I'm really confused that apparently I've never played this map before (no rating, no comment), since it looks quite familiar and I was sure I'd played your whole workshop. Regardless, I've rectified that now. This was an elegant demonstration of a rather odd move. Thumbs up.

Excellent! Thank you

Yes the move required to solve the map is quite peculiar. It seems like a bug really. The puzzle took me longer because the move doesn't always work.
GABAGOOL 4 Mar, 2022 @ 2:36am
Fells more like an exploit lol
fredericmarile 14 Mar, 2021 @ 3:52am
If the move in question is using the cube to create a self-sustaining Thermal Discouragement Beam, which I'm pretty sure is what is meant by "bootstrapping" but I'm not confident enough to use it casually, it worked for me on the first try. I also did it by complete accident, so I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Either way, the final move was what stumped me for a while until I realized how silly I was being. That's one powerful cube. Very nice puzzle, I loved every step!

For some reason, I didn't realize I could use the second laser while standing on the button. I tried reverse portaling the original laser back though the portal with the box blocking the laser, and quickly portaling it onto the laser catcher to see what it would do, and realized that I actually did it.
SpielSatzFail 3 Oct, 2020 @ 11:06am
I came to the conclusion that there was no other way than bootstrapping the laser . Worked at fourth try. A little peculiar, as you call it, but I'm fine with it.
I'd rate this one on top of the easy range. You need some experience to have the initial idea(s) and you have to know where to place your cube :-)
Anyway, clever little map, thumbs up.

This really did make me go "This is like Voodoo". :steamhappy:
Thanks for the fun!

Not a huge fan of the concept, but since it's an experimental map it's fair enough. It does a good job at showcasing it.

Had no problem with getting to the exit. So, whatever problem is mentioned in the description did not happen when I was playing the map. Nice map for making you think.
stormsend 4 Sep, 2020 @ 2:24pm
Well done. It took me a few minutes to make the connection at first but I played through a second time and it worked much better. You built a very nice looking chamber to show off your concept. Keep on mapping.
SteemStream 30 Aug, 2020 @ 5:05pm
Maybe I had a bit of advanatage solving this map already knowing what needed to be done :) but nevertheless still had to think about when it was needed. A concise and simple way of showing off the quirky concept.
GrottoLova 23 Aug, 2020 @ 7:32am
I have no clue.
ShaggieIII 22 Aug, 2020 @ 2:18pm
Worked two out of three times for me. For what it's worth I think it's a valid move,
jeffrey epstein 21 Aug, 2020 @ 7:18pm
The strategy for this seems pretty deterministic, and I didn't encounter any inconsistency or pecularity in the moves I made to solve it. Overall, a very nice chamber!
EndOfPortal 21 Aug, 2020 @ 3:17pm
Very nice challenge. :SpRad_ThumbsUp:
quatrus 20 Aug, 2020 @ 7:34am
had a bit of difficulty hitting the catcher with the activated laser - had to move the portal around a bit to get it to hit. Another very challenging logic puzzle thanks for creating.
Spider_Dawg 19 Aug, 2020 @ 7:31pm
Fun, not too hard, but it did have me walking around scratching my head for a bit. Once I saw it, it worked first time so I'm not sure what you all mean. Thanks as always!
dcook 18 Aug, 2020 @ 7:07pm
nothing wrong with this at all.. got it on the first try no issues.. thanx for mapping.. :-)
lapicidas 18 Aug, 2020 @ 8:02am
At some point it becomes clear that the laser has to activate itself . Very good, logical move!

Aneonen 17 Aug, 2020 @ 10:49pm
I tried the solution, it didn't work, and then I assumed I was a dingus until I checked the description and tried it again. It really is a clever and excitingly precarious move when it works - it's always frustrating when the game fights back against these ideas.
bullfrog 17 Aug, 2020 @ 10:28pm
"Good "conceptual puzzle" which I stared at for about a minute before the light came on. It didn’t work first time, the first time I did it and I have no idea why, but it worked first time when I recorded the way I did it."

Thanks for playing, everyone! Glad you all enjoyed :p2cube:
jandlml 17 Aug, 2020 @ 8:44pm
i dont mind this concept at all.just havent seen it in a long time i had forgotten about it si i read some of the comments. the one about the map "spark" was all i needed. that map had me stuck for a month before i finally found the solution.
DeathWish808 17 Aug, 2020 @ 12:38pm
Ah, Playing with the glass there instantly made me realize I just did it backwards. So same, but conceptually different. I just played that map Libbybapa linked and yours is the same concept but much more reliable and not frustrating. Well done!
Teo 17 Aug, 2020 @ 11:50am
Definitely some supernatural shenanigans going on here :O This is a really elegant and concise way to show off this concept, great work!
Narkodes 17 Aug, 2020 @ 11:02am
I like it as concept map. I'm totally fine with the "1 frame"-laser bootstrapping, but if it would be part of a big, challenging map and without mentioning, I wouldn't consider it as intended solution.
Why has the exit door a connection?
jgaultney 17 Aug, 2020 @ 8:53am
Nice! Two rarely seen moves in one. "spark" and a new (to me) way of bootstrapping.
Libbybapa 17 Aug, 2020 @ 8:16am
I think the first map that I saw use that was this one: https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=205266175&searchtext=spark
Libbybapa 17 Aug, 2020 @ 8:12am
Portal2Player, you should use spoiler tags. I can't imagine what you find unclear about the exit.
SpKi 17 Aug, 2020 @ 8:01am
Neat map. Thanks for creating.
BehindPortal 17 Aug, 2020 @ 5:37am
yes nice move, its logical btw. :p2blue:fav:p2cube::p2orange:
Portal2Player 17 Aug, 2020 @ 5:25am
I like it, especially the part where you bootstrap the laser, though its not really clear on what your supposed to do at the exit
Mikeastro 17 Aug, 2020 @ 5:20am
Spooky! I had never thought that was possible :] Clever, thumbs up!
Dark Rozen 17 Aug, 2020 @ 5:18am
