How to beat 16 Bit Trader
By Kyzka
There are a lot of bad reviews for this game because people are frustrated by the unfair game play, the non responsive developers and because of the broken quirks that have resulted through shoddy programming. This guide will help you get around a lot of that so you can get the most out of your purchase.

Story and Objectives
Your apparently the son of a father who at one time or another was murdered by a tyrant known as Van Talodd. You vow to avenge his death by striving to become richer than Van Talodd which means that your overall objective is to accumulate a million dollars and hopefully before 1500 days. How exactly is becoming personally rich going to teach another murdering rich guy a valuable lesson which he will never forget? For some reason the developer thinks so and thats good enough for us. Yes by gaining a million dollars our arch nemesis will throw in the towel against his own riches and become our pimp... end of story.
Save Files are Not Working...
There are throngs of gamers complaining about the save files not working or not working properly.
Before you begin to try out this game it is CRUCIAL you first test the save files to see what works and what doesn't. There is no point in going on with this game if no save file works for you as you will be relying on this option after every second click believe me.

In the save section you will have the options 'Save and Exit' 'Stats' 'Slot1' 'Slot2' 'Slot3'.

Save and Exit - This is what you need to press if you want to get back to the main menu. It will save your current progress and if you want to continue from the spot you have just exited then you will need to click on 'continue' on the main menu screen. MOST of the time you will be clicking this option when you run into a thief or a Kraken but more on that later. RARELY if ever will you want to click on the word continue on the main screen.

SLOT 1,2,3 - These are all available to you from the get go. For me all three worked at first but as time went on the 3rd one stopped working for me completely. It is possible that the save slots have a 'limit' to them or they are 'limited' to a specific game you have started. It is important that you save your progress CONSTANTLY when you can and when things start to go bad press save and exit and then press LOAD on the main screen instead of continue and go to the slot you are constantly using.
Theives and Kraken
These are the reason why you want to save constantly. There is literally no defense against their attacks. The thieves appear randomly on land across the map and the kraken does the same in the ocean. Imagine the land your traversing as a huge snake and ladders board. The only difference is that the snake heads keep moving with every single turn you make moving one step on. The problem is that their location on the board at any given time is invisible until you land on them, then they basically will bleed you dry taking practically everything you have earnt. The greater the amount you have, the more you will lose.

It doesn't matter how many people you have with you. I had a army of 3,000 and the two theives still crippled me. However it is comforting to know that there is a trick and this is where the importance of saving comes in. Lets say you have just visited 'Rogash' you then save your current game to slot 1. You then clock on the map and move to the next town only to be confronted by theives. If you press save and exit. The game counts that as a turn meaning that the theives have moved on. You then press 'Load' and press 'Slot 1' which is where you saved your game and it will take you back to Rogash the town where you were before you met up with the theives, therefore no money has been stolen. If you click on the map and click on the same location where you met the theives before you will find that they have magically gone.

The Lesson is SAVE CONSTANTLY.
Trading
The game encourages you to click on the market place, learn the various prices as you travel, buy when cheap and sell them when they are expensive. To that I say 'fiddlesticks'. Instead keep it simple. DONT BOTHER WITH THIS. You never have to trade a single thing at the market to win this game.
Quests
There is an achievment connected to completing all side quests. If you remember that there is 'Stat' option in this save game section. This is where you can go to see how many side quests you have currently done. The game shows you that there are 29 in total. As you travel around each major town make it a habit to click on the market place, bank and pub to at least see if there are any quests available for you. You can only do 3 quests in total at any given time and have to at least complete 1 of them before you get the option of doing another.

How do you do sidquests? Lets say that you click on the pub at Zin ta ka and that there is a side quest of someone stating that they need to go to spive. After accepting the quest, travel down to spive and click on the market place, pub or bank. One of those three locations will have the quest option at the bottom and clicking on it will either finish the quest or continue it requesting that you travel to another location.
Travelling around
To beat this game before day 1500 it is important that you make it a habit of travelling ALONE. Do not buy caravans as the more that travel with you the more expensive travelling is. Also keep in mind that when you get to ports you can literally cut the board in half and travel from port to port. This is important if you want to keep the amount of times you save down.
Mining
This is how you will beat the game. When you first appear. Sell your 2 diamonds at the bank. You can then click on the pub and buy a drink for one of the three customers. A 1 gold coin drink will suffice, if your lucky one of them might have a treasure map for sale for 50 coins or more. Take it. Eventually as your money grows you can buy more expensive drinks and collect more treasure maps. Eventually I had about 20 before i finished the game. You can check how many maps you have in the stat screen.

Anyway once you have a map or not purchase 5 people and immediately head to the closest mine. Search the mine and collect the diamonds. Travel back to where you came from and go to the pub and fire the 5 people you originally hired so that you are by yourself again. Go to the bank and sell all the diamonds you collected.

You should have enough money now to travel around and do a few side quests. Once a few days have gone by make you way down to Zanndar, Losidofa or Badembo. Remember to buy drinks and get a few maps if you can at the pubs. Again hire several workers you should be able to afford quite a few more this time 25 -50 depending on how many diamonds you found on your first trip to the mine. REMEMBER TO SAVE before you travel off to the mine with all those people and DONT SAVE AT THE MINE just in case you dont have enough money to get back to town. Alter the amount of people accordingly so that you take travel costs into account. This means you might have to check the stat screen if you lose count. Once you again have collected all those diamonds, travel back to the pub where you hired them, fire ALL those people until you are alone. Then sell all your diamonds at the bank. Now you should have a LOT of money. Repeat this process once or twice more again after a few days and congratulations you have beaten the game before day 1500.

For instance at day 600 i found over 15,000 diamonds using the above technique.
Broken Achievments
There are 5 known broken achievements to this game.

Namely do all side quests, travel around the map, penetrate the mine (if 15,000 diamonds does not do it what will?) play for 5 and 10 days. The developers know and they DONT CARE. So if you want to 100% complete this game I suggest the following. Type in 'Sam Achievments' in google search go there and download the programme just DO NOT USE IT on games that have VAC ban like CSGO. Hope this helps against the frustration.

Thanks for the guide! And Promoblast was right, route from Tarkur directly to Siminne past Zahtei was indeed the last unnoticed and unused for me, it opened the Traveller achievement!

10 days consecutive log ins.
MONST3RTRUCK 18 Mar, 2017 @ 4:45pm
To get 10 days you have to keep the game open for 10 days straight or is it just 10 days of consecutives "logins"?
