Strange puzzle, it looked so intricate and intimidating when I loaded the map, but the solution unfolded quite trivially. I never had to worry about the redirection cube at all.

I enjoyed this map. By the way I rather like how there are a few diversions
that look like they might be part of a/the solution but aren't.

Couldn't find any bypasses, but it does lead me to some points where I have no choice but to restart the test chamber, which is frustrating very much.

nice one, i stepped through the upper right corner of the beamer cave to reach the button site and then i saw i could also simply portal through the fence ^^. so this may be an idea for an much harder version by putting some black walls at the button site to force the player portalling through the beamer.

Author - The reason people keep insisting that you don't use the lift or redirection cube is because they don't realize how they are involved, when you play through at first it just appears that you hit the switch and a lift rises, and then a few seconds later the lasers dissapear for some unknown reason. This is a good hint that this part of the puzzle is trivial and not worth bothering with, I myself was compelled to come to this page after trying it and thinking that it must have been broken or something because it was so dumb. I'd recommend adding more to it or making it more difficult.

Rather easy, but just interesting enough to be worth playing. May be the story line is the main point of the collection. I see what people mean about the laser cube and lift. I did not figure out what they did until I had the exit open and went back for another look. The problem is that when you first press the pedestal button, you don't see anything happen so you go back and try it again and then the laser field is down so you just carry on but have no idea of why it is down .

I dont think people realize just how much they DO need the redirection cube and lift to finish it. You cannot even start the puzzle without them. You just cant unless you cheat using codes.

1. Simplicity is good, but having unused items isn't always a bad thing. It makes one thing.
2. I just completed it without the aid of either the redirection cube or the lift.
3. If the others are like this, GOOD ON YA!!! It is just tricky enuf to make me think & just easy enuf to keep a moron like me interested.
4. Anyone one doesn't like, move on. We don't need ya.

If the lift and redirection cube werent used then you wouldnt of been able to beat the map.
cuz theres no way you can get passed the laserfield without them. look again.

I liked it, but there was a lot of stuff that wasn't used. The lift was pointless, and the redirection cube was never used. Also there was that unportalable white angle. Part of Portal's greatness is in it's simplicity. Remember that.

Oh I wanted to clarify my "whatever" comment. It was directed towards the people that are complaining about the angled wall. If it's obvious there's no use for it (and it was obvious) then trying it and finding it "doesn't work" is on them (:

that non portable angled surface was simply for cosmetic purposes. not actually needed. maybe i should have just thrown it on the floor. but yeah. it was just for looks. thats all.

It's annoying is what it is. A portalable surface really should be portalable, no matter what. I also miss re-using the redirection cube, but oh well. Nice job eliminating the ninja solution.

Ah, my bad. I clicked on the button so fast that I didn't notice the laser cube on the lift that actually went through the gravity beam to disable the laser field. So Good Map!

if it was useless then im sure you didnt need it to lift the cube to escape that cell. what alternative method did you use to escape the cell?

thanks. well to be fair there were no ceiling tiles that matched. this would be so much better if it were possible to import my own textures into this shit but apparently that is not possible at all.

Map is improved from its prior iteration, keep polishing the stone!

Suggestions:
• Jail does not feel like jail;
• Perhaps add event sequence (i.e. earthquake) to trigger jailbreak --- who puts the keys in the jail?
• Go with 'ruined' theme, make way to button failed bridge;
• Ceiling tiles don't match 'ruined' theme as yet;
