Game Rules! (VERY IMPORTANT)
Hi! So this game can be very strict when it comes to it's game rules, especially in chat. Please do everybody a favor and give a quick read over these chat rules. Most of them are common sense, and most may seem strict, but that's because the game is open to any and all ages.

For new Steam players, you will be placed into your own chat channel that has age 18+ rules, this means your chat will be more lenient when it comes to swearing, talking about drugs, stuff like that. But just in case you move channels accidentally, take a quick glance through the rules here to be extra safe.

Links to the actual website which has these rules (just in case they get updated/changed): Game Rules[mo.ee]

For the most up to date game rules: Rules in-game[mo.ee]

For most up to date chat rules: Chat rules in-game[forums.mo.ee]

  • 1. Listen to RPG Staff Members.

Game Admins speak in orange text, chat moderators speak in green. These are your staff members. Listen to them.
If you are asked to stop doing something but continue, you can be muted.

    2. Use the correct chat channels.

There are different chat channels, each having their own purpose.
[EN] is a PG rated, English-only channel. No discussions that are inappropriate for kids in EN.
No cussing in EN. Yes, there are filters to filter out cussing, even if the filters catch it, it is still cussing in EN. No typing **** or S*** either. That is still implied cussing.
No drugs, alcohol and/or sexual talk in EN. Drugs, alcohol and sex are not PG rated conversations.
[18] is a mature-rated, English-only channel. However, certain topics and actions are still not allowed here (details outlined below).
You may cuss in 18, but not excessively. A few cuss words are ok, but you cannot spam cuss words.
[$$] is a trade channel only. Use it only for the purposes of buying and selling.
All other language channels are for the specific language only. (To access these channels, go to Contacts > Channels > [pick the channel you want] > Subscribe.)

    3. No In-Game Abuse.

No harassing or insulting other players. (Joking is allowed if it's not extreme and the other player does not take offense.)
No racism, sexism, or other discriminatory remarks.
No extremely offensive conversations. (Chat moderators may use their discretion in determining the inappropriateness of a topic.)

    4. No discussing or planning illegal activities with other players.

    5. No advertising other games or game websites.

Discussions of other games are allowed only in 18 channel or whispers. Mods may use their discretion in deciding what constitutes advertising.

    6. No Caps Lock.

One (small) word in a sentence is acceptable, but not the whole sentence. For example, "I just hit 40 Def YAY!" and "OMG, I just died!" are ok. If it's used to imply yelling, or if it's used in excess, it's unacceptable.

    7. No spam. Definitions of spam:

Sending the same message over and over again.
Pointless messages meant to annoy others.
    Random, meaningless messages.

    8. No trolling. Definitions of trolling:

Deliberately provoking another player via cynical or sarcastic remarks.
Baiting others to send an angry or offensive response to you.

    9. No discussions about Botting / Scripting / Bug Abuse or other game-abusing activities.

Do not call out a player publically with accusations of botting. If you suspect a player is botting, whisper a moderator with details about the person's actions and location.
Do not say that you are going to bot or explain how to bot. Answering the question “What is botting?” with the answer “Using a program to play a game for you” or something similar is acceptable, but no further details are accepted.

    10. No Scamming. This includes:

Convincing a player that something is worth more than what it really is so they will pay you more for it.
Convincing a player that something is worthless so they will give it to you.
Convincing a player to share their password with you.
Asking for real life information such as phone numbers.
Convincing a player the rules are different from what they truly are.

    11. Use common sense, think before you speak.

If you are about to say something that you would not want to be said to you, it's a good idea to keep that thought to yourself.

    12. No mute evasions.

Don't bring in an alt so that you may speak after you have been muted. And don't violate a rule and log off immediately after to avoid getting muted.
Violators will be muted on their next log in. And repeat offenders can be banned.

