I guess it depends on what you expected from this. No matter what, the technical implementation is very well executed. The story is pretty good - strong motivations and characters and such - and in the cells where you explore it is pretty complete for the tasks at hand.
What bugged me was that I am an RPG'r - not a clicker. There are several moments where you just have to push the right butttons, at the right time, in the right sequence. It completely ruins my immersion. Still, gameplay that depends on this type of mentality makes it fluid and trusted outside of those hateful moments. I know what to do with the game. I am confident of my learned skills. It is very playable.
The storyline is strong in the ad campaigns and the reason that finally got me to pre-purchase. Even got the "survival" edition (don't) because I got so excited. But it is pretty seriously a corridor shooter. The ads didn't really imply that. Still, it plays well for 40 hours, but you won't take an arrow to the knee in this one. Skill building and inventory is seriously on the lame side of the fence. The whole fast travel seemed like a solution to a technical problem really. Marketing. Who knew.
There are truely wonderful defining moments that will make this game great. The nearly seemless merging of cut-scenes and game play, the subtlety of her left foot slipping on the ice on a corner (and only then) that really lets you get in the game. But then there are those clicky-battles where you can only accomplish some defining moment one way. Sigh. Rip my heart out why don't ya.
Enjoyed it and hated it at the same time. One of the few games that I consider playing through again, one of the fewer games that I wonder why I would do that.

Great review. Decided not to purchase, I can't stand corridor shooters. Thanks!
