Is this https://youtu.be/tSxVDsDIN3I an intended solution?
zeo1337 21 febr. 2019 la 12:52
Thought I had cheated. The method was really easy with this setup. But still felt unintended

Thanks for the maps, we made it! I'm a little unsure about this one because of the solution, but I don't want that to sour what I've seen from your hammer maps from start to finish. Thanks a lot :)

Found an unintended solution. With this setup (cube shown in needed position and angle) grab the cube, hold it into the laser, jump, throw the cube into the air, turn right, place portal near exit while the fizzler is briefly deactivated. It's a little tricky but suprisingly not THAT hard to perform.

I think this is the first puzzle I’ve come across where ‘that trick’, i.e. holding the laser cube and keeping the laser on the catcher while gradually walking through the deactivated fizzler, is the intended solution as opposed to an exploit. So thumbs up for that I suppose. Went back and found the Easter egg :)

One of The best maps ever! : )) :steamhappy:

Great puzzle, great map design! I was stumped by this for a few minutes and then it hit me. The solution is somewhat similar to my Lazer Fizzle map.

I played this over a year ago but I couldn't solve it - now that I've seen that manuever, (and looked at the title again) I managed to figure it out. Not a fan of it, but I still gotta give you props for the amazing Hammer work and the easter egg. Thumbs up! :p2cube:

I agree that this kind of map is not my favorite. Still fun to actually figure it out. Thanks for your work!

I think there's a possible solution without using aiming the target all the time; actually you could hold up the cube with a little angle inside the portal on the high wall and let it sticking out from the exiting portal behind you to shoot on the target.

Well alll I can say is... thank goodness for the F6 and F7 functions. Otherwise I don't think I would have had the patience to solve this one, once I figured out what I had to do. You are a top notch puzzle maker SRS but this one... well let's just say it's not my favorite.

Since Portal2 no longer supports my Cyborg evo joystick, I have to play in keyboard emulation mode and player movement is nowhere near as smooth as it used to be in real joystick mode. That made the maneuver really hard to execute.

PS: The map should be called steady angle instead of steady line :steammocking:

Liked it! Thumbs up! the Title of this map aided in the solution; It is a bit touchy and usually this is not the first thing that comes to my mind in solving these ...
The Sojourner 25 aug. 2015 la 0:51
...through which things can... fly through a fizzler. I'll miss that (companion) redirection cube.
The Sojourner 25 aug. 2015 la 0:45
Found the easter egg, even though I couldn't decode the SSTV worth crap :P

(and no, we haven't forgotten you, but it is always nice to see a map from you :p2cube:)

The technique used here is unconventional as I have done something like this before. I didn't think to do that here though because this chamber is configured like a traditional "outsmart fizzler" chamber which got me no where. Your chamber is very hard to execute once you think of the techique. I don't know for sure but I think my variation of the idea works better, or at least is easier to perform:

You know what, that's probably a far better idea. The setup in Hammer is also fairly straightforward. I might test it like that. Hopefully there's no alternate solutions that come from it.

Oh, btw, I thought of a way to change this puzzle into a different puzzle by just making 2 changes. Get rid of the portal surface that allows for the "Steady Line" to be used and add a timer between the receiver and the fizzler for the exit button section. The timer would disable the fizzler for a few seconds longer after the receiver no longer has the laser on it. (The laser will still disable the fizzler, it just stays disable for a few seconds after the laser is removed.) You could call it "Steady Hand." I am not sure if you fallow all this here or if you can insert the timer I am talking about, but if you can, I think it might be a neat puzzle idea. (I haven't used hammer yet and I would not know how to go about this.)

@The MAD Fool
Yeah, like I've said I'm not a huge fan of this solution, but I did really want to get the map out. Thanks for the feedback, and the remix map! Gonna give that a shot soon.
The MAD Fool 15 aug. 2015 la 10:26
To be honest I usually don't like puzzle were you have to drag the cube through the fizzle while keeping it on target. I saw this move right away, but thought nah, that can't be the move, he definitely has a better solution here! I know it! So I kept trying, and trying... Then I saw the noticed the title and said dang! Not my cub of tea here, but do like trying your puzzles out-- even the ones I might not end up liking. On that note here is a puzzle I just published that you can bag on if you like: Over Here, Over There. Believe it or not-- this is a reworking of your puzzle. Hope you like it!

Sweet - love your maps and this one is no exception. Thanks for creating again...
srs bsnss  [autor] 11 aug. 2015 la 8:34
Thanks for playing and commenting guys! RE: The solution. The pivotal piece of the intended solution: Power the catcher with a redirected laser coming from a portal in the area with the exit door button and long corner segment. Move the cube into this area, all the while holding the laser steady onto the catcher as you move . It's an unconventional maneuver, and not the most straightforward either. Generally I try not to include these types of solutions but this I've seen before a few times.
cyhborg 11 aug. 2015 la 6:01
found two solutions, but neither seem legit.
lfairban 10 aug. 2015 la 16:23
That was insane! Please tell me that is not how to properly solve this puzzle.
Free Beer 10 aug. 2015 la 12:53
Wow that was hard!! Loved it!
srs bsnss  [autor] 9 aug. 2015 la 23:45
Glad to hear you liked it! I chose the name to give the player a hint, seeing as the maneuver is...unconventional .

This test had me stumped for a while, but then it turned out that the name of the chamber was spoiling the solution :D . I solved it in about 15 minutes.

And about the secret message , my SSTV decripting software doesn't work as flawlessly as when I last checked, I'll see what's wrong with it one of these days and see what you've hidden.

The bts areas look pretty neat. The puzzle is nice. Always happy to play your levels!