    13. It is up to the staff member(s) that is/are online at the time what the consequence is for the offense.

Standard consequences are as follows (but can change depending on the severity of the situation):
First time offense gets a warning.
Repeated offense after ignoring warning will be muted. Mutes can last up to an hour.
Habitual offenders can be auto muted or banned.

    14. No bickering in public chat about the decision that was made.

You may whisper a staff member if you wish to discuss the decision that was made as to not disrupt chat. And if you are still not satisfied, contact support@mo.ee since the game admins have the final say.

    15. No sexting.

No sexting allowed, not even in whisper. Due to the fact that sexting is illegal when involving minors, it is not allowed in game. You never know if the person on the other end of the computer is of legal age or not. Even in places where there are no specific laws against sexting with minors, the offenders can be punished by child pornography laws. If someone sexts you in whisper, please report to active mod or admin so that we can keep the game legal and active.

Furthermore, if any situations arise that are not covered in this and a staff member has to step in to take control and diffuse the situation, it is up to the staff member to use their own discretion as to what action to take and this will be edited to reflect the situation for any possible further instances.
Your Very First Steps...
It's important to note that this guide begins as soon as you finish the games tutorial. Get past the boring part, and you will enjoy your stay. Please left click on an image to view it's full size!

So, you've just logged into RPG MO, and you are unsure what there is to do, or what you should be doing. Well good thing I care about your feelings. And feeling overwhelmed is never a good thing!

You've just landed in Dorpat after completeing the tutorial, this is the main town most players frequent while they aren't out in the world.

Now that you're off of that despicable tutorial island.. you can do a million different things, so now it's up to you to decide what that is going to be..

Do you want to work on a tradeskill & amass a fortune while you're still just a newbie? Or do you want to jump right into combat?

But before we get into that, there's some very important game options that I recommend you turn on/double check are on.

Game options & enabling mods!
In this section I will explain a very important piece of the game to you. This is the game options, and the in-game mods. Please left click on an image to view it's full size!

TIP: All mods should be loaded automatically if you're playing on the Steam version, phew!

However, even if you are on the Steam version of this game, it's always good to know how to navigate through the games UI, so let's get into this..

First things first, where is the game options menu? It is the little black statue with yellow bricks & a red background at the top right of your screen.
I've circled the menus that we're going to be covering, let's get into the Wiki & Mods menu. After left clicking "Wiki & Mods menu", a panel will pop up on your screen. By default, it should be set to Mods Info window, this lists all mods that are available in-game currently, you can click more info to view what certain ones actually do. I recommend pressing Select All, and then Load Selected, just to make sure everything is enabled. These mods really do change the way you will experience the game.

Besides the default tab that you go to, "Mods Info", on the "Load" tab. You should see a "Wiki" button near the top of the window you have open. This game has it's very own wiki built in-game. Everything is up to date, you can view all NPCs, all monsters, all items, all crafting recipes, you can sort through mobs to view certain level ones. It really is a great feature, and it can save you a lot of time by getting used to this little feature.

The next thing that I'd like to get into is the Game options menu, so once you're done in the mods & wiki window, close out of it, hover your mouse back over the statue in the top right, and open up the Game options menu. You can click through these options and set the game up how you like, however, the main reason I'm showing you this menu is to turn on a very cool option that will modernize the look of the game. Left click on the "Video" tab and you will have a few options, screen size, full screen mode, ect. The option I recommend everybody enables is the "Toogle Smoother Interface" option. This will make the games UI looks 1000x times better. Trust me!
Captchas!
This will be a very brief section, but it's also one of the most important. If you get -5 captcha points your character will be jailed, then you have to explain to a mod/admin why/how you got in there!

Basically, whatever you're doing in game, whether it's buying items from a shop, killing monsters, fishing, almost anything, there's a chance to have a captcha box appear in the middle of your screen, you have quite a lot of time to complete these, but make sure you don't miss them!

