Basic Game Overview & What to Expect
This is an 'idle' game developed by Hyper Hippo based on JaGex' RuneScape an MMORPG.

THIS GUIDE IS ACCURATE AS OF BUILD: 0.1.1 AND IS BEING UPDATED
Current Game Version 0.1.2

What to Expect in the build (dev 0.1.2)
Training Skills has been overhauled and been replaced with a similar system to runescape. While your character is doing said skill you will gain "exp" indicated by a yellow bar below the skill. Quests now award citizens for Town Tiles which will help assist in the exponential costs to train citizens. While we are updating the guide feel free to let us know if we have missed anything!

BE AWARE OF BUGS AND TRY TO AVOID INTERACTING WITH THEM WHEN THEY APPEAR IF YOU DON'T WANT TO GET STUCK/HAVE TO RESET YOUR GAME.

If you are a long time RuneScape player you will get to see some really iconic characters saying some not-so-canon things. If you've never played RuneScape before you're going to have some quite interesting characters that might be hard to wrap your head around.

Blue and Red Anima (currency)
Blue Anima
Red Anima

Blue Anima
Blue Anima is the first of two currency types used in RS:IA. Blue Anima is used to level your Trade Skills and train citizens to do skills on Town Tiles. Once a citizen is trailed in a skill they will stay on the Town Tile permanently and help generate extra Blue Anima. Each Trade Skill has their own unique bonus per citizen helping on a Town Tile, you could previously find this number under the Skills tab. The Skills Tab is where you level up your characters own skills.

Red Anima
Red Anima is the second currency of the two currency types in RS:IA. Red Anima, like Blue Anima, is used to level up your characters skills. Differently Red Anima is used for levelling Combat Skills. The speed at which you gain Red Anima is drastically lower than of the abundant Blue Anima. You are required to spend Blue Anima to assign citizens to Combat Skill Tiles. You also receive some Red Anima after completing each dungeon wave.

You can view your Blue and Red Anima per second in each city. By clicking on the map icon and choosing the city you wish to see your gain rate.

Blue Anima Farming
Currently no known good farming spots since the game just patched. Please let us know if you have any builds/suggestions.

Red Anima Farming
Currently no known good farming spots since the game just patched. Please let us know if you have any builds/suggestions.
Trade Skills List
What are Trade Skills?
Trade Skills are used to improve Blue Anima gain from Town Tiles. Levelling your Trade Skills can reduce the cost to train citizens and increase the speed in which citizens work at the Town Tiles. Having your character active on a Town Tile will train the respective skill as indicated by the yellow bar under the skill in the Skill Progress tab.

Above: Cooking is over level 5, giving the player a bonus to the skill. View this in the All Skills tab.

Once this yellow bar is filled you are required to click on the skill to level it up this action is not automated. When offline you will continue to gain experience towards a level up. You can spend Blue Anima to level a skill instead if you wish and the cost will be offset by how much experience you currently have in the skill. After you reset your world you can also quick complete quests if your Trade Skills are a certain level, this is explained more in the Threads of Time section.

Above: Fishing has enough exp to level by clicking the tile, Cooking is only about half way to level 1.

Combat Skills List
What are Combat Skills?
Combat Skills are used when attacking enemies during dungeon crawling in RS:IA. Before entering a dungeon you will be presented with a screen that will allow you to select up to 3 active Combat Skills. Note that you are not locked into using these skills for the entire duration of the dungeon and they can be swapped at will using the Select Skill button. When selecting a Combat Skill at the dungeon start screen you can identify each of the 3 different types quickly by their background colour. RED being Offensive, GREEN being Defensive and finally PURPLE being Supportive. You can level your Combat Skill abilities with Red Anima in the skills tab. You gain EXP in Combat Skills when training on Town Tiles and attacking enemies in dungeons.

The Thieving Skill
The Thieving Combat Skill allows the user to steal an item from an enemy. If you plan on stealing items from boss monsters be sure to have researched their weaknesses and a viable strategy to wait them out while you try and steal from them. You can get unlucky so just be patient and keep trying. This skill can be combined with the Barrage Combat Ability to mass-steal items off many different opponents in a dungeon in a short period of time. For more information on what items come from what monsters see the item guide section.
Combat Skill Abilities
What are Combat Skill Abilities?
Combat Skill Abilities will appear instead of Trade Skill Abilities when you enter a dungeon. These are similar to Trade Skill abilities but they unlock with your Combat Skill Total Level instead. These abilities are much like the Trade Skill Abilities we discussed earlier but are for combat instead of anima generation. These will give you an edge in combat so use them to finish dungeons faster.

Basic Combat Guide
How do Combat Skills work?
All Combat Skills have a unique 'cooldown' between uses or more accurately a 'charge up time'.
This means that some Combat Skills will have more downtime than others so choose wisely! Combat Skills also have a "output" which can vary depending on skill from damage, healing or percentage chances. In patch 0.1.1 the developers introduced the "Auto" function allowing the automatic activation of combat abilities greatly improving the dungeon experience.

Above: Agility, Attack, Constitution in the Skill Select Menu.
The top number indicates the skills 'output' and the bottom is 'cooldown' time in seconds.

Enemies have a type which they are associated; Melee, ranged or mage. When dealing with all enemies the combat triangle effects the damage you do. This is explained in more depth below but here is a small reference image you can use.

Dealing with Enemies
In battles you will see your enemy will have a 'charge up' similar to your abilities in the form of a red bar just above your skills. The output/damage they do is listed on the right hand side of this bar generally the damage will vary depending on the speed of the attack. Faster attacks do lower damage while slower attacks do higher damage.

