Introduction

Note: There have been look-a-like copycat guides popping up. If it's not labeled by THN (The Horror Network), it's NOT one of mine and therefore not up to the quality that I aim to provide.

Welcome to the King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match Final Edition achievement guide.

This title is the easiest King of Fighters game in terms of achievements. You will, however, require a boosting partner because online is completely dead. Don't worry, though, the online portion of the achievements should only take around an hour to complete at most. Overall, the achievements should only take you between 2-3 hours to grab.

Settle in and enjoy one of the greatest fighting games in the history of gaming. The music alone should be enough to keep you entertained throughout the duration of your achievement grinding.

Arcade/Single Player
It is possible to get most, if not all, of these achievements in one playthrough.

To make these easier, make sure that you do the following in the Options menu:

Set the difficulty to 1(Easiest)
Set your players power gauge to MAX
Set your defence to level 8
Set CPU's defence to level 1

Ideally, during your first playthrough, you will want to unlock Orochi as he is super OP and will net you all of the achievements easier... but this is not required unless you especially suck at this game. Here is how to unlock Orochi:

You will need 6-9 Super Finishes (DM's or SDM's) before the 7th match. For me, the easiest DM and SDM moves were from Kyo, but this may not be the case for everyone. Hit up Practice mode and check out the DM and SDM moves for a few characters until you find one that suits your playstyle best. Most people find Joe incredibly easy and powerful.

Assist Attack
Perform an assist attack ( Arcade Play Only ).
This achievement can be annoying, but with two controllers or a boosting partner it is made quite easy. Start an arcade game with default settings and pick The Fatal Fury Team (Terry, Andy and Joe... in that order).

When the match begins, press start on a second controller. You will then be taken back to the character selection screen so that the second player can pick their characters. The second player can pick anyone, it doesn't matter.

Have the second player trip you repeatedly (Down+B, or Down+SK) until you are dizzy. Do not kick again after player one has become dizzy. While your character is dizzy, press RB (LP+LK+SP). Upon doing this, one of your teammates will come in and attack.

Score Hunter
Highest point exceeds 300 thousand ( Arcade/Single Play Only ).
I got this one without even trying. It shouldn't be too difficult, especially if you know one character really well and can land their DM's and SDM's regularly. You should be able to get this one while going for The King of Fighters achievement. If you don't have enough points, you'll just have to keep playing the Single Player mode until you are able to net enough. Again, I highly suggest Kyo; even button mashing with him lands in DM's and SDM's quite often.

Perfect Match
Pass level perfectly in one round (without injury) ( Arcade/Single Play Only ).
It is recommended to save this one for when you've obtained Orochi if you're having a difficult time. If you're not having a difficult time, you should have no issue obtaining this achievement. As always, pick the character that you're the best with and do your best not to get hit. This should be incredibly easy with the aforesaid settings on the very first round. It only has to be one round, not the entire match.

Untouchable
Achieve straight win ( Arcade Play Only ).
Again, you'll get this one while going for The King of Fighters achievement. You must beat one entire team with one of your team members.

Champion
Finish the game (can continue) ( Arcade/Single Play Only ).
Very easy if you have followed the aforementioned settings. Simply beat the game. You can continue, so don't sweat it if it's your first time playing.

The King of Fighters
Finish the game ( can't lose one round, can't continue) ( Arcade/Single Play Only ).
Quite honestly, even without Orochi, this achievement shouldn't be too grievous. With the aforementioned settings, the CPU is dumb as a post. Just play smart and use your favorite/most familiar character as your main. You can NOT lose even ONE round, so beware!

Uncontrollable
Iori(Ura) or Leona(Ura) appear as CPU ( Arcade/Single Play Only ).
As far as I'm aware, even if you meet the requirements for this achievement Iori(Ura) and Leona(Ura) are not guaranteed to show, as Rugal can show instead. Below are the requirements:

To have these characters appear, you will need to have between 6 and 9 DM's or SDM's, as well you cannot lose a single round before the fourth battle.

So again, pick a character that you're good with and make sure that you meet the criteria. If Rugal shows up instead, curse at him and restart your game.
Multiplayer
5 Continuous Wins
Achieve 5 straight wins in online fight.
These must be RANKED matches. Grab a boosting partner, as online has been dead for aeons. Once the game begins, in fact as early as the character selection screen, the player that will be losing can quit the game. You will net a win for them quitting. Do this five consecutive times.

10 Continuous Wins
Achieve 10 straight wins in online fight.
These must be RANKED matches. Grab a boosting partner, as online has been dead for aeons. Once the game begins, in fact as early as the character selection screen, the player that will be losing can quit the game. You will net a win for them quitting. Do this ten consecutive times.

Rookie
Achieve 10 wins in online fight.
You will obviously obtain this one at the same time as 10 Continuous Wins if you're boosting and haven't played and won prior matches.

Professional
Achieve 50 wins in online fight.
You're halfway there! If you haven't lost your sanity yet, keep going for the 100 wins achievement.

The King
Achieve 100 wins in online fight.
Now see, that wasn't so hard was it? A little tedious and time consuming, but not hard. An hour should net you all of the online achievements with a boosting partner. Just keep quitting at the character select screen, like the champs you are!
Wrap Up
Good luck in your achievement hunting!

ranked matches are not needed for continuous wins. We tested those achievements using player matches w/ single characters.
You can no longer quit during character select and have it count as a win. It will list as draw/draw :csdmeh:
