Why would I want to keep track of their age?
All Steam achievements in Viridi depend on the age of your plants, so it’s useful to know just when did you plant them.
How do I do it?
Whenever you plant a new seedling, rename it to include that day’s date in a format you prefer. This way even weeks later it’s easy to see how old the plant is.

The game unfortunately doesn't allow pasting text in the name field, so if you want to keep (part of) the Latin name, you need to type it in manually.
Purpose 1: Maturation & Blooming
Plants mature in about 2 weeks from planting, and bloom in about 3-6 weeks. (I had one plant that took 10 weeks to bloom.)

Based on my own experience some plants don’t bloom ever, so it’s useful to know when to give up all hope on one, and throw it in the garden.

When naming a plant you don’t yet have both the maturation and the blooming achievement for, it’s useful to leave the species’ name in some recognisable form in the new name, so when an achievement pops up, you know which plant it belongs to.
Purpose 2: Throwing in the Garden
In the case of plants that you already have the maturity & bloom achievements for, including the species' name in the new name is not important.

Other tips
If you want to play efficiently it’s enough to log in the game every 4 days to water your plants.
(Once I logged in only after 8 days, and none of my plants died, so you might risk stretching it longer than 4 :P)
As of 2022 this is apparently no longer true - plants never die, just stay 'parched'.

There isn't much information about how weeds affect your plants, but they don't seem to affect the maturing and blooming, so you don't necessarily need to bother with them.

If you found this guide helpful, please give it a thumbs up, so others can see it too!

Have a nice day!

I got it, but that was back in 2016. The dev may have updated the game since then and broke it, or idk. (Steam's achi stats page says 1.6% of players got it.)

Did anyone ever get the "You are really good at growing plants; maybe you should take it easy!" achievement? Cause I'm pretty sure I sent way more than 100 mature plants to the garden at this point but so far I've not gotten the achievement.

I have had Agave Blue Glow die on me one time. It had been 2 years and nothing else in the pot died.

The only way I've had a plant die on me was over watering.

Your plants will never die! I left these guys unattended for years at a time, they just show up as "parched" and don't age.

I could say plants don't really die even if you let them like four or five months without attention ^^' I came back to the game the last week and haven't been there since December or before, and was able to recover my plants from watering them (I didn't used the vacations option, I just stoped playing)
