I confirm the difference: In the "peaceful" version of the game, we can follow your guide without problems :) But Challenging, we might need another walkthrough (or I'm very bad, haha).

At the very beginning, there is a choice between "calm" or "challenging" if I recall. (These are not the exact words)
Maybe that's the difference?
Anyway, I'll try again. I got 2-2 after many tries but I needed to be focus without letting my little boys rest. Crossed fingers.

Heyho. I dont know if its going slower then normal =D. Simply installed the game and played. ^^ No special settings.

However, why is the time going so slow on your side? I'm doing the same thing but I feel like my time is going twice faster than yours... It's a bit annoying because I can't finish levels in Gold then... any idea?
(I'm stuck for the level 2-3...)
