Short introduction
So, like, this guide will totally show you, like, what you can do and stuff to easier survive get drunk. Sillyness aside, please note that I have only added tips I know of and there might and most likely is a lot more to discover. Feel free to correct me in the comments or add your hints.
General Tips
  • You can break down doors with thrown items such as a brick
  • Rooms with toilets always have TP stashed in small black box usually opposite to the toilets
  • Pick up weapons and drop them when they are empty to save precious ammo
  • Your house has a bank. Use it. You can also craft items in the kicthen or at the work bench regardless of where your items are stashed.
  • You can use items while looting with RMB
  • Use Poopin' Pills or Rotaway if you find them as their long duration makes saving them unnecessary.
  • Thrown items, plasma shots and even ragdoll items can bounce back and damage you. (The Ocelot's bullets does not damage the user)
  • After opening a door, try waiting a couple of seconds if you don't see any enemies. In-fighting between factions or trap-springing usually won't happen until you are close enough and why fight raiders, when S.O.B will do it for you?
  • You can use several bags as long as they have differing names
  • Using an outfit instead of two pieces of clothes gives you the extra space in your inventory
  • Personally, I never drink unmarked booze
  • Never return home without a full inventory (and courier stash if aqquired)
  • Charged melee attacks are only good for breaking doors or sneak attacks as they slow you down
  • 2 Liquid Bread can be turned into 1 Solid Bread. Solid Bread instantly heals 30 HP, and doesn't give you the Food Coma (still gives the Stuffed status though). Recipe found in CA-1. [Mentioned by adi]
  • Shower curtains may hide anything that can spawn in that particular cooler.
  • Initiating a reload will instantly reload the gun, but you cannot use it before a set time has expired. However, you can change weapon and start another reload before the timer has expired so you don't have to reload every single weapon slowly.
  • A Cooler's floor layout goes as follows: 3 floors with (usually) bad booze at the end, 3 floors with good booze at the end, Administrators Office, 3 floors and Cryochambers (unless previously reached)
  • DEBUNKED: You might encounter graffiti depicting an exit sign and the exit will be in that general direction [Mentioned by Queso Enema]
  • Sneaking is important, but running saves precious time
  • Memorize the different warning sounds. Most importanly the sound of suicide bombers.
  • Remember that the HUNTER always spawns at the entrance
  • Use the enviroment. Traps, acid pools and in-fighting can save you ammo and health. If an enemy has spotted you, he/she will follow you and pay no attention to traps and especially acid pools make short work of any human walking across. They, however, heal radiated individuals.
  • [Mentioned by Mr. Podunkian] The main path that leads to the floor exit is never behind a locked door. If you're opening a locked door, you're straying off the main path. If you start seeing enemies with superlatives, like "Tough ______" or "Kitted-out _______" you are also not heading towards the exit. (These monsters do just spawn regularly in the Courier run, but it's much harder to get lost on those.)
  • HAIR MAGAZINEs are alaways found in dressers near beds and give customisation options for NPCs as well as the Waster.
  • When walking through corridors, bear traps and mines will always be placed in the middle, so hugging the wall help avoiding accidental waste of health.
  • The computer throughout the Coolers have a chance of having '[Attachment]' in the title and reading these will grant you a crafting recipe. [Mentioned by Slidius]
  • Never jump over glass. It will alert enemies when walking over, but jumping on it is hazardous to your health.
  • Don't be afraid to bring colored items, such as the Ocelot, with you. Even if you die, they can be purchased from the 'Lost and Found' shop in Ony
  • If Mutamutts (the dogs) gets exposed to too much radiation (the goo piles) they will mutate into stronger 'mothers' that spawn multiple seeking puppies.
  • You need 6 in the Tinker skill to get ammo from traps (Cooler armor gives this), but it can still be disarmed by punching, shooting or throwing something at it. Just be careful, as it might flip and shoot you. Be extra careful around the Ratatat Trap, as it shoot a lot of bullets each dealing somewhere around 10-14 damage depending on armor and where it hits you. [Mentioned by Slidius]
  • Plasma and automatic weapons should be avoided when trying to sneak, as the plasma travels too slow to get the attack bonus and it might hit you (with the bonus) while automatic weapons will likely miss from a long distance.
  • The Sneak skill only affects your noise when not crouching as crouching effectively makes you silent. So if you crouch a lot it is not as important as if you never do.
  • The DiscJoy does not make you less stealthy.
Tips on specific Coolers
Cooler CA-1
  • Overun by raiders
  • Floor 1: Mostly raider runts with pistols such as Die Pistole and Niner
  • Floor 2: Mostly melee raiders, so ammo is more rare
  • Floor 3: Range and melee raiders now with DUZIs (submachineguns)
  • Remaining floors: Increasingly grow in numbers
  • Boss: S.O.B Purifier Starr - Uses the wall-bouncing revolver Ocelot. 200 health, so bring ammo.
  • Rich on meds
  • Collectable crafting recipes: Solid Bread [Mentioned by Simon] Chowitzer [Mentioned by TheAncientOne]
Cooler CA-2
  • Overun by robots and Chauvez and ocassional S.O.Bs
  • Boss: Chauvez in a Dreadbot (tank). Stock up on ammo, as it has 200 health. Shoot in gastanks on the back of the tank if possible for extra damage.
  • Meds are scarce, but food is plenty (Robots may drop Junkfood!)
Cooler CA-3
  • Overun by Junkdogs
  • Boss: Master Y along with his assistent. He wields a Cutana and will charge like the Saurabi. Has 200 health. Take out the assistent first, as she wields a Alianator and only has 80 health. If you keep your eyes on Master Y and dodge, the fight is trivial.
  • Blue barrels might be encounted through the cooler. They freeze nearby living things when exploded.
  • Collectable crafting recipes: Chick-Chick Boom (grenade launcher), Master Blaster (laser gun), SWOLE (+HIT drug)
Cooler CA-4
  • Overun by BEEZ
  • Yellow barrels might be encounted through the cooler. They drop acid goo when exploded.
  • 'FIsh' can be found here. His severed head increases ammo drops. (He is a reference to a character of the same name from Nuclear Throne. "Like Kevin Costner".)
  • Some BEEZ are accompanied by domisticated mutants (except Rottys and Spewmen).
  • BEEZ prior to the administrator's office will carry Emma Grands while they will have Klashs afterwards.
  • Boss: Queen B, two BEEZ and a pet Radcoon. The fight can be avoided through conversation
Cooler CA-5
  • Overun by every type of enemy met in prior coolers.
  • All three types of barrels can be found.
  • Collectable crafting recipes: Pootato Masher (aggro grenade)
  • Boss: The Head Skellie, John Sid, and a Purifier. None of them will fight you and outcome is determined by conversation choices
Taking down a Purifier
So, you have decided to take on that big bad hunter of yours?
First, I would advice you against it. It is simply too much of a risk.
However, if you still want to do it - for fun or out of necessity - here are a few pointers and good ideas on how to do it. Note, however, that a new one will take his place on the next floor.

