil or if you do not want to alter your game, the you have no reason to be here and there is not point in you commenting on it.

Note: I am aware that there are plenty of tinderboxes in the game, however the lamp is more useful when moving and for when you are hiding as it can be turned off and on, whereas candles stay lit even if you are trying to hide from something.

1. Save your game in Amnesia. (You do not need a custom game, it will work either way.)

2. Open up the documents on your computer

3. Click "documents"

4. Click the "Amnesia" folder

5. Click "Main" if you're playing the regular story. (If you are playing a custom game, click on that instead.)

6. Click on the folder with your profile name on it

7. Find your most recently saved file, and click on it

8. You should be in the coding at this point. Press Ctrl F to search

9. Type in "LampOil" in the search bar that just popped up

10. It should say "val='' next to the words LampOil and then there will be a number. Change the number to something high, like 99999.

11. At the top, click file, then SAVE. (It's important that you save your changes.)

12. Go back into Amnesia, and turn your lantern on. It should now always have oil, provided you followed the steps correctly. Nice.

Thanks, quite useful in a 2nd new game trying to find all the collectibles and explore every corner to detail

If the game being too dark is a problem, you could alternatively turn up the gamma/brightness in the options and save yourself the hassle of modifying files. It's just simpler.

Jesus, do ya'll have brains the size of a nipple? Nobody asked here to preach on how to play the game. While I do agree that tampering with lantern stats takes away from the experience and I did come here for the curiosity of the post, I can also get behind how for some people some game mechanics can get a bit dull. Amnesia is a great game but it's not perfect and with 10+ years has some stuff outdated or for some people who do not game much it can be rather difficult to play. At the end of the day it is a game. Modding in Skyrim never seemed to be a problem so why should anyone care for another game?

It's a guide for this type of thing and theres nothing wrong with it, look I aint gonna be using this as I agree with the fact that the lamp being limited makes amnesia what it is, but the fact that people are going ham on this kind person who has made a lovely guide for people who don't like it, are absolutely stupid, it's a game, you play it how you want to. How many times have YOU used cheats on a sims game? how many times have you modded a bethesda game, how many times have you read guides LIKE THIS to get through a game. Not everyone sweats when gaming

you could do this with other items right?
i wanna do a playthrough with an inventory filled with agrippa's head or up the spawn rate to like 9000

interesting, can you change the amount of books found for a area? i was heavily involved in a domino book setup. Had taken hours with the 137 books i found where the
i was doing it for so long in reasonable light, you go thru stages of fucked up shit. The pattern is still a secret, but its found in most places above ground. alternatively Justine
multiple rooms with the projector has possibly even more books but there is no save

People quit complaining! They aren't telling you to play with the mod/cheat, back tf off. People can play however they want, especially in a game they buy themselves. Stop bellyaching and go play it yourself.