The Captcha jailing system works like this. Completing 1 captcha counts as +1 point. Not filling out a captcha counts as -1 point. So if you miss 5 captchas in a row, you will be jailed. Or, for example, you miss 4 captchas, complete 1, and miss 2 more, you will be jailed.

TIP: It's recommended that you save up to 4 captcha points and use them all once somebody drinks a 2x potion. You can open up the captcha menu to spend your points by typing /penalty in-game.

Tradeskilling!
In this game, there's a TON of different skills that you can level up. Even in the very beginning of the game, you can start doing a lot of these. Here are the top 3 that I would recommend any player to start doing as soon as possible! Please left click on an image to view it's full size!

You should immediately bank any items and tools that you don't need, and make sure you have the right tool equipped.

    Fishing!
  • You can start fishing right inside of Dorpat. Here are some locations. (Fishing Rod required, and it must be equipped).

    Woodcutting!
  • You can start woodcutting all around Dorpat, any tree you see, hit it! (Woodcutter's Axe required, and it must be equipped).

    Mining!
  • The other tradeskill that I'd recommend doing would be mining, there's an underground cave right inside of town. If you're standing at the bank, look north west. From there you can mine to your hearts desire. (Iron Pickaxe required, and it must be equipped).
Melee Combat!
Here I will go over the basics of how to start leveling up your combat skills if you're a brand new player. Please left click on an image to view it's full size!

Now, you may be the type of person who just enjoys killing things, that's perfectly fine, we aren't judgemental here!

Your first order of business is to equip your bronze dagger, you don't want to break your knuckles this early now, do you?

TIP: To equip/use any item in the game, there's two ways of going about it, you can either shift + left click on the item (recommended) or you can right click and then left click use.

Now that you've equipped your weapon, let's get into how you actually go about leveling up your combat skills in RPG MO. In the game options, you will see an option that says "Fighting mode". This is how you choose what skill(s) you want to level first, and the quickest.

TIP: No matter what stance you're training on, your Health will always be gaining the same amount of XP.

Defensive stance means that you're training defense.

Accurate stance means that you're training accuracy.

Aggressive stance means you're training strength.

Controlled stance means that you're training accuracy, strength and defense equally, so all XP is shared, it's slower than leveling one stat at a time, but everything is getting XP.
Your first target should be a Chicken, Moth or White Rat, these are level 1 monsters that pose very little threat. In fact, when they do manage to hit you, they're really just giving you a big kiss!

As you level up, you may want to move on to harder things like dragons-I mean Hens, and Gray Wizards. The higher level a monster is, the more expensive things they are going to drop in most cases.

TIP: It's also important while you're new to be following the quest chain in the game. It gives you coins, XP and the games premium currency (MOS). Along with helping you explore the game world, be careful though and take your time. The quests ramp up in difficulty quite fast, so it may recommend killing something stronger than you are able to kill right now.
Magic Combat!
So in this section I will explain how magic works in this game, it's quite different than any other game, so you may find yourself a bit confused at the start. But be warned, I would not recommend magic combat to any new player. It gets VERY expensive! Please left click on an image to view it's full size!

TIP: Since I wrote this section the game got a huge update when it launched on Steam, and most of it was centered around Magic, they are added spell books (similar to magic pouches), Spell Orbs (a new type of weapon for mages). I will keep this section updated as more things change, right now though, it would be a waste of time, because none of the things they added are that important for mages currently (they need to be buffed more)! They also gave robes better stats, but they still aren't good enough, in my opinion!

Okay, so you've ignored my warnings and want to do Magic anyways, huh? Fair enough, that's exactly what I would do as well. Magic is a very expensive combat option, but it's also quite rewarding, currently using a strong melee weapon + the magic pouch (to cast spells) is the best option for damage while fighting most mobs (PvE) in the game. (I will explain this combo later on in the magic guide).