Basic Combat Layout
For most battles you will want to have Melee as your first choice then mage or ranged as your second then finally prayer or another support skill such as summoning or strength. Ranged seems quite under powered as far as DPS currently goes, where as Melee is a bit of an overpowered middle ground. Using the combat triangle Magic can be very very powerful.
Dungeon and Monster Guide
How do Dungeons work?
Dungeons in RS:IA have a different interface to the rest of the game. These areas are where your Combat Skills and Abilities shine most allowing you to defeat waves of monsters. You can see your current wave at the top right of the screen next to the maximum current waves available. You can eventually unlock more waves in dungeons by completing quests and levelling Dungeoneering. You can also unlock new boss monsters with Slayer so be sure to revisit old dungeons when you're a higher level to be sure you've encountered everything.

Quests Overview
What are quests and what do they do?
Quests in RS:IA will help you progress through the game from town to town and give you new Trade and Combat Skills. You will be instructed during the tutorial about quests. The quest maker is a blue exclamation point on a skilling plot in a town and the completed quest marker is a green tick on the same plot you accepted the quest from.

In patch 0.1.0 the devs added new options for dialogue. This is good because after resetting the world you can choose different chat responses. When resetting the world you will unlock new quests which are required to continue the game and unlock new towns. The old dialogue is stored under the "Wonder" option while all the new ones are labelled appropriately.

You can eventually quick complete quests, this is explained more in the "Threads of Time" section.

Above: You now select your desired response before the quest accepted screen in Dev 0.1.1.

Threads of Time - Prestige System
What are Threads of Time?
Threads of Time are gained when the player uses the "Reset the World" button. The amount of Threads you gain are tied to the total amount of citizens you've trained on all Town Tiles this run. Resetting the world will remove all of your Blue Anima, Red Anima, Trained Citizens and Items not protected by the God Quests. Althought you lose all of the aformented things your character will retain all your gained skill levels. Due to this it is advised to spend as much of your resources as you can before you 'Reset the World'.

Above: Screenshot of the Threads of Time menu.

After the Reset
Resetting the world allows you to unlock new quests, god quests and the "Quick Complete" option for previously completed quests. All quests have a required trade or combat skill level to access the quick complete function varying quest to quest. This option will only appear if you have completed the same quest previously. After completing the quest "What is Sewn" you spend threads of time to unlock additional god quest lines. This allows you to progress through the God Quest chapters and become even more powerful.

Specifics to Gaining Threads
Every 200 citizens = 1 thread. But any threads previously attained count against you. So say you get 400 citizens the first run for a total of 2 threads, reach the mountain and complete the quest (which also gives 1 thread to keep from running into a scenario where the player makes it to the mountain without any threads earned); you would start the next run with 3 threads (2 that count against you and a freebie). This means your next thread will be at 600 citizens purchased during the run since the first 400 don't count this time around.

Each thread is effectively 1.5% bonus anima. And contrary to popular belief, red anima receives this bonus as well. The display on production will trunicate off any decimals but the values held in game will still collect up your fractional production.

Threads of Time Equation
Bonus Anima per Thread
A = (B*C)*(1+(0.015*T)) A = anima B = base value of a particular skill C = citizens (add 1 if you have this build selected. selecting a build in town effectively makes the game think it's ahead an extra citizen) T = threads

Threads Gained Per Run
R = (C-((T-1)*200))/200 R = threads gained after reset T = threads currently in hand C = total citizens purchased this run

FAQ
Here I will attempt to answer questions that I see posted frequently. You can find the official FAQ here.

I found a bug! Where do I report it?
Go onto the steam community page for RS:IA and then post in the stickied thread labelled "The Bad". Alternatively click here. This is where all concerns regarding the game can be discussed and the developer reads them.

Sometimes the Town Tiles have more/less Anima output! Why?
Sometimes after re-launching the game bonuses from equipment will not longer have any effect. To get the affects again make sure to re-equip all items every time you launch the game. Also there is currently an issue where equipping items in a certain order will cause the Anima rates to be different.

I CAN'T RESET! HELP!
Try rebooting your game first if you have any issues as it may resolve the problem. Otherwise make sure you've gained more citizens in your towns than your last run of the game. Threads are not in any way tied to quest completion. They are tied to citizen purchases ONLY. If you get stuck, go buy more citizens. See Threads of Timne section for more details.

Do I gain Anima from towns I am not currently working in?
Yes, regardless of your characters position or online/offline status all citizens will continue to work on their assigned skills. This means in dungeons, other towns, quest screens, offline you will gain the Anima per second rating that is stated on the map screen no matter what.

Something in your guide is wrong/I want to help!
I am looking for people to help collaborate on the guide so it can be completed faster. If anyone is willing to help with information gathering and number crunching please let me know as its quite a lengthy process to check all the information each time the game updates. Post in the comments below or add me on steam and express interest. You will be credited for your help!

Great guide, so concise and user friendly. Could you add a note on the threads of time about the two threads it costs for the second part of the first chapter. So glad I found a comment mentioning it on the game bug comments, was seriously thinking my game was broke and I had stopped earning threads. And also a comment on equipment that to earn a mob's second lootable item you need to loot the same mob twice. tyvm:steamhappy:

So something I want to know. When you spend threds for god quests do you still get the bouns for having them? Because I know the number of people you need does not reset back to how many was used.