  • A simple advice is that if you see any type of staircase that you descend and get the Purifier to come at you from top, you can effectively sit near the top of the staircase so that you can shoot his head while he cannot shoot you due to the staircase acting as cover.
  • Traps are your friends! Trip Hazards should be placed around every available corner and combine them with other traps for even greater effect. My favourites include placing them next to barrels or in front of shattered glass (as the impact damage is great). But goo, bear traps and radios work nicely as well to bite away his health without any direct contact. The Sixdeen (M16) is pretty good for sending him flying too.
  • Pay attention to his ammunition. He will - like every gun-wielding NPC - eventually have to reload and this is your chance to get in some hits or escape to a better location.
  • Sneak attack him as much as possible. After eluding him for some time, he will remark 'lost sight of target' and that is your cue to hit with something big. The sneak attack bonus is short-lived, so you should attack with whatever highest singlehit gun you have. My personal favourite is Grand Emma (the Garand) that can do above 100 dmg if the proper clothes is worn and its aim is great.
  • Unlike most enemies he will still shoot at you even if you have launched him into the air, so be careful.
  • Be sure to use healing items during the fight as you do not want to be caught with low health and cooldowns on your items. But mind the food coma of Junkfood as it will slow you down and make you and easy target.

Things to be noted
  • The game sometimes experience graphical bugs, but a simple restart usually solves the issues
  • Selling Scalps softlocks the game [Credits to Nazis Compare Trump To Jesus]
  • Entering Cooler CA-1 immediately after defeating the boss may break the game, so instead simply leave in your car and return later if you want [Mentioned by Mr. Podunkian]
  • If choosing to fight Slab, be careful that he does not shoot Di-ck as the game will often save inside this building and Di-ck (along with his special little friend) might be lost forever.
  • Looking for the Skullies? Contact Buddy (the dog/mutt) in Ony.
  • If you can't progress due to bad equipment or simply want a boost after dying, you can kill the courier behind the desk in Ony and loot him as he will respawn the next time you die [Mentioned by Simon, but have not personally confirmed it]
  • You can savescum by using Alt + F4 after death, as the game won't save until after telling you about your death. I suggest you don't, as it takes most of the challenge out of the game [Mentioned by zzappe®]
  • Notice how every song has game revelance. 'Honey' = BEEZ | 'Cry Baby' = hard game so therefore you cry | 'I just can't say no' + 'It Feels Good' = Booze addiction | 'Supernova' = Junkdogs/coolers | 'One More Life' = you get another life when you die.
  • This game is awesome

The second boss can just be killed by three or so grenades, the fight's over in less than 3 seconds. No need to stock up on lots of ammo

@Tombot there is a problem with going for the early booze in the first three levels, i always go at least six levels down so there is some benefit, 'splosive sidecar, only hurts you
Weakness Whiskey: reduces max HP (can be drunk 100 times)
Bruised Brandy: Take 10% from melee attacks (Can be drunk 5 times)
Slow Mojito: Reduce speed by 10% (5 times)
etc. only the light lager is good in my opinion, i need the speed. otherwise every single early one is bad unless you get some luck behind a locked door and get a floor 6 tier booze

I somewhat discovered that in CA-2 I've found the recipe of Master Blaster and Chick-Chick Boom. I haven't explored CA-3 yet so...

I found a recipe in CA-1 called Chowitzer. It is made using 3 junk food, renders you immobile for 10 seconds, +10 HIT for 10 sec, and stuffed for 10 seconds.
I found it attached to an email talking about pizza!

I'm not exactly a master of the game, but normally If I see an awesome bottle-o-booze whithin the first three levels, I go for it. Its no real problem replaying from that early in the cooler and the extra benefits the hangovers give you can really add up.

I'll add the usefull tip, adi. I couldn't make it myself last time I checked, but it might have been added since then. Will check soon.

I've recently discovered a pretty tip worthy thing - If you find any Liquid Bread (it can be commonly found in Cooler Boxes), don't use it unless in a critical situation. Instead, take it home - you can use the kitchen to turn 2 Liquid Breads into 1 Solid Bread. Solid Bread instantly heals 30 HP, and doesn't give you the Food Coma (still gives the Stuffed status though), making it an extremely great healing item. It can stack up to 5, just like every medical item. I'm just unsure whether you get the recipe from one of the computers in the Cooler or if it's available straight away from the start (can anyone give confirmation on that?)
