AA missiles units are tech 2 that you have to unlock to build and it have mutipurpose role. Here are key points to get to know about: Sensors, ability, damage and the advantages they have.

Sensors range
Both Missile ship, battery, LAV, and Scanner have the same sensors range. The AA armor and hp give it more survivabilty to take alot of damage to scout enemy areas. With the barrage and mortar ability it can defend itself against mutiple units by heavy damage.
Ability range
The ability for both have different use but both can shoot pass hills and mountians acting like small artillery. Missile ship barrage needs to fire all 6 shots to hit the area for full damage and have friendly fire damage. Missile battery mortar is 1 shot instant damage with a big AOE with little friendly fire damage.
Ability damage
The damage for both abilities have different damage scales VS Armor and shots. The missile ship barrage missile does 150 damage per-misslie but VS armor points the damage goes down -1 for every +1 point of armor. The missile battery does 450 damage but VS armor points the damage goes down -20 for every +1 point of armor. Missile ship is good against all armor units but needs all shots to hit while missile battery is good only against light to medium armor units with the instant damage.
