Introduction
Well hello there!
This quick guide will describe you the different modes and their scoring system.

I will not go in the details on how to get the best score in each level, but I will rather simply explain how each mode works so thoses a bit confused by that torrent of big numbers get the systems right.
Onward!
Normal Version - Original
Summary
This mode is the most straightforward scoring system in the game.

- Enemies have a set number of points awarded upon destruction.
- Each enemy gives a set number of amber gems upon destruction you have to approach to collect.
- At the end of the level, each gem of every type offers bonus points, you are only awarded the bonus of the gem you collected since your last death. So if you collect 10 gems, die, then collect 10 other gems and finish the levels, only 10 gems will be counted.
- Not dying during a level offers a "No miss" bonus on the level finish screen.
- Remaining lives upon full game completion awards bonus points.
- When big enemies dies, they cancel all the bullets around them to transform them into gems. So ideally, wait until the screen is filled with bullets to kill them. (Also called "Bullet cancel")

Conclusion
- Don't die
- Collect everything
- Kill everything
Normal Version - Manic and Ultra Difficulties
Summary
By far the most complicated system in the game, you will discover why.

Main counter
You will notice now a number below your lives on the screen.
This number raise as you attack enemies and drop very quickly when you don't.

Every enemy has a base score, when you kill one the score of the enemy will be multiplied by your main counter, so it goes:
(Enemy Score) x (Main Counter) = Score awarded

So this means you will have to constantly kill things, but without killing them too fast as you may ends up with a empty screen and nothing to kill.

The Enemy counter and mini counters
Okay this will be complicated, so read that well, I’ll try to be clear.

When you attack a big enemy (Think mid-boss) a big counter will appears, this is the enemy counter and above it you will notice several mini-counters, one for each of your beetles.

The mini counters are dumping their points in the enemy counter all the time to make it raise further, so the tactic is to always attack big enemies with all your beetles to make their enemy counter increase further.

But there's a thing:

The Skyrocket
I'm actually not sure how it's called, I first learned it as "Skyrocket", but I know some call it "Counter Banking".

It consist in purposely attack the big enemy very slow so you damage it less BUT while you beetles are continuously attacking it. It will make the enemy survive longer, thus having way bigger mini-counter. You can do that by tapping the normal shot button like 2-3 times by second or using the shortcut RB button. The goal being slowing your attacks, but activating the beetles.

Once this is done and the enemies is about to explode (Because he will die, or he will change form) you have to attack it very slowly without using the beetles: You can do that by tapping fast the auto-attack button or holding RT. This will start a "skyrocket". The details are strange but that's how it goes: Making the counters go red and attacking the enemy right after will bank all the mini-counter into the enemy counter, thus increasing it very very fast.

This will make the enemy counter attain huge numbers, making your main counter increasing very fast as well.

Let's see that again:
- Attack the enemy slowly using your beetles and weak main attacks (RB)
- When the enemy is about to explode (Mid-life or death) use only very slow attacks (RT)

This is mostly used on mid bosses, I suggest you don't use that on normal and big enemies for now. It's useless against end-level bosses because you lose your main counter anyway.

If you're still not sure, download a top leaderboard score and activate the windows showing the buttons. Skip to a mid boss and pay attention to the buttons pressed and how the player attack.

Bombs
Note that using a bomb will significantly drop your main counter, so be wary of that.

Conclusion
- Always attack enemies and never attack nothing
- During mid-bosses, uses the skyrocket technique to tremendously increase your main counter
- Don't die
- Collect all the amber by bullet canceling or collecting it
Arrange Version
Summary
Okay so this one is actually almost like the Maniac/Ultra difficulties of the Standard version But there are a few important differences.
So I'll explain this system by comparing it with the normal-maniac difficulty.

Changes between the Normal version and the Arrange
- The main counter decay when you damage nothing is slower
- The amount of time the counter is stuck when attacking nothing is bigger
- The counter number in the end level (before the boss) is saved and a part of it carry on the next level.
- Using the focus attack (Holding A) will not only increase your damage output but also radically increase the counter gain when damaging an enemy.
- Attacking from close will increase futher the counter increase rate
- If you have at least one bomb when you get hit by an enemy bullet you will use it automatically, but at the cost of your whole bomb stock. So it's way better to use the bombs manually, unless you just have one.
- You start with max power, with 6 options instead of 4 and you can change your weapons using Y button.

Conclusion
- Always hit enemies, try to use the focus attack (Hold A) the most you can
- Get close to the enemies if you can
- Don't die
- Collect amber
1.5 / Matsuri version
Summary
This one actually play a bit like Ketsui, you ever heard about that one?
The closer you are to the enemies, the better.

This is wholly different from the previous systems.
To increase your counter you have to collect amber, you know how to do that, killing enemy does the trick. The "Sky rocket / Banking" system from the maniac version doesn't work anymore. Therefore you can forget about the different timing / tapping system.

Distance system
BUT, there is a very important detail: If you get close and personnal with the enemies and damage or kill them VERY close you will bank a truckload of big ambers.
You can notice when you attack at the good distance: A stream of amber will flow to you and the game will pretty much slow down. Hard.

To summarize, get personnal and attack the closest you can the enemies.
That's the most of it really, it's simple on the paper but very difficult in practice.

Rank System
As your counter get bigger, you may notice the bullets will become faster as well.
You can notice this easily by looking at the bullet, colored trails will appears behind them.

MAX Mode
This mode is available on the weapon selection.
You start with weapons maxed out, but in exchange the enemies are a bit stronger.
There's no choice better than another, the normal and MAX mode are distinct leaderboard so play whichever mode you prefer.

Bombs
You start with one bomb, but you use it automatically when hit.

Conclusion
- Attack enemies in close quarter and be very agressive
- Don't die
- Collect amber
- Good luck
The End
There you go, I hope this made things a bit more clearer for you.
Time to squash bugs and reach to the trillons points.

If I written some stupid stuff, don't hesitate to comment or send me a message.

This game has one of the worst scoring systems of any game I've ever played. Right up there with Ikaruga. I can't even have fun with the game now.

No, the no miss bonus is awarded if you don't die.

I think the "no miss" bonus is awarded if you do not miss any enemy, not if you do not die.

You forgot a very important part of Arrange's scoring system, the mini-counters increase faster depending on how many bombs you have. Having one bomb or no bombs doesn't do much, but they sure add up. If you have all six then they increase ridiculously fast, try it out in training on a Mid Boss and update the guide if you see this.
