RAGE Extra Collectables From The Dead City.
By Redback
This guide is intended to assist with finding extra ammunition and valuables in the Dead City which can be returned to as often as you like to help you stock up on a number of items to top up your inventory. Once you have completed the mission to obtain your 'Defib' upgrade just exit the area and before returning to the Doctor, go back in and you will find approximately 20 Mutant Heaps which will yield either money or goods you can use or sell.

Particularly handy on the harder levels when cash and items are harder to accumulate, so doing it multiple times will pay off for you. I often go in again and again or whenever passing the area and if I need to, multiple times as well.

After the first time there are not quite as many to loot, but still about 15 or so which add up for sure. You only find small muties in there and they are easily handled on any level, so save your ammo for something else.

The attached link will indicate where loot is located.

Edit: Also, you can go into the Dead City even before you are sent there the first time by the Doctor. You can enter but not go far and if you look around you will find (2) Mutant Heaps that you can loot straight away. Not sure exactly what they yield and I think from memory you can re-visit them as well, no big deal just a bit more fun.

no problem!!! normally the bone piles contain only money, ammo, and maybe an occasional crafting ingredient if you're lucky (much like the ones from bone piles during the intial visits in the Sewers). but never have they given out an item such as an EMP Grenade, which you have to gain the recipe to make them (let alone loot an Enforcer's body).

so with that said, the only thing I can suggest doing (before saving Marshall), is doing repeated runs through Dead City to see if you can something like that.

That is a surprise, I can't say I have seen that! As it turns out I am at the stage on my other computer to go now and save Captain Marshall. I will have a look and go back to the Dead City and see if it happens for me. I will also check my present inventory to see if I have any from a previous run through collecting. That's one of the reasons I love this game because of the new things you keep finding on a new playthrough. Please let me know of anything else you find along the way. Thanks for the comment.

believe it or not man, the last time I played this game, after completing the Defib upgrade mission, I re-entered Dead City to loot the bone piles as usual. However, one of the piles ended up giving me a free EMP Grenade (which was quite random and surprising), as you first get them and its crafting recipe during the very beginning of the Authority Prison mission.

Good to know it helped. The loot piles I missed happened because in making the vid I wanted people to look for them all. Just like there are more to loot first time through, you have to look in a few different places to find them.

Very helpful. There was a loot pile you missed, just before you went up the escalator to take out the slime mutant. After taking out the slime mutant, there was another loot pile you missed near the place he was standing.

Sorry, I found them quite a while ago (3 yrs or more) and had them in a set of notes I compiled after that. Kept looking at them and decided to add to my profile for others to see and make use of. If you need to know anything else feel free to ask, I may just have an answer for you or make a vid to help.

Thank you, I will have a look at making the adjustment. That's the first video I have attached so I will see what I can do.

Really helpful guide you made there. I wish I had known this when doing my Ultra Nightmare run, because I was always running low on ammo and cash. Just as feedback, you can embedd a YouTube video in your guide (like with a player instead of just a URL). Would make it a bit more aesthetic. Also 180p60fps is sweet! Good work :)
