I've had a lot of time to reflect over the past few years, and it's clear to me that the image of Sanic I've fostered has been misguided at best. I'd like to sincerely apologize to those of you who knew his nature more deeply than I, and I hope that this reimagination will portray him as he should always have been known.

And if you disagree, use `npc_sanic_friendly 0`. But you wouldn't do that. That would be terrible.

Additions
  • Sanic can kick down doors!
    • This is controlled by npc_sanic_smash_props, which also controls prop breaking.

Changes
  • Tweaked punch force to be a little more consistent, especially when hitting players.
  • Sanic will teleport back onto the map's navmesh if he falls off of it. This handles cases where Sanic could fall out of the map, or into an area that navgen skipped.

Fixes
  • Fixed an edge case where warping forward on a path wouldn't work.
  • Fixed a case where Sanic could warp out of the map.
  • Fixed hit sounds not working for some physics materials.

SANIC HD

Harvesting the raw energy of the source files (and with the help* of my friend Cheesybacon), Sanic has come to life in THREE WHOLE DIMENSIONS.

You can control this with npc_sanic_hd_update 0/1 (default 1).

  • Added a new configuration variable to disable jumping.
    • npc_sanic_allow_jump 0/1 (default 1)
  • Added a new console command npc_sanic_learn to allow map learning on dedicated servers.

Changes
  • Reworked icon to conform to Garry's Mod workshop standards (2016/01/19).
  • Sanic no longer visually tilts at extreme angles or lies flat when viewed from above.
  • Map learning time has been massively reduced.

Fixes
  • Certain spotlights and other objects will no longer render overtop of Sanic.
  • Hiding places will no longer be ignored on certain maps.
  • Map learning shouldn't miss large sections of maps with spawn teleporters anymore.
  • Sanic should no longer appear and disappear at the edges of your view.
