A true mixture of your former gel maps ^^
Too bad I found out a little late about the upper room beneath the entrance (behind the glass), this one clearly makes things easier ;D
Still feels a bit on the exploit side. While I was in the middle of it I thought I had some slight alternatives, e.g. the mid air portal shot canticle mentioned.
It definitely was a marathon. Thumbs up

It is *barely* possible to do the one jump without blue gel. Also I did not see the portalable surfaces behind the grating at first so I just did a bunny hop to get to the blue gel. The timer is yet again lenient enough to bhop to the portal and still make it.

ah, another one of your "connect the timer button to the exit with speed gel" puzzles. That makes 3 now, if I'm counting correctly. Good fun!

Yooooo it's the Cave rave

WOW that rocked my brain for a good couple minutes! A whopping 7 gel jumps between the beginning and end, honestly made me wonder for a while where I was supposed to charge the last jump, but it chamber truly lives up to its name. Very creative and especially well done! There were some great aesthetic touches as well :)

Thank you Teo :D so glad you liked it!

Absolutely genius design throughout

A++

Clever gel map design!
Sloi 21 Jan, 2021 @ 2:40pm
Excellent map, as usual!

Not sure why some folks are saying it's a long/complicated setup: compared to "Skyranger", the setup for this one might as well serve as a tutorial map. ;-)

Still, a lot of fun to prepare and execute. Well done!
Demon Arisen  [author] 28 Nov, 2020 @ 3:02pm
@canticle Yep, that's correct! Nice work :) Glad you enjoyed it!
canticle 28 Nov, 2020 @ 2:21pm
Oh my gosh! Is the intended solution to fling over but NOT bounce on the pad, THEN use the gelled pad to jump to the raised U-shaped area, portal on the raised portalable surface and then go through?! If so, that is sooooo much easier than what I did my first time through. You didn't give yourself enough credit....that is a "more cleverer" way. Oh, and on a second playing, there was another element I remembered liking... When initially going to the jump gel button, I though sure that the area beneath the dropper was too far away from the wall to use a runway and then bounce over the pit to the button. So cool when I found I was wrong and it worked like a charm.
canticle 28 Nov, 2020 @ 1:41pm
I was wondering...execution based stuff isn't one of your go-to design elements. Guess I was fooled by how, if you failed, you just took another run at it (literally). But dang it, now that you said there is a "cleverer" way, now I'll have to go back and see if I can find it. Maybe my way can be the "more clever" way?:steamhappy:
Demon Arisen  [author] 28 Nov, 2020 @ 5:16am
@canticle Always a pleasure to read your comments! :) Not boring at all. Nice job on the solve -- portaling mid-fling is unintended I believe, there's a cleverer way...
canticle 27 Nov, 2020 @ 7:42pm
Probably kind of boring to read as I write "I liked this chamber too!!" Oh well, I did like it.. I was always was able to recognize some path forward, but that's OK...sometimes its good for my ego to finish a puzzle without having to sleep on it, or get it 90% but miss some small detail. Two things I especially liked were 1) the reuse of the pit area near the entrance--first using speed gel and then later changing it for jump gel and 2) preserving and reusing the various runways to carry out different actions. Took me quite a number of attempts to change the portal mid fling-jump (hope it was intended) so I could get back to the jump gel dispenser--but fortunately you made it so that one could just try again without having to backtrack and set things up again . Thought I'd run out of time when moving sooo slow at the end--great design to raise anxiety, without real danger.

With this test, I've completed your "best of" collection. I have to say, the maps were all great! I especially enjoyed Perplexed, Elide, Skyranger, Chrysotile, and Paradox. Not to mention the collab maps and how good they looked. Can't wait till Desolation comes out to see what you've come up with.
Andy T 7 Aug, 2020 @ 10:40pm
Positive: individual elements are good in their own, negative: way too long, but put together like this took nearly 2 hours, everything has to be overpainted, repainted, and overpainted again, one of the runway has too tight a tolerance I got bounced off, so good overall? Seems so to me, but less experienced would definitely down vote it.
Petutski 17 Apr, 2020 @ 7:57pm
Great map that really was a marathon! The final timer was just right. Thanks!
c4shurik 7 Feb, 2020 @ 9:06am
Boring!
Demon Arisen  [author] 15 Sep, 2019 @ 3:03pm
Glad you enjoyed it, IVO! I think the latter is a more common saying, and seems like more of a Cave Johnson thing to say than the former.
| \_/ () 15 Sep, 2019 @ 2:18pm
Well that was rather relaxingly enjoyable. No special idea or twisted combination of elements -
just a get-to-the-end-by-painting-wherever-you-can series of rooms - and I liked that.

Man, that rap is perfect, I want to see and hear it on video now.

Hey, question: did Cave wanted to say d *ск or a *s when Caroline censors him? I always thought it's the former but you've taken the latter in your rap.

understanding poems only through a translator,
played a "marathon", rap I will read later

Great puzzle. To favorites.