So let me explain magic. To start, you will need to have some spells. Spells are consumables in this game, just like food is. You also craft spells at certain altars that you can find around the game world, or you can buy them from other players from the market. Magician NPCs around each town will sell spells too, but they are overpriced, and not worth buying, ever. You will also need a magic pouch equipped. You should already have a "Small Magic Pouch" from the tutorial, and maybe a few left over spells. To "put" spells into your magic pouch, have it equipped, and have spell scrolls in your inventory, you can either right click each spell scroll and press use, or do it the smart way and hold shift + spam left click the scrolls to put them into your magic pouch.

As your magic skill levels up, you can replace your magic pouch with better ones, each upgraded pouch will allow you to have 1 extra set of spells in there, and it also increases your max spell capacity by 1000. So, for example. Your first pouch = 1 spell type, 1000 of each spell. Your second pouch = 2 spell types, 2000 of each spell.

TIP: If you're playing on the Steam version of RPG MO, all mods should be enabled by default, which means the game will auto cast every spell in your pouch for you.

Here's an example of what you should see if you have a magic pouch equipped, with spells inside of it.
It's also recommended to have a weapon equipped too, since your magic pouch only takes up 1 hand, like a shield. Now you have a choice here.. you can either put on a melee weapon (this is the most popular option). So then you're hitting hard with your sword, and you're also hitting the enemy with magic. You can wear a staff which will lower the cooldown time on your spells and give you a small buff to things like aim, magic, ect. Or you can wear a wand which won't give you the reduced cooldown time on your spells, but it will give you a big boost in aim, magic, ect.

TIP: Keep in mind that a big part of your damage is coming from your 1h weapon itself, and not the spells, so having a nice weapon is going to boost your damage a ton. You attack with your spells, and whatever melee weapon you have equipped as well. So make sure you're in the correct combat stance that you want to be in.

So the choice is completely yours, just keep in mind that a lower cooldown time on spells = more casting of spells, which = more Magic XP. Higher damage (from the wand) = less casting of spells, but higher damage. (Generally Staff = faster magic XP, Wand = Harder hits, but less magic XP). Also, if you decide to not train with a melee weapon (like a sword) a big part of your damage will be coming from spells, so you will be leveling up more slowly in whatever combat stance you've choosen (defense, strength, accuracy). So to sum it all up.

Staff = Less damage, more casts with your spells, so you get more magic XP.
Wand = Higher damage, less magic XP.
Melee weapon (sword, ect) = Higher damage, less casts with your spells, but more melee damage, so you get less magic XP, more XP in whatever stance you're in.

To end this Magic guide, you might be wondering what armor you should be equipping. Some games have a penalty to wearing warrior armor as a mage, in this game, it isn't like that. There was an update for the Steam launch buffing robes and nerfing warrior armor, but from what I've tested, wearing warrior armor is still the best option.
Buying & Selling items with NPCs!
You're almost there! You have almost beat the hardest boss in RPG MO! And that is understanding the basics of the game! Please left click on an image to view it's full size!

Now, whether you're a tradeskiller or a combat lover, you should have some items on you that are worth some coin, and I'm sure you want to improve your character and look cool like I do.

Simply put, you can either sell your items off to a vendor in town, or you can start making some real money, and learn about the market (the games way of trading between players).

Generally speaking, selling things on the Market is the best way to go. Selling items to NPCs is bit weird, let me explain briefly. You can only sell an item to an NPC that the NPC is selling themself. So if you're at a NPC, and they have bronze items. You won't be able to sell an iron dagger to them for example, they'll only be intersted in buying bronze items.

To sell to an NPC, left click the item inside of their shop that you also are looking to sell. Near the bottom of the shop menu, you should see a buy & sell button, along with a quantity (a number). Select the item, and the quantity. And you've sold your item!
The Market! How to buy & sell with others players!
You've finally made it! One more swing and that boss will be dead! This is how you will become rich in RPG MO. Capitalize on peoples pricing, sell your drops, spend your coins on gear upgrades, pets, anything! Please left click on an image to view it's full size!

