Cursed 2 keeps the old-school point-and-click horror game core of the original, and expands and improves on its predecessor in almost every way. There's now an entire town to explore, with the mines of the original now just one of many accessible locations. The limited and rewardless combat of the original is replaced by a fun, almost Punch Out-like system of dodging and striking enemy weaknesses, and a number of melee weapons, guns, and magic spells are available to give you a variety of options for fighting. Killing monsters and solving puzzles gives experience now, allowing you to level up the protagonist satisfyingly until he's a killing machine. Puzzles are mostly intuitive, although again you'll probably need to check the official walkthrough for help now and then. There's still plenty of horror, with some good jumpscares, plenty of gore, and some genuinely creepy and unexpected segments. The difficulty is mostly fair and satisfying, although the early game can be tough at times, and regular saving is definitely recommended. Overall, it took me about eight hours to complete both endings of the game, and it was a lot of fun. There's even a post-game bonus menu with development insights, game lore, and a monster and jumpscare gallery. This game is absolutely worth playing, even if it wasn't free!
