Purpose of this guide.
This guide is made to help those with a GSYNC monitor above 60FPS+. Those suffering from a 60FPS cap, even with V-SYNC off both, in-game and in the Nvidia control panel will get their fix in here.

The fix
As series of steps. Note, this was tried while in OpenGL 4.5. I am not sure if this works with Vulkan.

  • 1.- Go to your steam library.

  • 2.- Located doom, then right click on it and from the pull-down menu click on properties.

  • 3.- Click under "Set Launch Options"

  • 4.- Copy and paste this into the blank bar:
    +com_skipIntroVideo 1 +vt_MaxPPF 128 +vt_pageImageSizeVmtr "16384" +vt_pageImageSizeVmtrUnique 16384 +r_displayRefresh 240

Note: as far as I know, doom max framerate is 200fps. With a 240hz asus monitor, I am unable to go beyond 200fps. Even while putting more than 200fps on the displayRefresh.

Note 2: You can change the +r_displayRefresh value to whatever you want. If you have a 120, 144 or 165, 200 monitor just change the value if you need to do so.

  • 5.- Click "Save" and open DOOM.

  • 6.- You should now have 60FPS+ (120, 144, 165 or your monitor cap, 200max) with GSYNC on.

If that does not work. I am sorry to not be able to help, but I am literally out of ideas. To find this fix, it took me around two hours of research. Digging through forums that had no idea on how to uncap the game, until I found a Nvidia forum. A forum which I will credit in the next section. Thank you.

Thank you so much for sharing this I had no idea. I apologize for the misinformation [it is due to my ignorance sorry]. At the time this helped me to fix my issue back in 2017 or so and just wanted to share for others in the same boat. But I thank you deeply for sharing these information since it may help future guide readers. I also learned something new while reading your reply. Thank you so much and have a nice day :]

+vt_pageImageSizeVmtr "16384" also has nothing to do with refresh

Posting guides but not doing their homework.... typical steam trash...

Based on the search results, here’s a summary of the information related to setting vt_MaxPPF to 128 in Steam Doom:

Initially, it was possible to set vt_MaxPPF to 128 in idTech 5-based games like Rage and Wolfenstein, but not in Doom (2016).
Some users reported that even with high-end hardware, they couldn’t increase vt_MaxPPF beyond 64.
A Reddit user suggested that idTech 6, used in Doom (2016), doesn’t need higher vt_MaxPPF settings, as they didn’t observe noticeable texture pop-in on various systems.
A Steam Community guide (now removed due to violating Steam guidelines) mentioned setting vt_MaxPPF to 16 or 128, but it’s unclear if this was tested or confirmed to work.

Does this remove the 60FPS cap during scripted events? (playable "cinematics")

or just disable v-sync and activate g-sync from the nvidia control panel, and that's it... no need to delete anything or do other stuff (keep in mind that you'r monitor has to gave at least 200hz and be gsync compatible in order for this to work

Still works?

You should tell people that G-Sync doesn't work outside their refresh rate.

For those who don't have G-Sync and still want to use V-Sync without mouse lag.

Just change your max pre-rendered frames to 1 in Nvidia's control panel and use Rivatuner with an fps cap that is minus 1 your refresh rate, change V-Sync to Triple Buffer in the GPU Panel and either use V-Sync in game or in the GPU Panel, it'll work just fine for either OpenGL or Vulkan.

Doing any or all of these commands causes DOOM to run in the background, so I have to use task manager to close it. Any advice?
