That moment when you wanna take a break from all the open worlds and multiplayers, dont want to use your brain much on puzzles, and want to drown your sorrows or your boredom by shooting down some ugly evil MFs. Quake 4 lets you do just that when you finished all the CoD or DOOM games, and you're looking for a combination of the two.
Quake 4 starts right where Quake 2 left off, exploring the war of humanity against the Strogg, and dare I say that this game had the better "horror" between it and Doom 3, the mutations that humans undergo to either become members of the Strogg army, or see whatever is left of their body become the lifeline of the Strogg infrastructure, which is a horrifying sight to see.
The weapons in your arsenal are diverse and fun to use. The game also emphasises ammo conservation and discover which weapon is better for each Strogg type.
The mention of being combined with CoD is not without reason: compared to Quake 2, you're no longer too much of a one man army, you're between all your marine brothers, a majority of the game being with at least one more squad member with you, and each having their own role to play at the end of every sequence. There are also two types of marines that help you actively as well: the Technicians and Medics. The Technicians replenishing your armor and also giving you upgrades to weapons. Medics are self-explainatory xD
The downside is being an older game.. and the graphic settings do not work as intended.. but the fix is modifying the config file of the game, being guides out there which show you what line to edit to achieve the best setting.
A really good shooter game, and such a shame that this is the point where the Quake franchise stops story-wise.. will we ever get a new one that continues this storyline? we'll never know..

No issue with the texture or performance running in Windows 11, it seems to have been patched already.
This game is basically kind of like a very good Quake mod for Doom 3, you have the action of Quake and graphics of Doom 3, it's a good recipe. But if I have to nitpick, then I would say the action is not as fast as Quake 1 but still fun, and the graphics is not as immersive as Doom 3 but still look good.
