This is a really addictive little game. I’d never played an “incremental” game like this before, but really enjoyed it. However, if you’ve never played a game like this before, I can offer a bit of advice to save you wasting a lot of your time.

Initially, I thought the “Prestige” part of it was kind of an optional side thing. I didn’t realise that you are REQUIRED to use this gameplay mechanic. As a result, my first playthrough was a bit of a disaster. I got as far as I could, then I thought I just had to leave things running in the background and build things up that way.

But the game is designed to take you to a kind of stalemate situation, and at that point you use Prestige and start again.
I know most people will already know that these kinds of games work like this, but I’m sure a few newbies to the genre might make the same mistake I did.

Overall though, it’s a really fun experience. If I don’t count the time I left it running for no reason, I probably had 100% completion in around 7 hours, so that’s great value for money.

Thumbs up for this one. It is short and cheap, but with a very engaging gameplay loop. To get all achievements it would take you about 6,5-7 hours, but at the low low price of 2,69 EUR, that is a steal. Build your Wizard's tower, manage your minions, manage resources, discover countries, build up diplomatic relations, use everything to destroy... three walls by making numbers go up.

I enjoyed it thoroughly and am more than happy to recommend it.

Very short but exceptionally sweet game that easily is able to throw down with the best of them.

Tower Wizard is an idle/incremental game of the short incremental subgenre, and is a bit on the shorter end even among its peers. You can reasonably complete it in a little under 2 and a half hours if you have some prior experience with the genre, although according to other reviews the average completion time is somewhere around 5-6 hours. There is also probably some replay value for those who like to explore different builds, although I am not one of those kinds of players.

It's not really a clicker game and clicking becomes largely obsolete in under 10 minutes, instead the gameplay is much more focused on resource management with some lighter puzzle elements. You are supposed to balance several different resources with more unlocking as you progress through the game. It is up to you to judge where and how to best allocate your resources in order to maximize efficiency. Being an incremental game there is no "un-investing" your basic resources but the game is pretty lenient and you generally shouldn't have any trouble as long as you aren't completely mindless about it.

Like many idle/incrementals the main progression comes in the form of a prestige system. Upon collecting various milestones of the main resource you will be given the option to reset your progress and gain prestige points that can be allocated to a tiered skill grid to make the next run go faster and further. Each tier of upgrades is locked until you have a certain number of prestige points and you can freely reallocate any spent points each time you prestige. Generally you won't have enough points to buy out everything so you will have to pick and choose which upgrades you want, and this is where most of the games puzzle elements reside as certain upgrades have synergy with each other.

Despite the different options the game still felt largely linear (not a bad thing) and I get the feeling that you could reasonably brute force the game if you made a mistake and felt particularly stubborn to stick with it. Each tier comes with 1 to 3 "free" upgrades that are always unlocked no matter what, and generally there are also 1 or 2 upgrades that just give way more value compared to the others.

While there is still some variety in the build you pick towards the mid and late game you are not FORCED to pick unlike in other short incrementals like (the) Gnorp Apologue or Journey to Incrementalia where if you don't have the right build you will completely stall out.

Despite its short length it is of extremely high quality and is very well polished. I found it to be the most engaging and enjoyable for its playtime out of all the short incrementals I have ever played. It scratches that incremental game itch in all the right places and is a great experience that I would recommend to any fan of the incremental genre.

Lastly, if you are here reading reviews for the game before buying it, just know that the gameplay trailer and description of the game are actually obsolete, and the game does not play quite like what it shows you. This doesn't really matter since the gameplay is still amazing anyway but I thought it would be funny to mention it since I have never seen a mistake like that before. It is not even like the game has been updated and reworked over the years or anything, it just came out with an obsolete trailer for some reason lol.
