Combat
1) - When targeting mode is active (i.e. you are locked onto a Titan), pressing LB will switch the titan you are locked on to.

This allows you quickly acquire a different target without disengaging your lock and then running around and fussing with the camera trying to get it to lock onto the desired titan. Very helpful when you need to take down a specific titan quickly.

If there are no other titans nearby, this does nothing.

2) - When targeting mode is active, pressing UP will switch the targeted body part to one closer to the nape... usually.

This happens even if the nape is lower than the other body parts as is sometimes the case with certain titan movements and approach angles.

Pressing UP 3x will almost always target the nape regardless of what part you were targeting or what orientation the titan is in. This helps a lot for the crawling titans and/or the ones that faceplant themselves.

3) - Characters with chain attacks can chain attacks from one titan to another, even/especially after subjugations.

Two ways to do this. If you subjugate a titan, quickly press RB to lock on a nearby titan and press Y to continue your attack.

If you don't subjugate a titan but want to switch targets anyway, press LB to switch targets.

You can do something similar and chain attacks between body parts even if you don't sever any parts. To do this, you input directional commands between attack inputs.

4) - You can combo tips 2 and 3 to dispatch several titans in quick succession.

The button sequence for three titans (2 chain attacks) looks like this:

Y -> RB -> UP -> UP -> Y -> RB -> UP -> UP -> Y

The two UP inputs usually guarantee that you hit the nape of the titan. You need to input these fairly quickly or you'll drop your chain.

Avoid wasting gas on boosting into attacks.

Later in the Survey Missions and in True Attack Mode, gas runs out faster. If you have a decent reel speed and a reasonable anchor distance, you can get max damage without boosting. When reeling, your character will go through two "woosh" events. If you get both of these "whooshes", you'll be at max speed/damage.

Aerial Replacement Does Loads of Damage!

If you have something targeted when you replace your blades, they'll be thrown toward the target with some pretty impressive tracking. The damage is substantial. I think each blade does approximately one attack's worth of damage so you can often 1-shot a even a large titan with just a blade replacement. I'm not sure what the range is but it is quite far - near the limits of anchor range. I'll often use this as an opener when coming up on a group of titans.

You can save people from SOS states in various ways.

Aside from killing the offending titan, bombs work as well as cutting off any part. One thing you can do if the situation is totally out of control is to detonate both kind of bombs. This covers you in case you don't have time to figure out the vulnerability of the important titan.

There is an icon that indicates that a titan is "attacking" you.

It looks like a little red-bordered-eye that appears by the titan's health bar (next to the sonic or flash icon that indicates the titan's vulnerability). Possibly useful for characters like Mikasa or Conny whose damage depends on whether or not they are being attacked.

Flash Bombs and Sonic Bombs...

Flash bombs seem to require you to be mostly in front of a Titan. Sonic bombs will work even if you're behind the titan. This makes sense given how the bombs are supposed to work.
Equipment/Loadouts
1) Having a high anchor range is helpful in open/prairie levels where anchor points are scarce.

This lets you attach to titans that are quite far away and cover the distance quickly and efficiently, but I think it also lets ODM gear attach to structures from farther away.

2) If you have a Blade Length of 100 or more, you can dispatch small and medium titans from the front.

Timing has to be good but it can be done consistently. The 100 blade is just long enough that it passes through the face/neck and hits the nape. This is much easier to do with the longer blades

3) Durability is less important than being able to 1-hit most titans,

This is particularly true on characters that do not have Chain Attack. IMO, it's worth sacrificing durability for the ability to remove a body part or subjugate in 1 hit.

4) Fortify makes it almost impossible to "waste" upgrades.

Because of the Fortify mechanic, you don't really ever waste upgrades if you decide to switch weapons. Example: If you have a Rapier fortified to +80 and you decide you hate it and want to use King Tiger Zero, use the Rapier as one of the ingredients to fortify KTZ. You'll end up with a KTZ at approximately +80. So the value of all the materials and funds that went into fortifying the rapier are preserved.
Tactics & Other
To get Dire Subjugations to appear.

The Requirements are slightly different for different levels. They can be found in the Pause Menu screen under "Special Missions".

Generally, you have to be toward the end of a mission and be on track for S-rank. This means you must complete all side -missions and kill a lot of titans - usually 40 but sometimes 20 or less. Dire Subjugation targets have "end game" health so they may be practically impossible to defeat early in the campaign even if you can S-rank the level and get them to appear.

****SPOILERS BELOW****

Use Flash/Sonic Bombs to interrupt annoying Bizarre Titan moves such as charges and leaps that the Female and Armored Titans perform.

Because the Molotov Cocktails are (effectively) required for fighting the Beast Titan, a lot of Logisticians usually spawn near him. Try to fill up on these before you engage him.

Good tips.

Here's another: when you're travelling forward, time your next anchor use right before you touch the ground (or a roof). For some reason this propells you forward harder than normal.

Also, one thing I found useful to learn when I was a noob was to catapult myself towards a good position near a titan I want to kill and NOT combat mode or anchor on the approach, to wait until I'm exactly where I want to be. This avoids all sorts of unwanted Titan reactions, and looks like a cool near-instant kill if I instantly boost and attack right after anchoring. (The guide's advice not to boost no longer applies if you're stimmed up on the Battle Signal).

The strategy for fighting the beast titan if you need to kill it quickly is to first fire bomb the nape. This will put him in a rage state. This always happens so best to get it out of the way first. In this state, he covers his nape with his hands and stands still for a decent time. Next, burn and take out the left arm. The reason is because he uses the right arm to cover himself first, and if you take too long taking out the left after the right, the right can regenerate. After taking out the left arm, take out the right, then the nape. Use fire bombs for nape if lazy. Sometimes if you take too long, he'll go absolutely nuts and jump around and beat up everything around him. Not sure if it's interruptible with the sonic bomb.

You can take out "armored" titans such as the bizarre and strong abnormal titans in seconds by using a flash/sonic bomb and either fire bombing or going crazy with the slicing at their nape. The flash/sonic bombs lower their guards for a few seconds, bypassing armor. Helpful for those speed farms. Or if you're having trouble with them. Fastest map with a bizarre titan I've completed so far was 13 seconds.

As Mikasa/Sasha, it's often a good way to attack to target a limb with resources first, then chain attack the nape just once. This shoots you way over the target, and at perfect location to attach a line at some 30-ish meters distance, after which you can simply roll in for the finish. Even on true attack mode high up in the difficulty (moreso with mikasa than sasha).

However, depending on the targetted limb, you might need to boost in order to get the limb before you get grabbed, on the first attack. Once a limb is cut off, every titan is stunned around two seconds, usually right at the moment the second attack rolls in this way.

Dire Subjugations - you need to finish all "Specia missions" that you can track from the pause menu"
While in Survey they are indeed based on killing and finishing all side-missions, in story mode, you need to do a littile more than that, such as team up with specific characters, destroy barricades and other mission unique aspects to be used.

Finally someone says it, i don't like watching others constantly boost while attacking when their reel speed is sufficient.

(I'm looking at you Jacksepticeye.)