The market can be accessed from your chest and by left clicking the "Market" tab in the middle of the chest UI. The UI is a bit confusing at first, so I'll do my best to explain.
Inside the market, you will see a button called "Search", this is the default tab that is opened, and it lets you search any & all items in-game.

You will also have categories to choose from, are you looking for armor, food, weapons, ect. Beside that, you can view a list of all items depending on what category you're searching. It's important to note, these are not items that people have listed, they are all the items in the game, that can be listed.

The Min - Max option is just to search for a price range, so you don't have to look through gear worth millions of coins.

TIP: It's also possible to ignore a category, or all caregories, and just search every item listed, by just pressing Search without changing any options. You can do this in the "Buy" & the "Sell" tab.

Now, the last tab we haven't talked about is the Buy & Sell tab, this is a vital option that new players will ignore. While on the "Buy" tab, you're searching items that you're interested in buying, and that other players have listed and are ready to sell right away.

On the "Sell" tab, you're looking at items that you're intersted in selling, and that other players have put offers up to buy right away.

It's important while selling an item, to not only check the "Buy" tab to see what others are selling the same item for, but it's also beneficial to you to search the "Sell" tab, often times you will find people listing their items for lower than what somebody is wanting to purchase the item for, and you can capitalize on peoples ignorance/laziness.

On to the "Transactions" tab, here you will find any items that you've posted a listing for, whether it's to sell, or buy, and this is also where you come to collect items/coins that you have gotten from using the Market.

At the very top in the "Transactions" tab, you will find your currently listed items, in the top right hand corner you will see a tab that says "Announce" by default. It will probably show up just as "Ann" because the box is a little glitched, but you get the point.
Upon opening up this tab, you will see a few options, "Delete, Resubmit, Announce, Edit" These are fairly self explanatory, the only one I will cover is the "Announce" option.

Announce is essentially a feature that posts your current transactions with the prices to the trade chat in-game. This is how people "link" items in chat that you can hover your cursor over to see what it is/what it does.

So, you press the Announce option from the top right of your screen, it will automatically change the options for each item to "Announce" (or you can announce just a few items by opening the tab beside whatever item you want to announce) and then press "Go"

From there, you will see a box open up at the top of the Market window. Announces: 1 (or however many you want to announce). "Expand" which will let you remove some items if you so desire. "Cancel" which will close the announce options if you've changed your mind, and then "Announce" which will shout all of your items and their prices out to Trade chat.

Example of this being done:
On to the final tab, "New offer" this is how you post items you're selling, and post items you're interested in buying. So, from top to bottom, the first option is "Type". Do you want to sell an item? Or are you looking to purchase an item? "Sell" = You're selling something. "Buy" = You're looking to buy something.

"Item" doesn't need an explanation, choose whatever item from this option. "To" Do you want to post your offer to everybody in the game? Or are you making a trade to somebody personally? If you list a name in this box, then only that person will be able to see your listing.

TIP: To check if somebody has posted to you, be in the "Search" tab, and select "Buy". Don't change any other options, and hit the Search button right beside "Next >>". If somebody has posted a trade offer using your name, it will be the very first post, and it will be highlighted in green.

"Price", put your price here. "Amount".. "Total cost" & "Make Offer" which is the last button you need to press before your offer is listed. That's all there is to know about the Market. I hope this helped you out!

TIP: Each time you "Announce" items from the Market, you spend "announce points" that reset every hour. You get 4 points every hour. This prevents people from standing there spamming their items every 5 minutes.

My few gripes about this guide are the lack of explanation in mechanics (What the stats do and why).

Other thing, this guide is reading as if it's trying to teach me how to RPG for the first time.

Nicely written for those completely new to games.

Not everything you see at a NPC is being sold, a lot of NPCs just purchase items from other players.