Yowza! Annudder good 'un from your workshop.
_galaxy 14 Jun, 2019 @ 10:59am
Dude, this is such a cool map! Like, I know how some people are going to have a LOT of trouble with this, for instance switching the orange to blue on the first part , so I wouldn't exactly classify it as hard. My favorite part was going to the blue gel room whilist on the part that has the water bridge with no fence and the button part. Never seen such a good gel only puzzle! Had a ton of fun on it. Good job
Spider_Dawg 7 Apr, 2019 @ 9:19am
@Demon Arisen Thanks for the names, added to list!
Demon Arisen  [author] 6 Apr, 2019 @ 4:07pm
@Spider_Dawg Congratulations! Here is your Aperture Science Metaphorical Medal: Bronze Edition! Enjoy!

Jokes aside, thank you so much for playing, and well done for getting through them all! Feel free to check out some of the older tests on my workshop if you like, although expect them to be a little less polished for obvious reasons. Fumbly is great, you should definitely also check out HankyMueller and HugoBDesigner too.
Spider_Dawg 6 Apr, 2019 @ 2:48pm
Nice, fun map. I have now solved all 25 of your "Best Of" collection. Now that is a marathon! I feel as if I deserve at least a bronze medal. Thank you so much for putting so much effort into creating clever puzzles. So many in the workshop are little more than obstacle courses that don't really require much thought (and still better than anything I could come up with), so it was great to find that there are actually great tests here. I'll continue playing yours, and have played most (all?) of Fumbly Bumbly's, and now have a list of about 8 other mappers to check out. Hopefully we'll never run out of great maps.

It's ya Boi, Cavey J Here - Man those lyrics are tight - I should try them sum time 😏

Nice map. It really was a Marathon, I thought it was going to keep going and going.

Glad to hear it! Yeah Swashbuckle, Fluid, and Skyranger were definitely big inspirations here, it's almost like Wheatley got those three puzzles and jammed 'em all together :D
K7 Avenger 1 Mar, 2019 @ 5:01pm
@Demon Arisen Also the bounce fling reminded me a lot of Swashbuckle :)
K7 Avenger 1 Mar, 2019 @ 5:00pm
@Demon Arisen I would say the difficulty was just right actually, very enjoyable but not too hard :)
Demon Arisen  [author] 1 Mar, 2019 @ 9:21am
@K7 Avenger Thanks so much, K7! Really glad you liked it so much. Yeah this one's a little bit easier than I was anticipating, so I'm not surprised you breezed through, but I'm pleased it was still enjoyable!
K7 Avenger 1 Mar, 2019 @ 8:14am
Fantastic level Demon, probably one of your best (gel) maps imo. I loved the back and forth switching between different areas where you can place speed gel, which is the trick to solving this puzzle. I'm not sure if I just got lucky with solving it pretty swiftly, or I am just familiar with your gel puzzles tricks. Even though areas had to be visited multiple times, it never felt tedious, which was good. Added to my favourites.
wildgoosespeeder 24 Feb, 2019 @ 11:25am
Forget lasers, funnels, and light bridges. I don't get why people rave over those test elements. Blue and/or orange gel puzzles are my favorite. This one is good.
Demon Arisen  [author] 17 Feb, 2019 @ 5:43pm
@Wulfensteinster Thanks very much! I'm sure you'll enjoy my other puzzles too :)
Wulfensteinster 17 Feb, 2019 @ 5:03pm
I don't care for most levels on here. Nothing seems to be a challenge and actually require any thinking...That level was FANTASTIC!

Thanks!

@quaternary Thanks q! Glad you enjoyed it. Yeah I like to think they're my speciality :P
@cburdett777 Thanks for playing, I'm pleased you liked it!
cburdett777 15 Feb, 2019 @ 8:25pm
Really lived up to it's name - a lot of back and forth in this test. Took a bit of thinking on my part. Good work!
quat 14 Feb, 2019 @ 8:54pm
This puzzle is pretty neat, which is a mod by Vazkii . You're really good at making these types of gel only tests.
Radio Mouth 14 Feb, 2019 @ 6:13pm
Great puzzle! Every Thursday, I play the most popular maps of the week and they're usually pretty terrible, but this one was refreshingly good for a change. Thank you!
Demon Arisen  [author] 14 Feb, 2019 @ 3:34pm
@SA_Zodia Thanks, but unfortunately there were more exploits than just the one you mentioned. I think this version is better anyway, regardless of unintended solutions.

@mangomaster Thanks for playing! :D
mangomaster 14 Feb, 2019 @ 2:48pm
This took me way longer than it should've lol
Great map, clever puzzles.

Also, congrats on 100 maps :)
SA_Zodia 14 Feb, 2019 @ 5:48am
The chamber was fine the way it was, the only thing that needed changing was the portalable panel by the exit that allowed for the use of both gels, still, great re-design.
gabet4 13 Feb, 2019 @ 9:46am
I just love these type of map
It make you think
Great job

Thanks peeps! Sounds like it's a huge improvement over the first version.
bullfrog 11 Feb, 2019 @ 10:26pm
Great puzzle and good fun. Good update which I don’t think changed the way I did it previously. Here’s how I did this version: intended solution ? The only move I was slightly unsure of is the portal shot at 6:48 in the video.
jandlml 11 Feb, 2019 @ 8:14pm
i did it right this time. what a fun gel map. i really enjoyed it!!:steamhappy:
